Butterfly Season Card with Melissa

It’s butterfly season and is one of my most favorite signs of summer!  I began with the beautiful Jumbo Curiosity: Butterfly Die + Stencil.  I love watching each butterfly come to life as color is added with stencils.

I created my background using the Floral Arches Stamp + Stencil.  These lovely images take on such a different feel as a variety of colors are used.  I added an A2 Arches die cut to the center of my stamped and stenciled arch and then added my coordinating butterflies.

To finish, I selected a sentiment from the Sign Off Sentiments stamp set and cut it using the coordinating dies.  It’s such a beautiful stamp set that includes the most thoughtful sentiments.

Wave the Flag 4th of July with Laurie

Hello Greetery friends!  It’s Laurie Willison here! 

I had to go back and pull some favorite 4th of July supplies to create a quick and easy card!  I just love the Wave the Flag Border Die, so this card is based off of this beautiful flag.  I tied in the Stars and Stripes Bow Die for a little 3 D look today. 

To create today’s card, I die cut the Wave the Flag Border die in red and blue cardstock and added them to a white piece of card stock. After cutting the main card front panel down to 3 ¾” x 5’, I layered the white cardstock with some gold cardstock for a little shine peaking out.  I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment from the Land of Liberty set in gold embossing powder to coordinate with the mat on the card.  Last, I took the little star trio die from the For the Ages die set to add in just a little more shine! To finish the card, I die cut that adorable bow from the Stars and Stripes Bow Die set and added it to the side of the card.  

You know I love clean and simple with lots of white space but I always love to share a few tips for adding in more detail or in this case changing up the card details:

  • Use any of the Star Stream line from The Greetery to change up the look of the card front.  The stencil would add color and the embossing folder would add amazing texture!
  • Change up the sentiment to work for your specific occasion. 
  • Use the Postal Frame dies or the Crimped Frames or Crimped Circles to make any shaped card you might want.

Crabby but Cute Summer Birthday Card with Lea

Hey, crafty friends! Lea Lawson here today with a bright and beachy shaker card featuring the charming Hey Honeycomb Crab — one of my favorite little characters for summer crafting. This playful design layers texture, sparkle, and movement, thanks to the Making Waves 3D embossing folder & die, a sea‑colored shaker mix, and that irresistible honeycomb tummy from the Honeycomb Balls Heat Wave Mix.

I started by creating an edge‑to‑edge shaker panel, which sits behind the glittery die‑cut wave pattern. This technique is wonderfully simple and gives the whole card a magical, underwater shimmer. I filled the shaker with a mix of sea‑inspired sequins — blues, aquas, greens, and a touch of sparkle — to echo the ocean theme.

On top of the waves, I added the adorable Hey Honeycomb Crab, complete with his dimensional honeycomb belly. The crab is diecut from bright red cardstock, and I tucked the folded honeycomb ball right into place for that fun pop‑up effect. His big eyes and cheerful claws make him the perfect focal point for a summer birthday card.

The sentiment comes from the Hey Honeycomb Summer Sentiments set — a playful, pun‑filled collection that pairs perfectly with this little guy. I heat embossed it in crisp white so it stands out against all the color and texture happening in the background.

Supplies

A Few Tips

  • Edge‑to‑edge shakers are perfect when you want movement without bulky foam tape.
  • Glitter cardstock adds instant “sunlight on water” vibes when paired with wave dies.
  • Honeycomb embellishments fold flat for mailing but pop open beautifully when displayed.

An edge‑to‑edge shaker panel is one of the quickest ways to add sparkle and movement to your cards. Instead of building a traditional shaker frame, simply wrap a piece of clear plastic around your background like a little gift, so the shaker mix can dance freely from corner to corner.

To make one, place your background face down on a piece of clear cellophane wrap (you could also use a sheet of acetate or transparency). Add double sided tape to all four edges, and remove the release paper from three of the edges. Fold the clear wrap over and adhere to the tape. Pour in your favorite shaker mix, then seal the final edge. Trim away any excess folded over clear packaging if it sticks out. Once it’s wrapped and ready, adhere the finished panel to your card front for instant shimmer and shine!

Closing Thoughts

This little crab brings so much personality to a card, and pairing him with a sparkly ocean shaker background makes the whole design feel lively and joyful. It’s a great summer birthday idea — or just a fun way to send a smile. I hope you enjoyed this adorable “crabby” birthday card!

Cards with Caly – Patriotic Pairings

Hi, everyone!

It’s Caly with you today and I’m excited to share two projects using the Star Spangled Summer Suite!! I have been wanting to use this collection for a while and I’m glad I’m getting the chance to make cards with them for this post! I used elements from this collection and also incorporated a few other elements.

I’ll share some photos and details below, but for more info, be sure to check out the video below!

Both cards are patriotic and are embellished with a bouquet from the Best Bouquet Details Die.  To add depth and movement, I highly recommend adding dark ink to the flag and bow.  Die-cuts can also be given dimension and shading with a darker, coordinating ink color once die-cut with colored cardstock.

