Good morning and Happy Tuesday! We have a little surprise for you this morning…we just added a few new hot foil designs to the shop! These didn’t arrive in time for our Spring Fling release, but they are available now in the shop and we have lots of inspiration to share with you today for using them!

First let’s take a look at the four new hot foils. There are four new plates, each available separately as detailed below or as a one-click bundle, which you’ll find HERE.

Simply Bold For You, Love, and Mom

These bold basics are great for single layer cards or tags, or try juxtaposing this bold font with pretty florals! The words are the same as the Simply Bold dies that were released in February with our Spring Fling collection, but now in hot foil form.

Spring Frame hot foil

The delicate and pretty Spring Frame stamp we released in February is now available in hot foil form. Just like the stamp version, the hot foil coordinates with the matching Spring Frame die.

We have several projects to share from myself and the team!

First up is a Mother’s Day card that uses the Simply Bold Mom hot foil which I foiled over a panel that was stenciled and stamped with the Print Shop: Modern Botanical set. I added a few daisy cluster diecuts over the top, popped up with foam adhesive to add just a little dimension to this card. For an ultra-mailable version, just omit the popped up flowers!

Next up is a pair of Easter cards using the Spring Frame hot foil. I loved pairing this springy frame with the pastel foil colors from the Satin Pastels foil pack (Amazon link) from Spellbinders. These soft, Eastery colors are perfect for pairing with this frame. I kept the designs very simple by just adding sentiments from the Easter Morning Sentiments stamp set. On one card I diecut the frame with the coordinating die, and on the other, I just foiled directly onto the card front, but diecut the sentiment using the coordinating sentiment die instead. You can of course choose to diecut neither for simple, classy single layer cards.

Next is a Mother’s Day card using the Spring Frame hot foil paired with a sentiment from the To Mom with Love stamp set. I chose to foil the frame with rose gold foil onto a soft pink cardstock for a really feminine look. I’m a sucker for rose gold, always! To add some dimension to this one I popped up with sentiment with foam tape, and I also added the negative outer portion of the Spring Frame diecut, popping it up with some foam as well.

Last but not least, I’m always looking for ways to create elegant and professional looking wedding cards. There’s just something about foiling that feels perfect for weddings. I once again used rose gold foil and soft pink cardstock, paired with blush and cream cardstock. The blush layer under the arch cut-out was foiled with the Spring Frame, as was the outer pink layer from which I diecut the arch shape using an A2 Arches die. The foiled frame underneath peeks out just a bit in some areas and matches up with the outer frame for a fun effect. I also tucked in a few pretty leaves which were cut using the Embroidered Blooms die. The sentiment was done with the Simply Bold Love hot foil and a stamp from the Lovely Silhouettes stamp set.

Oh, and let’s not forget about the envelope! I foiled onto the flap using the Spring Frame foil plate as well. It took a little strategery (that’s a word in our house, btw, lol…), but it turned out lovely. I opened up the envelope and secured the foil to my envelope flap with a piece of tape so that the foil did not extend beyond the flap portion. I then positioned my Spring Frame plate at an angle on my Glimmer platform, topped it off with the envelope/foil. I ran it through my diecut machine to press the foil, but only ran it through up to where the flap ended. My first go around trying this I ran it completely through, but then I had an impression of the frame on the rest of the envelope, which was not what I wanted. So just run it through up to the flap, then reverse directions and roll it back out.

Before we share a few projects from the team, I just wanted to share a handy little foiling tip. If you’re ever struggling with incomplete foils, try grabbing some wax paper – just the basic roll of wax paper from your kitchen drawer. While the plate is warming on the platform, rub over your plate with the waxy side of the wax paper. Your plate should be warm enough to sort of “melt” the wax paper (be careful not to burn yourself, of course!). This helps to lubricate the plate a bit and makes for easier, cleaner foil release. Especially handy for working with papers that have more tooth to them. Although we recommend using ultra smooth or glossy cardstock for foiling, sometimes I just have my heart set on using something else, in which case this is my go-to trick (along with adding a cardstock shim to my sandwich!).

Now for a few projects from some of our Inspiration Team members!

I pulled a few birthday paper scraps out to make a tag and bow. I first ran the Simply Bold Hot Foil stamp through my machine to add gold gold to the fun polka dot paper. I then die-cut the paper with the large Crimped Circle Gift Tag, making sure For You was positioned in the middle. I topped the tag with a Big Beautiful Bow, and tied it to a present with red and white bakers twine.
