Sippin’ Summer Tea with Wanda

Hi there sweet and crafty friends! It’s Wanda here today on The Greetery Blog! Hope you’re having a wonderful Summer and enjoyed a fun 4^th of July holiday! To share with you today, I made a sweet Summer tea party card! I used a fresh color palette that inspired me from an Instagram post with some cool graphic art. I am always inspired by color palettes! These happy teacups are perfect for a “just because” card. I love the blues together with that pop of orange and stripes for good measure.

My finished card is a cream A2 card base, layered with blue and white striped patterned paper, then a cream layer to feature the teacups. I used the Sips Tea Dies set to die cut three teacups. I gently inked the edges of the cups with darker blue ink. I also splattered on some white paint. I used the Lemon Blossom Die set to die cut two oranges and two leaf clusters. I inked and splattered those too. On the cream panel I used just a small portion of the Flourished Phrases Merry Stencil to add a little flourish to that top left corner. I used the small flowers from the Sweetest Corners Stamp Set to add flowers to two of the cups. Be sure to look at your stamp and supplies in new ways!!

The sentiment was stamped in black ink onto cream cardstock. I used the Sign Off Sentiments stamps and matching dies for the sentiment. I stacked the teacups and affixed them to the card with foam tape. Then I tucked in those little sweet oranges under the stack. (My favorite tea is the Good Earth Sweet and Spicy tea which has orange on the package!) What is your favorite tea? A few tiny orange hearts complete my card.

Fresh & Fruity Tags with Dawn

Hey, friends! Dawn here! I’ve been painting a series of fruit paintings in my studio the last couple of weeks, so I’ve had lemons on the brain. Plus, I was so inspired by a tag set that Betsy shared recently, AND I’ve been needing some birthday gift tags so I decided to combine all of that inspiration into this project! I wanted to make my own set of tags that felt really citrusy and juicy colored and these are the result! I love how they turned out!

I used an array of products to make them, starting with the Four Square Tags Die and the Four Square Birthday Tags Stamps & Dies. The other main component on all of them, was the Lemon Blossom stamps and dies…..I have always loved that set so much! Even just the little flowers and leaves in this set are so versatile. For big impact on sentiments, I used the Make a Wish die, the Simply Bold For You die and the It’s Your Day die.

I chose my color scheme and then just mixed and matched elements on each tag, trying to incorporate as many of the colors from the palette as I could onto each tag. The color variety on each one, makes them very detailed and interesting and FUN!

I also layered a second tag behind each one, so I have a spot to write the to/from info or to jot a note to the recipient.

Hope this big punch of summer color has given you some major inspiration to get out your supplies and create!

First Day of Summer Citrus with Wanda

Happy first day of Summer! Wanda is here today with a gorgeous project that will make your mouth water…perfect for this first day of summer!

Hello there my sweet crafty Greetery friends! Wanda here on the blog today to share a fun, bright and zesty card! It feels like Summer and that makes me in the mood for fun colors and lemonade! I mixed and matched lots of my favorite Greetery products to make a cheerful Summer note sure to liven up any mailbox. I’m featuring the citrus dies from the Baby Face Orange set and the Lemon Blossom set. I think the Patchwork Die in sky blue makes the perfect background….

I started by die cutting several oranges and lemons, and lots of leaves too, using bright cardstocks. I used a blender brush and Distress Inks to ink blend on some shading to the dies. I also splattered on a bit of white paint. I die cut the Ruscus Die from vellum to add more foliage to my fruit cluster. I die cut out some pink flowers from the Lemon Blossom Dies and added white enamel dots to the centers.

For the sentiment I used one of my favorite Greetery sentiment sets: Opposites Attract. I stamped the ‘just a note’ in black and die cut it with the matching die. It’s such a pretty and happy font. The fun part was assembling the card together with all those elements. Here’s what I do: I play around with everything and the placement until I get it the way I like it. Then I take a quick photo with my iPhone to use as my guide to affixing it all. I used foam circles to pop everything up off the background.

