Happy Friday everyone! During our La Dolce Vita release, I promised a how-to video for the Canned die. I finally had a chance to put that together for you and am sharing that today, along with several new projects using these fun dies!
Instead of filling my cans with fish (I shared plenty of those here during the release!), I decided to “upcycle” my cans and fill them with summery tomatoes and flowers.

In the video (linked here and below), I’ll show two different ways of putting the cans together – one that uses the interactive flap/pull-tab, and the other that uses the mock “roll” for a stationary design.

The first card with the pull-tab is filled with tomatoes created with our BotaniCuts Tomatoes die. I went with some bright and fun pastels for the tomatoes, and added a stenciled checked border using our Checks Out stencil.

The sentiments were stamped with a few different sets. I used the Something Fishy set for the “packed with love” sentiment stamped on the front, and the Tomato Tomato set was used to stamp the “thank you” and the “from my head tomatoes” sentiment on the inside. I love adding the little pun to the inside…I think it will make the recipient smile!

The second card uses the mock rolled edge to create a pocket, which I filled with pretty flowers from our Coastal Cuttings die.

I used the base of the Canned die to create the shaped card base by cutting a folded card base “on the fold”. The front was embellished with a pretty frame, label, and sentiment from the Ciao Bella Borders stamp set and matching die.

I also had so much fun creating a whole bunch of mini cans using the Canned Lite die. I pulled out my scrap bin and filled them with with little bits and bobs…diecut flowers (mostly using our Bigger Botanicals dies), some cute calico print papers, and just anything else that caught my eye that I could tuck into these little cuties. If you want to try something similar, have fun diecutting the pieces of the cans from lots of cardstock colors, then just mix and match and have fun!

That’s all I have for you today! I hope you enjoyed the video and the extra inspiration for using these fun dies!
