TGIF – Sew Adorable Gift Tags with Dawn + Save the Date!

TGIF! Before we get to Dawn’s fun project today, just a bit of news! We hope you’ll join us next week for some fun while we release a new collection of products and celebrate our 5th birthday. I can hardly believe it! We hope you’ll join us here on the blog. We’ll start the week on Monday with a few days of sneak peeks, and then we’ll have a couple of blog hops and product showcases before our new Confetti Encore collection hits the shop on Friday 4/26!

Now I’ll hand it over to Dawn so she can tell us all about the cute tags she’s sharing with us today!

For awhile now, I’ve been wanting to use the hoopla dies and such to make a set of little embroidery-inspired all-occasion gift tags. I finally got around to making them and they turned out so darling! I stamped the to/from on the back of the larger ones, and the smaller ones I’ll use by adding onto packages more as an embellishment with the bow and I can also just write the to: info on the back.

I used the Rose Tapestry stencils to create the main images for each tag. I just stenciled one panel and then used the Hoopla Round Inserts and Hoopla Mini Inserts dies to cut the floral panel apart. Before I die cut it though, I ran it through my die cutting machine with the Aida Cloth Texture Plate, to give it a more realistic touch.

I used some of the dies from Embroidered Blooms to add some various sprigs and leaves to some of the tags and layered up a couple of them, by using the Four Square Tags die and the Four Square Holiday Tags stamp set along with the hoops (Round and Mini). It was fun to pull together a variety of tags….some more layered and some less….and I can’t wait to use them on some birthday and “just because” gifts this spring and summer!

Spring Tapestry with Wanda

Hi there my creative and crafty friends! It’s Wanda here on The Greetery Blog today to share a project with you! I am always happy to share with you. Hope you’re doing great!

My card today features the stunning Rose Tapestry Stencils along with the Hoopla Oval die and the new Sign Off Sentiments. I had been wanting to make a purple/spring version of these tapestry stencils ever since they were released, and it came out looking really fresh and pretty. I am definitely in the mood to move towards spring colors! My finished card is an A2 kraft card base. I layered purple cardstock and some gingham from my stash, and then used the Hoopla Oval and matching Oval Insert as the focal point of my card.

I used both large and small blender brushes with those wonderful stencils, and inked with shades of spring greens and pretty purples. It is so fun to watch the design take shape with each stencil layer. I used the Hoopla Oval Inserts to die cut my stenciled panel to the perfect size to fit into the Hoop. I accented with silver and purple. I used the Notionable Dies to make the scissors, thread, thimble and needle. My stenciled panel and my sentiment are on cream cardstock for more of a vintage look instead of bright white cardstock.

I stamped the sentiment from the Sign Off Sentiments set, and die cut it out with the matching die. I attached everything to my card base and finished off with a bit of twine and some purple pearls. This would be a great card for a crafty friend! (My other hobby is cross stitching!)

Thanks Sew Much with Melissa + Save the Date!

Hello and happy Tuesday! Melissa is here today sharing a gorgeous card using products from our Handiwork collection! Before we get to that, I just wanted to give you a little heads up! We have new holiday products coming to the shop next week. Eep! We’ve been busy behind the scenes getting everything ready!

Our Recollective Holiday collection will be available in the shop on Friday, October 6th. It’s filled with things inspired by my childhood Christmases…most notably the time and traditions spent at my grandmother’s house. She loved Christmas! She looked forward to it and prepared for it all year. So many of the products in our Recollective collection were inspired by her. I’m excited to share it all with you!

I hope you’ll join us for sneak peeks starting in just a few days, and then next week will be filled with product reveals and projects from the team before it all hits the shop on Friday, October 6.

I have a major crush on the tiny scissors from the Handiwork Notionable die collection. I needed a quick Thank You card and knew I wanted to center it around these cute scissors.

I used the gorgeous Rose Tapestry Stencils to create my background and then built my scene over the top. A panel of vellum helps add some subtlety to the background, allowing the focal point to stand out a little from the patterned background. I’ve used a sentiment from the Sew Vintage stamp set and stamped it over the top of a die cut Hoopla Mini Inserts heart. I used a few stamped and diecut images from the Floral Sampler stamp set and matching die around my sentiment to finish it off.