I have so many projects I’m excited to share with you today, so let’s get to it!

First I have a cute card using our new Garden Gear: Gloves die along with the matching stencils. I had so much fun creating these cute patterned gloves! I started out by diecutting them from a light pink cardstock, then stenciled the multi-step floral pattern onto them. For the small flower step I used texture paste with my stencil to create the little white flowers. I love how the texture paste makes them stand out and gives a little added texture to the design. I also stamped the centers of the larger flowers with the tiny daisy center from yesterday’s Daisy Days set, and added some additional details with a white pen.

My gloves are holding a couple of the sweet little weeds (they’re only sweet when they’re not in my lawn or garden! 🙂 ) from the Plucked set. I thought the sentiment from the In Spades set was perfect to pair with the dandelions, which never seem to stop growing! The background was stamped with our new Seed Catalog Background and diecut with our Frosted Frames die.

Next I pulled out the new In Spades set to pair with the Garden Gear: Tools die. The In Spades set contains two different patterns to stamp on the little shovels and rakes…they are miniature versions of the Print Shop sets we revealed yesterday, sized perfectly to fit onto the tools. The designs are broken down into a combination of stenciling and stamping.

I lined up two sets of tools across my card front, and added some of the individual diecut elements from the Print Shop: Garden Goodness set we showcased yesterday around the tools. Since the In Spades set is the same design but in s smaller scale, these pieces were the perfect coordinating accents. The background was once again done with the new Seed Catalog Background.

My next project again uses the Garden Gear: Tools die. This time I didn’t embellish it with the In Spades set, but left it plain. I cut it from metallic silver cardstock for a realistic look.

Our Drifting die sponged with brown ink makes the perfect plot for a few weeds from the Plucked set. I also scattered in a few berries from yesterday’s Print Shop: Garden Goodness set for a little color. Complete with roots, the Plucked dies look like you did just that…plucked those weeds right out. 🙂 The fun sentiment from the In Spades set finishes off this card.

Next I used the Garden Gear: Gloves die and filled it with a beautiful bouquet on a Crimped slimline card base. I gathered up all sorts of goodies that were left on my desk…elements from the Garden Goodness set, some BotaniCuts Bluebells and Lavender, and also some Plucked diecuts.

I stamped a sentiment from the Put a Bow on It set along the edge of the glove and it fit there just perfectly, following the curve of the glove…how fun is that?

Next up I have a few Botanicuts cards. If you read this blog often, you might have noticed that I’m often inspired by food. lol. This first one was inspired by a drink we’ve discovered recently that’s such a refreshing treat…lavender lemonade! I pulled out my Just Mason Around set to create the jar. I stamped the image onto vellum to create a translucent jar. Then I filled it up with BotaniCuts Lavender stems.

I placed a couple of Shiplap Builder planks along the bottom edge of the card for my jar to sit on, and also added a few more lavender stems and some lemons from our Lemon Blossom set. It’s making my mouth water! The sentiment is also from Lemon Blossom.

My next card uses the pretty and delicate Botanicuts Bluebells die. I love blue flowers, and these were so fun to color. I used my favorite method of sponging with Oxide inks and shading with colored pencils. I used a mixture of blues and more purple-y blues…Tumbled Glass + Blue Ribbon and Shaded Lilac + Blueprint Sketch.

The background was stamped with our Seed Catalog Background and framed with a Frosted Frames diecut. The sentiment is from our Sentiment Suite: Thinking of You set…which was part of our very first Greetery release, so it’s fitting to use it to celebrate our 3rd anniversary, don’t you think?

My next card uses a whole mix of BotaniCuts dies…new and old, and wrapped up with our new It’s a Wrap Posy Pocket die. My bouquet uses our new Lavender, along with the previously released Rose, Sunflower, and Ginkgo. The bouquet wrap was cut from a panel stamped with the Windowpane Plaid Background stamp.