My sentiments are embossed in gold over blue cardstock and also ink-blended with a dark blue ink around the outer edges to give them more interest on the cards.

I know you can’t see them too well because I tend to have a light hand when ink-blending, but you can add a vintage feel to the cards by ink-blended your card panels with a brown ink.

Color Play Card Set with Dawn

Hello, friends! It’s Dawn McVey here to share some a few projects today and I have a fun card trio to tell you about! I always think it’s interesting how inspiration works and where it can come from. Sometimes, the tiniest idea can grow into something really big and fun, and that’s kind of what happened here.

If you follow me on Instagram, then maybe you’ve seen my vintage coffee tin full of colorful pens that I use to mark in my Bible. One day, a sage green pen ended up next to a pinky-lavender pen and I loved that combo so much! I pulled the pens out and put them on my studio table to remind me of the color pairing. A few days later, we were at Old Navy, and there was an end cap flip flop display and right next to each other were hanging rows of flip flops in that same green and pinky-lavender combo! And that, my friends, is how this card set started!

I gathered up some card stock and inks in the colors I wanted to use. I added in the deeper plum-y color for interest and then just got busy playing with random die cuts and stamps that either, I hadn’t used in a long time and wanted to, or goodies that I can’t quit using because I’ve been loving them so much! I think the resulting card set is really fun and will be a great addition to my card stash!

PRO TIP: Try die cutting that Capsule Filigree Borders frame and laying it on top of a panel of card stock that’s been embossed with the Pretty Picado embossing folder! Such a fun base layer for WHATEVER you want to start piling on top!

In this case, I added a strip of card stock with a sentiment stamped on it from Scripted Sentiments and then added a lacy layer that I cut out with a Pretty Picado Borders die.  Lastly, I added some enamel dots and buttons for a finishing touch.

PRO TIP: Use your buttons! If you’re like me, you still have hoards of them tucked away, that you haven’t used in ages, but they’re such a sweet and interesting addition!

PRO TIP: It’s ok to mix embellishments!! You don’t have to JUST use enamel dots or JUST use buttons! Use them both! Just remember to use an odd number of them! It’s a common rule in design, that odd numbers are just more visually appealing, so you can see here that I used five total. Three on one side and two on the other. Also, putting them on opposite sides helps create some balance.

Next up, oh gosh, this one is fun and so simple and I love that it sort of has a retro, preppy feel!

PRO TIP: I cut strips of card stock in my three chosen colors and then glued them to a Capsule Basics die cut. Then, I ran it through the die cutting machine with the Capsule Basics die again, and let the die do the work of trimming off the edges for me. This creates a nice, clean, polished edge!

I layered it on a Capsule Star Studded Borders die, and the used the Large Linked Labels embossing folder for a tiny bit of detail and interest on the background.

Lastly for this card, I used the Seed Catalog Background Stamp and an A2 Stitched Scallops die to create the background panel, and then layered on the sentiment from Scripted Sentiments along with some little bits and bobs…..a sentiment strip of card stock, a plain strip, a scalloped/dotted strip off of one of the Pretty Picado Banner dies and a few more buttons. I love how scrappy and fun this is, and it’s also just sweet and simple!

Pretty Patriotic Picado Cards with Dana

Hello Friends! It’s Dana here today and I am back with two cards that use The Pretty Picado product suite. I thought it would be fun to use these products to create a couple of Americana themed cards for summer and the 4th of July.

I started my first card by creating my card panel with the Pretty Picado embossing folder. I used a sponge to add white pigment ink to the embossed details and attached the panel to an A2 card base. Next, I used the Capsule Star Studded Borders and Capsule Basic dies to die cut the blue and white capsule shapes. I then used the Pretty Picado dies to die cut the intricate details on the white capsule. I love the gorgeous detail these dies create.

For my sentiment, I used the Pretty Picado Sentiments stamp and matching die. I attached the sentiment to the opening of my die cut panel with foam adhesive. Lastly, I used the Pretty Picado Blooms dies to die cut my florals. I attached the florals to my panel with foam adhesive to finish my card.

I started my next card by using the largest Capsule Star Studded Borders die to die cut my red oval. I then used the Capsule Basic dies to die cut my white layers. I used the Pretty Picado embossing folder to add the embossed detail to the largest oval and the Star Studded Borders to create the blue star edge that I placed around the smaller oval.

Next, I used the Star & Stripes Bow to create my Americana bow and the Land of Liberty set and matching die for my sentiment. Lastly, I used Pretty Picado Blooms (again) to die cut a few florals to add to my card. I just love how all of these products can be mixed and matched to give you so many fun options.

Wild Wetlands Thank You Card with Wanda

Hi creative and crafty friends! It’s Wanda here today on The Greetery Blog. Happy Summer! Hope you’re doing great and having fun in the sun! How about that new release last month? Loved it so much! I feel like you can never have enough thank you cards on hand, so that’s what I made to share with you today. I used the gorgeous Wild Wetlands dies along with a muted/vintage color palette. I love that the Wild Wetlands dies can be used in any color combination which totally changes the feel of the project. I have to remember to push myself to try new color combos…so I’m reminding you too!