Sew Grateful Rose Tapestry with Kelly

Hello friends! It’s Kelly here today sharing a fun card using products from the Handiwork Collection! I’m currently obsessed with the Rose Tapestry Stencil so that was the starting point for today’s card. I’ve mentioned it before, but there is something so magical about watching a background come to life with layering stencils! I have a tendency to just stare at them mesmerized and tempted to just leave them as is! That being said, I don’t think Betsy would be very impressed if I just shared a stenciled panel! LOL! (Hey, Betsy popping in here to say that I’m pretty sure Kelly could manage to make *just* a stenciled panel look amazing – LOL!)

I’m particularly smitten with the rose that’s almost in the center, so I chose to frame that particular rose using the Hoopla Round dies. I die cut the hoop from white and then colored it using a few brown Distress Oxide inks. The silver ‘hanger’ at the top is also die cut once from white cardstock and then one more time from silver cardstock for realism. I simply glued the two together for a sturdier piece and then glued it to the top of the hoop.

I die cut the ‘sew’ word using the new Stitched Sentiments die using black cardstock for contrast. I strategically glued it to the hoop using liquid glue and then added the hoop to the background using foam squares for dimension. I chose to accent the ‘sew’ word using the ‘grateful for you’ portion of the sentiment found in the Stitched Sentiments stamp set. I heat embossed it in white onto a black strip of cardstock for contrast. I die cut and stamped flowers and leaves from the Floral Sampler stamp/die set using Distress Oxide inks. I arranged them around the hoop and sentiment until I was happy with the arrangement. I did use the French knot dies from the Embroidered Blooms dies to add to the centers of two of the flowers; it just gives it some variation and added detail. That’s what’s so great about this collection…. you can mix and match things to your heart’s content!

For those of you that saw my Rose Tapestry card for the release, I used the Aida Cloth Texture Plate over the top of the stenciled panel and I absolutely LOVED the texture and feel that it gave that card, but for today, I chose to leave it ‘as-is’ for something a little bit different.

I had so much fun creating this card to add to my thank you card stash; it is currently depleted after a round of thanking a few friends who helped me a few months ago. I love how unique this particular card is with all of its ‘sewing’ charm! I like having all different types of cards in my stash to have on hand for just the perfect time! TGIF – Rose Tapestries with Dawn

Hello there! It’s TGIF time again and I couldn’t wait to share these projects with you because, gosh, they’re just so pretty! And the best part is, ANYone can make them, thanks to the ease of use with these fun new products from the most recent release at The Greetery! I fell in love with the Rose Tapestry stencil set and just had to use them again after making my release projects, so this TGIF post was just perfect timing!

Firstly, let me just say that I LOVE that you can use the new Aida Cloth Texture Plate to make card stock look like Aida cloth! My mom made MANY counted cross stitch pieces when I was growing up! Our walls were covered with them, so I became familiar with Aida cloth from a very young age. And even though she framed the cross stitch works when they were finished, while she was working on them, they were always in embroidery hoops with these same screw tops like the Hoopla Oval die! So, working with all of these same elements, but in paper form, just brought back so many memories! Made me think of my mom the whole time!

PRO TIP: Stencil your card stock FIRST and then run it through your die cutting machine with the texture plate (use a rubber embossing mat for best results). You don’t want all of your ink to be affected by that texture when you’re stenciling. So, stencil first and add the texture after.

I used silver and gold card stocks to die cut the screw elements at the top, and just die cut the frame from white card stock, which I then inked up with brown ink, using a blending brush. Fast and easy! I die cut that “sew” and then stamped it with the matching word. I added a simple card stock strip to finish off the sentiment.

Sometimes, the pattern is just too pretty to cut off any! I added the sentiment (from the Sew Vintage stamp set) to one of the little Hoopla Mini die cuts and added a bit of paper “thread” to accent the hoop (cut using the Notionable die).

PRO TIP: When you have a small die cut element such as this frame, and you don’t want it to get lost in the busyness of the background, add a strip of card stock behind it to serve as a grounding element between the two. It gives the eye someplace to rest and allows the focal image to really pop!

Handiwork Collection Day 2

Sew Vintage Die + stamp set

I’ve always been fascinated by vintage sewing machines – both for their functionality and their beauty! I’m so excited about our new Sew Vintage die, which creates the most adorable vintage sewing machine. The details really put this set over the top (you can actually “thread” the machine!). The coordinating stamp set can be used to add floral and flourish details to the sewing machine, and it also includes a handful of sewing-themed sentiments.

Notionable Die

Our new Notionable die is filled with sweet old-fashioned sewing notions, including a classic tomato pin cushion and a fancy scissors that actually opens and closes when assembled with a brad. (I think cutting it from gold cardstock is going to be required! 🙂 ). Other items in the set include fancy pins, needle and a spool of thread, a needle card and a thimble.