I thought the bouquet was pretty enough to display, so I attached a disc magnet to the back, and tucked another one under the Crimped Frame panel. The magnets hold the bouquet in place on the card front, but you can remove it and display it on your fridge, etc. For the sentiment, I diecut the tiny tag from the Sentiment Suite: Basics die and stamped with with a sentiment from the Sentiment Suite: Birthday set.

Last but not least, I absolutely had to line up a row of little bouquets using the new It’s a Wrap Mini Posy Pocket die. Ack! They are super sweet. I cut the wraps from cardstock that was stamped with the Seed Catalog Background. I filled them with little sprigs from a variety of different dies…the greenery is from the BotaniCuts Carrot and Boxwood Heart Details dies. The tiny flowers are from the BotaniCuts Strawberries set. What would you fill these little wraps with? Lots of possibilities!

I lined them up on a Deco Frames panel cut from kraft cardstock and splattered with white ink. The sentiment is embossed in white and is from the Sentiment Suite: Birthday set. I adhered it all to a black cardstock base for a little extra drama. It has sort of a French flower market feel, doesn’t it? So fun!

TGIF – Strawberry Lemonade with Dawn

I can hardly believe it’s Friday already, but here we are! It’s May and the weeks are flying right by. Dawn is here today with some bright and cheery inspiration that has me dreaming of summer…while we’re still (not so patiently) waiting for Spring here in Iowa!

Hello there! It’s my turn to share for the TGIF post at The Greetery this week, and I’ve got strawberry lemonade on the brain for today’s cards! I’ve been wanting to pair the new Botanicuts Strawberries with the Lemon Blossom set for awhile now, and this was the perfect opportunity to do it! I also love the look of an all over background pattern, made entirely with popped up die cuts! Lots of people have made cards like this, but I hadn’t ever done it and all of these strawberries and lemons provided the perfect theme for this type of card!

I started out by die cutting all the strawberry elements and lemon components.
PRO TIP: A Q-tip is just right for adding a bit of ink blending along the leaf veins!

Next up, I stamped all the things! I also stamped a couple of sentiment elements for each card, using the Birthday Blooms set.

PRO TIP: Go ahead and put your adhesive on the back of all the die cuts, and then arrange everything BEFORE you start sticking it down! This gives you plenty of opportunity to arrange and rearrange until it’s a pleasing composition.

PRO TIP: This type of background works best, when the elements are sort of grouped together in little clusters, rather than everything just randomly floating, independently. See how strawberries and lemons are kind of tucked up together, as though they’re clustered? That makes it appear less confusing to the eye.

PRO TIP: For added interest, I used two different colors of red card stock for the strawberries! They don’t all have to be the same red! I also added some shading (Q-tip again!) to the lighter colored strawberries.

TGIF – Foodie Friday

Happy TGIF! I’m back for this week’s TGIF. It seems my trend towards food-themed projects continues. Maybe we should just start calling this Foodie Fridays. 😊

I have a fun project today, inspired by some real life events. This week we hosted our church youth group for one course of a progressive dinner. We were in charge of serving the salad/appetizer course. Knowing most teens’ aversion to anything green, we put on our thinking caps and decided to put together a charcuterie board (don’t worry, I had to google how to pronounce it too 😊). If you spend any amount of time on Pinterest, you’ve probably seen this trend…gorgeous boards filled with meats and cheeses, fruits and veggies, and more. The concept has expanded to other themes too. I’ve seen amazing waffle boards, donut boards, and more. So fun!

Here is our charcuterie board before the teens dug in (yes, those are pepperoni roses and no, that’s not real wine 😁)…

Inspired by the whole concept of charcuterie boards, I decided to create a card version using some of our foodie images. Plus I was looking for an excuse to make something summery (it’s time for winter to go away!), so I pulled out our BotaniCuts Strawberries die and the Lemon Blossom set.

