TGIF – Make a Wish Pinwheels with Dana

Happy Friday! Dana is here with some more wonderful birthday inspiration! I love how she pulled out our Pinwheel Party products and combined them with some of our newly released products for a fresh new look!

Hi friends! Happy Friday!! It’s Dana here today and I am so excited to be back on the Greetery’s Blog to share a birthday card with you all. I thought it would be fun to share a card that combines the Make A Wish word die with the Pinwheel Party set… they are a perfect match!

I started my card by using the Pinwheel Party dies and stencils to create my pinwheels. Once I was finished I added a few white splatters with paint and set them aside to dry.

Next, I used the Make A Wish die to create my sentiment. I love the size and font of this die, it’s definitely one I will use often. I ink blended a soft pink ink on my card panel and then added a few splatters. I then attached my pinwheels with foam adhesive to give them some dimension. Lastly, I attached my sentiment to the center of my panel to finish my card.

It’s a Pinwheel Party with Angelica

My husband and I were invited to a 50th birthday party recently, and I realized I didn’t have much of a selection of birthday cards, especially for a man. And for a 50th birthday at that! So I pulled out the Pinwheel Party Bundle, and made a few cards.

Let’s start with the 50th birthday card. I thought black and gold-foiled pinwheels would be fun on the card. I die-cut black card stock with the the pinwheel dies, and used the coordinating stencils to add Deco Foil Transfer Gel. The Gell is white when applied, and turns clear once it’s dry. When the gel was dry, I pulled out my mini MINC machine, and set the heat temperature to three. The machine takes only a few minutes to heat up, then its ready for the pinwheels and foil. I topped the pinwheels with Champagne Deco Foil in the MINC folder, and ran the folder through the machine. the machine melts the transfer gel, which then takes hold of the foil. Once the foil was cooled, I took it off, and was left with these super shiny pinwheels.

To add more party decorations to the card, I grabbed some gold glitter card stock and Twisted Crepe Die. I glued the die-cuts to a card panel that I had stamped a few Pinwheel Party stars with gray ink onto. I also stamped a sentiment from Digit Sentiments stamp set in black ink. I die-cut 50 out of the glitter paper using Bold Numbers Die, and glued the numbers under the sentiment. To finish the card, I added the Pinwheels with thin foam squares, and trimmed the edges.

While the transfer Gell was drying, I decided to stencil a few backgrounds with the Pinwheel Party Stencil set. the stencil set has guide lines on each stencil for horizontal and vertical A2 card fronts. I stenciled one of each, just to show the fullness. I also turned the panels 90 degrees to stencil the bottom side for more interest.

The shaker card was stenciled with the horizontal guidelines, and I used a variety of Distress Oxide inks for a cheerful look. I die-cut a shaker window the the Let’s Party shadow die, and closed it with acetate. I added foam strips around the back of the window, filled the window with Spring Rain Sequins, and closed the back with more acetate. I attached the panel to card base with more foam strips, and added “Let’s Party!” to the window to finish the card. *Tip: When adding die-cuts to acetate, add adhesive to the back of the paper before die-cutting. This is the easiest (and cleanest) way to do it.

The second card was made with the vertical guide lines. I kept this card clean and simple, using Distress Oxide inks to add the pinwheels, and finished with a gold glitter Let’s Party sentiment.

I had a lot of fun playing with the Pinwheel Party set. There’s so many things you can create with these stencils and dies. I hope I was able to share some ideas with you today!

TGIF – Patriotic Pinwheels

TGIF! Happy holiday weekend (at least for our US readers)!

I’m taking a turn for this week’s TGIF and I couldn’t wait to pull out my Pinwheel Party set to create some patriotic pinwheels. I haven’t played with this set for a while, and I was reminded of why it’s a customer favorite. Those pinwheels are so fun to stencil in all sorts of colors.

I chose several shades of red and blue Oxide inks…Tumbled Glass, Blueprint Sketch, Chipped Sapphire, Festive Berries, and Aged Mahogany. Using more or less ink, along with varying the pressure applied while sponging can give you a broad range of colors with just a few inks.

I arranged all of my colorful pinwheels on a Crimped Slimline panel, and finished it with a sentiment made from a few different elements. The number four is from our Bold Numbers die. The “happy” and “th” are both from the Digit Sentiments stamp set. the small banner that “happy” is stamped on is from the PreText Banners die. To add a little sparkle (can’t have the 4th of July without some sparkle!), I used glitter to coat the number four as well as some tiny stars cut with the Pinwheel Party die. I also coated a few of the smallest pinwheels in glitter. Oh, and that number 4 sponged with red and blue? It’s totally reminding me of a rocket pop popsicle! 🙂

TGIF – Pretty Pinwheels with Kay

TGIF! And it’s a good one too…Holiday weekend, woohoo! Whether you’re going out or staying in, I hope you have a wonderful weekend. If you’re sneaking in some crafting time, Kay is here with some weekend inspiration. Looking for a fun way to use those Pinwheels you just ordered? Just wait until you see the gorgeous project Kay has for you today!

