The Autumn Edit Showcase Day 1

Welcome to the first day of new product intros for this year’s fall collection! The Autumn Edit is filled with fall versions of many of the series we’ve been doing throughout this year, and a few new goodies too!

Our Autumn Edit collection will be available in the shop on Wednesday morning, September 9 at 10am EDT.

Below is a look at today’s new product intros from our Autumn Edit collection. Bitty Autumn Botanicals Stamp + Stencil and Die

We’re continuing our Bitty series with a fun new autumn version. The same concept as our other sets in the Bitty series, it once again consists of a red rubber stamp for quick stamping of the details, and then a single stencil to add the remaining details to the images. The matching die allows you to cut all of those cute little fall images in one easy pass.

Shortbread Shapes: Rectangle Autumn embossing folder

A fall addition to our Shortbread Shapes series! This one coordinates with the previously released Shortbread Shapes: Rectangle die, and includes lots of sweet fall images to emboss.

Simple Autumn and Simple Autumn Mini Sentiments stamp sets

We’re also continuing our Simple Sentiment series! These new sets have sentiments that cover all the fall happenings, including general fall, Halloween, and Thanksgiving. Just like our other sets in the Simple Sentiment series, the sentiments are the same in both sets, just different sizes. The mini set works wonderfully with the more rectangular label from our Shortbread Shapes: Rectangle Label die, while the larger set is designed to work with the longer banner label from that set. Lot of options for cards, tags, etc!

Bigger Autumn Botanicals dies

We’ve again taken the images from our “Bitty” set and enlarged them into stand-alone die form! This die collection consists of eight different dies and are sized with a similar scale to our previously released Bigger Botanicals and Bigger Holiday Botanicals dies…”bigger”, but not too big for mixing, matching, and clustering on both A2 or 5×7 cards. They also work well with our Capsule Basics dies for creating pretty tags and notes.

Let’s get to the projects, shall we?

I usually try to group my projects by product, but I had fun just really mixing and matching all of today’s products, so let’s just dive right in first with this first card that uses the new Bitty Autumn Botanicals paired with the Bigger Botanicals Pumpkin 2 die. A blue pumpkin, you say? Why yes, they actually exist, and they are a beautiful shade of gray-blue (at least that’s what the internet says…I don’t know that I’ve seen on in real life, but I may make that my goal for this fall 😉). I attempted to mimic that here by cutting the pumpkin from watercolor paper and using my watercolors to bring that to life.

The background was of course created with the new Bitty Autumn Botanicals stamp + stencil. I added a Diamond Foliage diecut as well, cut from rusty red cardstock. I pulled out my Ciao Bella Borders stamp set and matching die from our last release, and used that set to cut the pretty layered windows. The frame images were stamped and heat embossed with gold powder. The sentiment is from the new Simple Autumn Mini Sentiments, stamped onto a label that was created with our Little Linked Labels stamp, die, and embossing folder. I love those little labels so much! I stamped a whole bunch of them with the sentiments from the new Simple Autumn Mini Sentiments set and reached for them over and over while creating my projects, so you’re going to see them pop up a lot in today’s post!

Up next is another card that uses one of the new Bigger Botanicals dies, this time the Corn. Being from Iowa, we HAD to include corn in the line-up! Plus, I just loved the thought of adding all sorts of color to the calico corn. I used my watercolors again to do this cluster of pretty ears. The smaller bow from our Regency Bow #2 set is perfect for adding to the bundle of ears.

Let’s talk about the background! I had fun playing with the Diamond Foliage die. I had an idea to turn it into plaid! To do that, I just cut strips of paper. I cut some orange strips that were 1/4″ wide, and some cream strips at 3/8″, then just attached them to the backside of the Diamond Foliage diecut, one strip at a time. I was originally going to leave the orange on its own, but decided it looked better by also layering a cream strip under each orange becuase it felt a little unbalanced/unsymmetrical (not in a good way). I also layered a second Diamond Foliage diecut (cut from woodgrain kraft paper) underneath everything, offset slightly, and then attached it all to a dark burgundy background. It adds so much depth and interest! I framed it all out with a Capsule Basics shaped card, which was foiled and also embossed. The sentiment is again from the Simple Autumn Mini Sentiments, stamped onto a Little Linked Label.

Next is just a fun assortment of little tags and enclosure cards. I’ve been having so much fun making these since we started releasing our Bigger Botanicals dies last November. They are so fun to keep around to use as tags, tuck in cards for a little gift, as bookmarks, etc. I used the Pumpkin 1, Acorns, Bottle Gourd, Pear Squash, and Mums (for the little flower accents), but any and all of the dies from our Bigger Botanicals series (Autumn or Holiday or Everyday!) work perfect for these!