A slimline card seemed like the natural choice for this idea, so I pulled out our Crimped Slimline die and cut the largest layer from that set from white cardstock. Then I needed my “board”, so I pulled out my Shiplap Builder die and covered a long strip of cardstock with the Shiplap Builder planks.

Then I went to town layering the lemons, strawberries, leaves, and flowers from both of the sets until my board was nice and full. I finished it off by simply stamping a sentiment along the bottom using a sentiment from the Fresh Air set.

TGIF – Quick & Easy Summer Inspiration with Laurie

Happy Friday! Laurie is here for this week’s TGIF with a bright and summery (and quick!) card that will have you wanting to grab an ice-cold glass of lemonade and head into your craft room. It’s so hot here…sounds like a great plan to me!

Hello friends! It’s Laurie here with today’s TGIF! If you know me, you know I love a good quick and simple card. I adore white space and I love tossing in bright colors! Two of my favorite Greetery stamp sets are Just Mason Around and Lemon Blossoms. They were made perfectly for each other….and for a clean and simple card!

This card was so simple to make. Using washi tape, I masked off the edges of the card front. I grabbed a light teal ink and just lightly blended around the edges with a little heavier hand in the top left corner. I love how this technique frames the card but leaves the white space.

Next, I stamped out the mason jar. If you ever have any trouble lining this up, start with the darkest ink first. Basically, going backwards in your stamping order makes each of the top layers super easier to line up. Then using the open faced die, you can die cut the jar for the perfect result every time! I actually did the same thing with the lemon slices. Seeing that dark ink detail in the center made the other layers easy to line up.

After everything was stamped out and die cut, I arranged the lemons around the mason jar and added in the little bloom for a pop of pink. The last step was adding in a sentiment. A little tip….stamping out several sentiments from any of The Greetery’s Sentiment Suite Sets and die cutting them ahead of time makes for quick card assembly. I usually have a pile of sentiments to pick from whenever I sit down. It’s nice to look and see which sentiment fits with the card before adhering it down.

TGIF – Lemon Happiness & Man Made Sneak Peek

TGIF! We have some fun things going on today! First of all, a sneak peek of a new collection coming to the shop next week Tuesday (May 25th) called Man Made. It’s a fun assortment of masculine products for Father’s Day and all year round. I can’t wait to show you more on Monday, but for now, here’s a peek!

Next, Dawn is here for a super fun TGIF that will definitely brighten your day!

“So, it’s true that inspiration really can be found anywhere, and can strike in an instant! I was watching Joanna Gaines Instagram Stories the other day, where she was sharing the new summer install at their Magnolia store, and I LOVED the wall display she shared. I snapped a quick screen shot, and then used that as the inspiration for this first card! Head to my blog to see the inspiration photo, but it was an easy card to get started with, because I got to pull out the beloved Lemon Blossom stamp set.

After that, I set out to figure out how to recreate Magnolia’s fun tiled wall. Can you figure out what stamps I used to create this vintage-tile-look background?

Once I got to creating with these sweet lemons and blossoms, of course I couldn’t quit. So, I whipped up a pair of cards using a bright, fun color combo, too.

TGIF – Sunshine & Lemons with Dawn + Save the Date!

Happy Friday! This week has been so beautiful and sunshine-y here, it is starting to feel like spring! I hope you’ve seen a bit of sun in your neck of the woods too. In case you haven’t, Dawn is here today with a couple of sunshine-y projects that will definitely brighten your day right up and give you a case of spring fever.

Speaking of which, it’s time to save the date! Our newest collection, Spring Fever, is coming soon! We’ll start sharing some sneak peeks next week.

Now let’s hear from Dawn about this pair of cute cards she has for us today…

After all the frigid temps and snow we’ve had for weeks, it’s finally warming up here and it’s got me itching for Spring! Nothing says Spring like flowers or some cheery yellow, so I paired both elements to create a couple of Spring-y cards to share with you today!