My finished card is an A2 Kraft card base, layered with a cream panel (adding to the vintage feel) cut with the Postal Frames die … My card’s focal point is that gorgeous floral spray – Wild Wetlands. I also used the brand new sentiment set from the last release – the Laid Back Basics. I really love this cool font. This card is pretty clean and simple and would be great for mass production. I also like that it can be used to send to a man or a woman for a thank you. 

I started by die cutting out all of the flower pieces from the various colors. Then I used silver metallic ink to add details and shading. I used two shades of green to the spray which makes the dies have more depth. I stamped the sentiment in burgundy ink and die cut it out with the matching dies. I affixed everything to the card using foam squares. My finishing touches are just a few burgundy pearls.

Celebration Street Treats with Kelly

Hello and welcome, friends! It’s Kelly here today sharing a pair of Market Place arch boxes all done up for graduation! I have been having so much fun creating these for recent graduates filled with some of their favorite things! I always love adding a battery-operated tea light (turned off) at the bottom so they can use the box as a luminary after they take out the gift/treat. They look so adorable flickering inside the tiny shop once the gift has been removed and it allows the recipient to enjoy the box for a little bit longer and keep the celebration going! I’ve also found that I love pairing a regular Market Place arch box with the mini–Market Place box together and then packaging them up in a gusseted cellophane bag with a white sturdy paperboard base. They sit perfectly flat and then I tie them up with specialty ribbon in a big, beautiful bow! It makes gifting them so much easier and so adorable!

To begin, I started on the larger box and settled on a mint green for the base! I know I say it all the time, but I have a tendency of getting stuck in color ruts, so I purposely tried something new for the base. I was on a quest for new and exciting green cardstock and ordered three different colors, all of which ended up looking almost identical to each other AND matched some I already own! Haha! Oh well….I tried! I used the Arch Box Large Die and cut the two pieces for the actual box, making sure to cut the windows from one of the pieces. This is totally optional, but if you don’t do this step, it won’t be able to be used as a luminary. I cut the base of the building, along with the windows, using the Market Place No
2 Die.

I like assembling the box and then setting it aside while I work on all of the details for the shop. I cut the shutters from aqua cardstock and the window frames from a darker teal. The shop sign and the top of the building are cut using pink cardstock. Once I had all of the main pieces cut, I got to work gluing everything in place. I like to use liquid glue for all of the pieces, but I used foam squares for the shop sign to give it some dimension. Once the main parts of the building were secured, I got to work on the accents.

The flower boxes, greenery, flowers, and banner are all cut using the Celebration Street Die and the shop name is from the Celebration Street Mini Stamp Set and is heat embossed in white detail powder. I left the window boxes white this time to give the market some crisp detailing, but colored the greenery with a blender brush and dye ink and then colored the individual blooms with markers. I glued them to the building using liquid glue. The “congratulations” banner is cut from gold cardstock along with the two bows, which are included in the Holiday Festoons Die. I added the store front to the assembled box using liquid glue. You can place your hand inside the box to press everything in place. Once that was done, I added some Stickles to the flowers for some sparkle and shine! I also placed a tiny gem on the center of each bow as well.

I used the Arch Box Mini Die for the accent building along with the Market Place Mini Die. I chose a building that would have different architecture than the first to give some variety and visual interest. I took some of the colors from the flowers on the first box to use on this box. Of course, I just HAD to add the bicycle as well, which is also included in the Celebration Street Die. It is cut from the same gold as the banner with black wheels and gold brads to secure it together!

I like to use mini clothespins to secure the boxes, especially when I’m putting them in the cello bags so I don’t have competing ribbons at the top; does that make sense? I had so much fun working on this pair and I’ve already carved out some time to make a few bakery-themed shop boxes to give as gifts this week as well! I can’t wait and I hope to use even more different color combinations to stretch my brain! Haha! Thanks for joining me today!

Takes the Cake Capsule Card with Melissa

Birthday cards are one of the most popular cards to make, give, and receive.  Isn’t it fun to tailor a birthday card specifically to a special friend, family member, or loved one?

The new Greetery products make creating mini birthday masterpiece easy, enjoyable, and so much fun!

I’ve mixed a bit of the old with the new on my card today, beginning with the Capsule Star Studded Borders.  They are cut from a variety of colors and even subtle patterns.

Next I added some petite banners cut using the Capsule Party Scene dies.  I snipped them from their die cut along the edges, and added them across the top of my card.

Next came my focal point which was cut using the Takes the Cake Mini die.  I love how it takes center stage.  I added some balloons from the Marketplace Celebration Street die Collection and finished with a sentiment from the new Laid Back Basics stamps and dies.

This card will be hard to give away, but sharing is have the fun, right?