Rose Tapestry Stencil

This new 7-piece layering stencil creates an all-over rose pattern that was inspired by vintage tapestries. Have fun experimenting with all of the different color combos and watching this design come to life, stencil by stencil!

Embroidered Background Stamp

We’re introducing a new background, this one features the look of freehand embroidery and is sized to fill an A2 panel.

Now for some projects to see these new products brought to life!

First up is a card that uses the new Sew Vintage die and matching stamp set. I just had to go the traditional route and create a black and gold machine by heat embossing the details from the Sew Vintage stamp set with gold embossing powder. It’s just a classic! I am excited to also create these in some other non-traditional colors for future projects.

Around the machine I clustered several stamped and diecut images that were done with both the Embroidered Blooms die and the Floral Sampler stamp set and matching die. The sentiment is from the new Sew Vintage stamp set. Things to note on the background – I used the Hoopla Oval Inserts, embossed with the Aida Cloth Texture Plate. Behind that is a kraft panel that was stamped with thew new Embroidered Background stamp using white pigment ink.

Next up is a card that uses the new Notionable die, along with several other new products. One of the fun things about the Notionable die is that it’s perfect for pairing with our Curio Divider and Curio Divider II dies! I used the Curio II die here to create a sort of sewing box themed card. It’s so fun to create all of the pretty details!

In addition to the scissors, pin cushion, thread, thimble, etc from the Notionable set, I also incorporated the tiny oval hoop from the Hoopla Mini set. I added a few little “fabric” scraps that were cut with the Patchwork die and embossed with the Aida Cloth Texture Plate. One of them was cut from a little scrap I had left from another project that was stenciled with the new Rose Tapestry stencil. I also tucked in a few stamped and diecut florals from the Embroidered Blooms and Floral Sampler sets.

The scissors was cut from rose gold mirror cardstock and fastened together onto my card using a tiny brad so that it actually opens and closes, creating a fun interactive element!

While it’s super fun to use alllll of the Notionable elements on a single card, they’re also great to use independently, which is what I did for these next two cards. This first one uses that adorable scissors as a focal point.

I started out with the larger Hoopla Oval and created a hoop to use as my focal point. I attached the scissors in the center with a brad, so again it’s an interactive element. Then I used some Embroidered Blooms diecuts to frame my pretty golden scissors. For the sentiment, I pulled out my Little Labels set to stamp the thank you sentiment. Behind the hoop is a dark green cardstock panel, which I embossed with the Aida Cloth Texture Plate and stamped with the Embroidered Background stamp in a darker shade of green.

The inside of the card is stamped with the “doesn’t cut it” sentiment from the new Stitched Sentiments set, finishing the sentiment from the front of the card. I also stamped a few leaves and flowers from the Floral Sampler set.

This next card uses the cute spool of thread from the Notionable die set. I created four spools in fun colors and layered them over a Hoopla Oval Inserts diecut. I also added a few leaves cut with the Embroidered Blooms die. The sentiment is from the Sew Vintage stamp set.

For the background, I head embossed the new Embroidered Background onto kraft cardstock with white embossing powder. I diecut my embossed panel with the Crimped Frames die.

My next two cards use the new Rose Tapestry stencil set. It’s so fun to see this stencil design come together with each step! Here I used shades of pink and purple for the roses, and blues and greens for the foliage to stencil the design onto a panel that was embossed with the Aida Cloth Texture Plate. Once my panel was stenciled, I diecut it with the Patchwork die to add even more texture and the pinked edge.

For my focal point I used the smaller hoop from the Hoopla Round die. Inside the hoop I put a panel of vellum that was heat embossed with the Embroidered Background using white embossing powder. I love how lacy that looks! For the sentiment I pulled out my Written in Ribbons set and stamped the “happy” in coordinating ink colors and layered it over the vellum hoop. I added the birthday sentiment, also from Written in Ribbons stamped onto a PreText Banners diecut. I added a few diecut leaves around the sentiment, which were cut with the Embroidered Blooms die.

For my last card for the day, I took a stenciled Rose Tapestry panel and framed it with the large round Hoopla die. I added a sentiment using the Stitched Sentiments stamp set and matching die. I embellished the top of the hoop with several Embroidered Blooms diecuts.

For the background, I layered a Woven Cane panel diecut from white cardstock over a creamy card base for a subtle background with lots of texture.
