Good morning and happy new week! I’m popping in to share a video today with some tips and tricks for embossing diecuts.
I love our embossing folder and die combos (they are some of my favorite products to date!), but there is the age-old conundrum (ok maybe not age-old, but you know what I mean!)…emboss first or diecut first? Embossing first is certainly easier, but diecutting as a second step flattens out all of the beautiful embossing. You can always refresh your embossing with a second pass after cutting, but that’s an extra step, and involves lining up the individual diecuts inside your folder. That’s not so hard with a single diecut or larger pieces, but gets a little trickier with lots of pieces, like in the case of our new Coquette Hearts embossing folder and Whole-Hearted die.
I’ve been experimenting with some tips and tricks for making it easier and have found a common kitchen product to be a game changer…Press n Seal! If you don’t already have a roll of this in your craft room, you might want to grab one next time you’re at the store. There are lots of great crafty uses for Press n Seal…I’m not sure which crafter was the original Press n Seal guru (it might have been our very own Laurie Willison?!), but it’s one of the greatest hits for sure.
I put together a video sharing some tips and tricks for using Press n Seal in a couple of different ways to make it so much easier to emboss diecuts.
Thanks so much for popping in! Happy creating! 🙂

Thank you, Betsy❣️
I’m wondering if it wasn’t Jennifer McGuire the crafting guru as her husband invented the stuff (Press n Seal)!
Thank you for your beautiful creations and all of your wonderful tips!!
Believe it or not, Jennifer credited Laurie with the idea! https://share.google/opitZDW7QfeLxAMAj
Thank you so much – I have been waiting for this video! I’m heading over to watch now. I’ve been playing with the new stuff and can’t wait to see what tips you have to share!
Another crafty tip. I had my husband cut the whole box of Press and Seal in half. Now I have 2 boxes of it and it’s a more crafty size
Excellent idea! Thank you for sharing! What kind of saw did he use?
Beautiful technique! In fact stunning!
It was Jennifer McGuire. Her husband actually invented Press N Seal.
Jennifer actually said that Laurie gave her the idea! See her Facebook video here crediting Laurie for using her husband’s product in a new and crafty way! https://share.google/opitZDW7QfeLxAMAj
Thank you so much for taking the time to share these tips. You make it easy for us to be successful.
Wow, great ideas!! I can’t wait to try these with the new Greetery products that just arrived. Thank you, Betsy!
Thank you, Betsy! LOVE IT!
I will give these ideas a try when I get time to use these folders, Betsy. I adore this release’s items but I have had to curb spending a bit. I have so little time to craft that I have to be more choosy to justify the purchases. Thanks again!
Great video, Betsy, thanks!
This came just in time as I fumbled my way through trying to align things “just so.” Appreciate the expert tips – love all that you and the team do!
That is awesome Betsy! Thank you SO much for the tips and tricks!!!
I think Jennifer McGuire first showed this as her husband is the creator of Press N Seal so I suspect – LOL – she had inside knowledge. I didn’t see the embossing trick until Laurie showed it and think it is GREAT – such a help in getting perfection!
Thanks, Betsy!
Perfect timing, Betsy, and so, so helpful. I played around with the Coquette Hearts embossing folder this afternoon, and can’t wait to try your tips tonight. I don’t think I’d ever come up with the Press n Seal tricks, but I have plenty of it in my craft closet. Thanks so much!
Oh Betsy! Bouquets of thanks for sharing your ingenuity with us-so very helpful. I love The Greetery for so many reasons. One of them being that you go above and beyond and don’t leave your customers floundering with “implementation” after purchase, but take it to the next level, by sharing your tips and tricks.
Thank you and blessings.
What worked great for me was the method you showed where the Press N Seal is ran thru the embossing folder, and then the diecuts are aligned into their spots. That was so straight forward and the embossed diecuts released beautifully from the folder.
This trick was so very helpful in placing the tiny heart bits inside the embossing folder. It worked perfectly the first time! Thank you!
Question: can anyone tell me what weight and source for cardstock is used? I’d like to purchase the light brown and ivory cardstock used for the hearts and Rosemal reflection die, but I can’t find any reference to it. Thanks anyone!
This is a great idea Betsy! I was using a low tac tape to adhere individual hearts to the embossing folder…..I used the heck out of the largest heart for Valentine’s Day. ;o) This tip will definitely help for next time.
