Kelly Lunceford is here today sharing a gorgeous card, perfect for summer! I always love Kelly’s ability to mix and match products to create her layered masterpieces. But before we get to her project, a bit of news to share…we have a new collection of products coming to the shop next Friday, June 9! We’ll be sharing sneak peeks, projects, and reveals of our new Urban Jungle collection all next week. I hope you’ll join us!
Now let’s hear from Kelly…
Hello and welcome, friends! It’s Kelly here with a fun summery project using a mix of some of my favorite products! The winter was so very long here, and I have to admit I dreamt of lazy mornings sitting on the porch. I’m one of those people who likes to “celebrate the season”, no matter which one it is, but eternal winter is definitely not for me! Ha ha! But here we are; spring is on its way out, and summer is knocking at the door! This card was actually inspired by one of my friend’s yard that was just teaming with GIANT hollyhocks (last summer) lining her fence! I can see they are growing again this year and will most likely be equally spectacular!
To begin, I die cut all of the pieces that I would need for the Hollyhocks from white cardstock. I used Distress Oxide inks and finger daubers to give them their color. I glued them together using the handy-dandy assembly guide that is included with your purchase. I set them aside to dry and got to work on the other elements for this card.
I die cut the porch pieces using the Sitting Pretty die and the Sitting Pretty Accessories die. I used Distress oxide ink for all of the pieces except for the porch. I cut a top-folding A2 card base and then added some ink to make it look like a sky. I added the porch piece over the top using foam squares. I tucked the Hollyhocks behind the porch to give it the illusion
that they are growing on the others side. From there, I added in all of the cute accessories to bring it to life! I absolutely love the newer New Day Sentiment set, so I chose one of the smaller options included in the set to accent this design. I used the coordinating New Day Sentiments die to cut it out and then strategically glued it over the top of the Hollyhocks. Of course, I just couldn’t resist adding a dusting of glitter for some sparkle and shine!
Thanks for joining me today! I hope something from nature will inspire some summer crafting of your own!