They’re simple to put together just by using our Capsule Basics die to cut some clear acetate (I just use inexpensive transparency sheets), and then framing them out with either the Capsule Filigree Borders or our Sweetest Frames Capsule Edition works great as well. The little hangers were added with our Hang it Up die, and the labels were stamped with sentiments from the Simple Autumn Mini Sentiments set onto Little Linked Labels and the Acorn one uses our Shortbread Shapes: Rectangle Labels die.

Up next, I pulled out a set that was part of last year’s fall collection to pair with the new Bitty Autumn Botanicals set. I used the Thankful & Blessed stamp + stencil to create the border to frame out those cute little fall images, which are peeking through a window created with our Sweetest Frames Capsule Edition stamp and die.

I went with a soft, sort of unusual (for fall!) color combo to do my stamping and stenciling and it came out so dreamy! I used Victorian Velvet, Stormy Sky Oxide inks, plus a soft beige and a darker burgundy (PTI Fresh Linen and Scarlet Jewel). I added a Diamond Foliage diecut to my Bitty Botanicals panel, which was cut from kraft cardstock. The sentiment again is from Simple Autumn Mini Sentiments, stamped onto a Little Linked Label. The Capsule card base was cut with our Capsule Basics die, and I also embossed the front panel using the Capsule Basics embossing folder to get those perfect, beautiful scored lines around the border.

Speaking of unusual color combos, I was having so much fun stepping out of my normal fall comfort zone to play with some other ideas. This one uses the Bitty Autumn Botanicals set done up in pretty shades of plum. I started with a panel of kraft cardstock, and used plum and burgundy inks to stamp and stencil the images. I added a Diamond Foliage diecut, cut from mauve cardstock.

The pretty shaped base here was done with our Shortbread Shapes: Snowflake die and embossing folder, cut from kraft woodgrain cardstock. I love how it frames out that pretty Botanical panel. The focal point was done with our Shortbread Shapes Rectangle Label, topped off with a single square that was embossed with the new Shortbread Shapes: Rectangle Autumn embossing folder. I topped it off with one of the leaf images from the Bitty Autumn Botanicals set, cut with the matching Bitty Autumn Botanicals die.

The pretty matching tag features the new Bigger Autumn Botanicals Mums die on a clear tag cut with the Capsule Basics die, framed with the Capsule Filigree Borders and topped with a ring cut with our Hang it Up die. The bows are from a few different dies – Regency Bow No. 1 and the tiny one is from our Diamond Ribbons die. It doesn’t show up super great on the photos, but I used some Staz-On ink to stamp “chrysanthemum” on the acetate. That word stamp is found in our Birth Month Blooms Q4 stamp set.

Since I had kind of a feminine fall vibe going, I went all out with the frills on this next one. I again used the new Bitty Botanicals stamp + stencil and Diamond Foliage die to create the pretty panel. This time I framed it out by using my Capsule Basics die to cut a window in a panel of wood grain paper, which I also embossed with our Rosemal Reflections embossing folder. I added a Regency Bow No. 1 to the top and also nested a Capsule Filigree border inside the window cut-out. The sentiment was done using the Thankful & Blessed stamp set and matching die, as well as a Little Linked Label.

Last but not least, I loved putting together a trio of cards that feature the new Shortbread Shapes: Rectangle Autumn embossing folder. I paired the embossing folder with the previously release coordinating Shortbread Shapes Rectangle die to create the shaped card bases and cut the embossed panels. These were so quick to put together and look like they took way more effort and time than they actually did! I pulled out an older die, one that I think works so wonderfully with this new embossing folder – the Round About Fall Foliage die. It works just perfectly for framing out one of the images from the embossing folder!

I used the same basic construction for each of these three cards, but changed up the focal point on each just a bit. This first one features an embossed individual tile, which was cut from woodgrain cardstock, embossed with the new Autumn embossing folder, and layered over the Round About Fall diecuts (I used two Round About diecuts on each card, stacked to create the full wreath/frame). All three of these cards use sentiments from the new Simple Autumn Sentiments stamp set, stamped onto the longer label from the Shortbread Shapes: Rectangle Labels die.

This one omits the interior circle from the Round About Fall die so that the center image from the background shows through, which made this version even quicker to put together!

This third one uses the Bigger Autumn Botanicals Pumpkin 2 diecut layered over the Round About Fall diecuts. It covers quite a bit of the embossed background, but that embossing still peeks through and adds so much depth and interest to the design!

And finally, a couple of tags to round out this pretty little group of projects. I’ve loved making these tags using all of the Shortbread Shapes Rectangle embossing folders we’ve released. They are a great basic that you can use throughout the year, thanks to all of the different seasonal embossing folders we’ve been releasing with this series. ;). The sentiments from the Simple Autumn Mini Sentiments set fit just right on the labels. Wouldn’t these be perfect for tying on Thanksgiving hostess gifts or even place cards on your Thanksgiving table. I could also see these Shortbread Shapes cards as Thanksgiving table decor…they would be gorgeous on each plate!