Hi there! Kay here, and I have a card to share with you today using the new Pinwheel Party stencils and Pinwheel Party dies, along with some pretty florals from Print Shop Fresh Florals and Top Down Day stamp sets.

I’ve had a lot of fun playing with the Pinwheel Party stencils and dies. Although this is a birthday card, they are by no means limited to only birthday themed projects. I think they make lovely backgrounds just lightly stenciled onto your cardstock. I love to have a soft background for floral cards or collage type cards.

So for this card, I used the Pinwheel stencils and very lightly stenciled several different pinwheels in different colors and sizes onto the background. I speckled with a tiny bit of the same color inks. I then stenciled some more pinwheels and cut them out with the coordinating dies. I layered these onto the card with foam tape. I stamped and cut out some of the pretty little bunches of flowers from the Top Down Day stamp set and tucked those behind the pinwheels. I also added some of the flowers and greenery from the Print Shop Fresh Florals stamp set.

To finish it up, I stamped the Happy from the Birthday Blooms stamp set, cut it out with the coordinating die and added it to my card with foam tape. The small birthday is also from the Birthday Blooms stamp set. I heat embossed it with white embossing powder and added it below the happy with foam tape as well.

I hope you have enjoyed my project today and I hope it will inspire you to play around with the Pinwheel Party stencils in fun and unique ways!

TGIF – Vintage Pinwheels & Postmarks with Wanda

I hope you’re ready for a beautiful summer Friday! We have some inspiration for you today as we head into the weekend. Hopefully you’ll be able to sneak in some creative time! Wanda’s beautiful project is going to make you want to pull out those postmarks and pinwheels…

Hello and Welcome to TGIF here at The Greetery! Wanda here, sharing a vintage inspired card for this Summer Friday! I like a good vintage project, and getting my hands inky! One of the many things I love about The Greetery stamps and dies is that they can be adapted to any crafting, card-making style. Everything is so creative and flexible to make your style shine. The stamps I used for this project could be used just as easily is bright bold tones, or soft pastels, or warmer hues… Today I’m using one of my favorite products from the last release: The Pinwheel Party Dies and Stencils. I wanted to use them again with a retro look… I combined them with lots of previously released goodies and Distress Inks. Thanks for joining me today!

My finished card is an A2 sized card base in dark brown paper. I started by creating a cool, old paper looking background. I used watercolor paper, a water brush, and brown and blue Distress Inks. I kept layering the inks until I got a nice, worn paper look. Then I used stamps from the Pretty Postmarks Stamp set (the beautiful text and the circular postmark) and stamped them over the background. I sprayed the stamping with water to make it soften. I love text stamps!

For the tag, I used the Speed Tagging Die Set and die cut the scalloped tag from watercolor paper. I used Distress Inks and the Oopsie Daisy stamp set to stamp the two daisy flowers onto the tag. I used a water brush to soften the edges of the stamping to mimic water coloring. I splattered inks over the flowers and also added a bit more of the text….

I die cut pinwheels using the Pinwheel Party Dies – some from watercolor paper, and some from text paper. I used the matching Pinwheel Party Stencils to add blue and brown stripes. Then the pinwheels were inked around the edges with a sponge dauber…

I stamped and die cut a pretty postage stamp to add to my collage. The sentiment was die cut from the awesome Sentiment Starters word dies set. My finishing touches are a bit of twine and a few gold enamel dots. The main elements were attached to the card using foam tape.

TGIF – Blooming Balloon Bouquets with Dawn

It’s finally Friday! Which means it’s time for some inspiration as we head into the weekend. Do you have crafty plans? If you’re looking for a little inspiration, Dawn’s here with some pretty ideas for using Balloon Bouquet…

“I had so much fun creating with Balloon Bouquet for the last release, that I was excited to show you a few other things you can do with the balloons, to style them in different ways!

The one I’m most excited about though, is using the BIG flower stamps for the large balloon, on all three sizes of balloons! Who doesn’t love floral balloons of all sizes?!! Just stamp the images for the large balloon on a smaller balloon die cut with the Big Balloons die just as you would the big balloon. Easy peasy! The flowers just go off the edges of the balloon, which makes it look like the floral pattern continues all the way around the balloon!

You can do several other things, as well! I’ve got examples of all of these here, but besides stamping all of the elements on the balloons, as they were designed, you can also leave the flowers white, stamp the flowers and leave the leaves white or you can even ombre your balloons! So many options with this versatile set!”

Pinwheel Party with Angelica

Happy TGIF! Angelica is here with some projects that will definitely brighten your weekend! I also have a stock update after her fun projects, so be sure to check that out.

Hi friends. I’m excited to be sharing two cards, using the new Pinwheel Party collection. I am a bit obsessed with the Pinwheel Party Stencils, and couldn’t resist working with them again.

I started off by making the pinwheels. I die-cut several colors of card stock with the three pinwheel dies in the Pinwheel Party Die Collection. The die cuts line up perfectly with the single pinwheel stencils. I found it easiest to put the die cut pinwheel back into it’s negative, and tape the matching stencil over it. I blended coordinating Distress Oxide inks with finger daubers over the stencil.

When it came to decorating, I kept the layouts similar. I stamped the star cluster from Pinwheel Party Stamp Set in a rainbow circle, and added a single stamped star in random spots. I trimmed the panels with the Crimped Frame Die.

The Let’s Party! die is from Pinwheel Party Die Collection. I die-cut the words twice, glued them together, and attached them to the coordinating shadow. I attached it to the card with thin foam squares.

The second card got a heat-embossed sentiment. I picked a sentiment from Pinwheel Party to white heat-emboss onto black card stock. I used a Sentiment Suite Basics die to die-cut the sentiment.

I added matching die-cut circles to the middle of each pinwheel. I used the small pinwheel circle die in the die collection to die-cut colored card stock. Once I attached the pinwheels to their cards, I finished them off with faux pearls.

I once again had so much fun creating, so I have tons of projects for you today!

First I’ll be sharing several Pinwheel Party projects, but before I do, here’s a video I put together to show you these stencils in action. I can’t wait for you to try them for yourselves!

Now for some Pinwheel Party projects. This first card uses the stencils to create the colorful pinwheel design. I stenciled it first across the top of a vertical A2 panel, then again along the bottom to create two borders.

I love how quick and easy and FUN these stencils are! Using the masking trick I show in the video makes it easy to use tons of color. I added the diecut “let’s party” sentiment using the Pinwheel Party dies. I nested the word diecut back inside the shadow portion, sponging some ink on it before I put it back in place. I popped it up with foam tape for lots of dimension. I also added a few stars and confetti using the Pinwheel Party dies. The remainder of the sentiment was stamped with the Pinwheel Party stamp set onto a Sentiment Suite: Basics die. To finish off the top and bottom I added the frosting border from the Cake Pops die set. I love that border – it’s such a cute finishing touch!

This next one uses the Pinwheel Party dies and stencils to create a colorful cluster of pinwheels behind that cute sentiment!

I could not stop making these pinwheels in all kinds of colors – they are so FUN to stencil! For the sentiment, I again used the let’s party words from the Pinwheel Party die. This time I cut several of the word portion from white cardstock and stacked them up for lots of dimension. I nested the insides of the letter loops back inside after sponging them with ink for a fun touch. I cut the shadow portion from vellum and added it behind the dimensional words. Behind that whole cluster of pinwheels is a bit of watercoloring to give it a softer look. I once again added the Cake Pops frosting borders along the top and bottom.

I warned you that I couldn’t stop making these pinwheels in allllll the colors! Here’s another one…I clustered a whole bunch of them in rainbow order across the front of this fun card.

This time I used a sentiment from the new Birthday Blooms set, paired with a smaller sentiment from the Pinwheel Party stamp set. I also incorporated some of the Cake Pops Number Candles – they work so great on cards as well as the little cakes I’m going to show you in a bit! I finished it off by stamping the star cluster from the Pinwheel Party stamp set and stringing a few Twisted Crepe streamers.

So far my Pinwheel Party cards have been bright and colorful, but you can definitely explore some more masculine color schemes, or how about using school colors for a graduation card? I needed a few of these yet this year as our graduations have all been postponed. Here I used our school colors for a grad ensemble.

For one of the Pinwheel stencil steps I sponged Versamark and then heat embossed it with gold embossing powder to add some shimmer and shine to my pinwheel border. This time I cut my border with the matching die from the Pinwheel Party die set, and also stamped the Ticker Tape Background underneath, which was heat embossed with gold. The sentiment here is a combination from a few of the new sets – Balloon Bouquet and Pinwheel Party. I added some star and streamer confetti, cut with the Pinwheel Party dies from gold shimmer cardstock. For the other card, I clustered some of the individual pinwheel diecuts over some Nordic Frames and Crimped Frames panels, and also added some Twisted Crepe streamers cut from gold shimmer cardstock.

I also created a Cake Pops treat filled with chocolate to go along with my graduation cards! I used the Cake Pops Number Candles die to add the year 2020 to the top of the cake. It’s a tight fit, but I think it still works!

On the top of the cake I stamped “congratulations” using a sentiment from the Cake Pops Sentiments stamp set, and attached it to the Cake Pops Stand. I incorporated the Tear Away Circle die into the Cake Pops Stand so that the treats will be accessible.

These little cakes are so fun to do up with all sorts of details! The basic Cake Pops die has fun details built into it, but the Number Candles, Banner, and Cake Stand add even more possibilities.

You can add glitter or sprinkles to the cake tops, or maybe even add some Twisted Crepe streamers to the stand like I did here. I used the small flowers from the Cake Pops die set along with some small flower sequins to dress them up even more.

The largest pinwheel from the Pinwheel Party set is also a great size to put on top of the cakes – I love how that looks! To cut the slit in the pinwheel to slip the candles in, I just ran it through my diecut machine with the cake top circle die from the Cake Pops set – it’s small enough that it fits just inside the circle and will only cut the slit, leaving the points of the pinwheel untouched. Then you can just slip in the topper of your choice – the candles, banner, or numbers! The Cake Pops Banner Sentiments stamp set is just right for adding all sorts of sentiments to that cute banner.