I’ve been thinking about painting some artwork with lemons on it, but haven’t gotten it done yet. What I HAVE done though, is some stamping with the darling Lemon Blossom stamp set — still a favorite of mine! I loved pairing it with an earlier release stamp set (Autumn Sketches), as well a more recent one (Opposites Attract), to create this combo.

Whether you like a more bright, modern feel or a softer, more vintage feel, these cards have you covered!

And for the brighter version, I grabbed a simple, flat, brown paper bag to create a little surprise pocket on the front of the card. So easy! This gives me a cute spot to tuck an additional portion of the sentiment, making the card a little interactive.

I also love taking a single image from a stamp set, and stamping it in a repeating pattern to create a lovely background. Even better in my book, if the chosen image happens to have a vintage feel, creating the look of vintage wallpaper! Such a simple way to get more mileage out of your stamps!

I stamped a pile of these Autumn Sketches backgrounds ages ago, and I’m still finding uses for them even now! It’s one of my favorite crafting tips….stamp multiples at once and then you have them when you need them and can grab and go! Plus, you never know what new products you’ll be able to pair them with down the road!

TGIF: Taste of Summer with Norine

Happy TGIF! Norine is here with some amazing summery cards…I love that she made these all from leftover stamped images from her stash. They’re so perfectly coordinated, you would never guess they were created from leftovers!

Hey Greetery friends, Norine here! I’m so happy to be back with you today sharing a couple more cards I created to boost my stash! Birthday and Thank You cards are always needed and my supply was getting low.

One thing I love so much about The Greetery’s designs is the way they can work together so well. The style of stamp sets, the subjects and their scale are compatible with one another and make it very easy to combine elements from several sets to build cards scenes. Often the best way to do this is just by dumping out a collection of leftover pieces from other card-making efforts and seeing what looks nice together. Because of the effort it takes to perfectly line up stamps when creating stamp-layered images, I usually die cut several pieces of the shapes first, then I can pop the die cuts into one die cut opening to produce several choices of colors and shades. I figure if I’m going to the effort to stamp one image, why not a small stack for later use? Like today?

I stamped those images “fresh” for this card, but I combined them with the jar and string tie from the Just Mason Around stamp set. I wanted to create a scene that would be reminiscent of coming in from watering the garden with a fresh picked bouquet that is bundled and ready to take to a friend. Will I use the mason jar to transport them? Quite possibly! (I love giving store-bought flowers in an old mason jar for a more home-spun feel!)

I combined the stamped and die cut elements, including one of my FAVorite die cut elements in all of The Greetery’s offerings – the little bundle-tie from the Fit To Be Tied die set! The sentiment is from the Sentiment Suite Happy Birthday set and is cut out with a die from the Sentiment Suite Basics Die set.

I adhered everything to a patterned paper card panel from my stash, allowing some of the floral elements to overlap the edge of the card.

Next up is a classic example of what I was mentioning above. It wasn’t actually my intention to make this card before starting but as bits and pieces were laying on my desk and getting shuffled together, I saw that this would make up quick and cute into a sweet little thank you card!

I stamped nothing new for this card except the sentiment, simply combining leftover pieces from other card making sessions. I tend to use predominantly one brand of ink, but even when I do use other inks, I still make consistent color choices that allow the disparate pieces to play nicely together.

The blue jar is from the Just Mason Around stamp and die set, and the green bottle is from the Bottled Up stamp and die set. I used leftover peaches from the lovely Print Shop – Peachy Keen stamp and die set, along with some lemons and leaves from the older Lemon Blossom stamp and die set. Finally, I added a couple of leftover green fronds from the BotaniCuts Palm Die set and the sentiment from the Sentiment Suite Thank You set.

Creating the scene with all of it’s variety of pastel colors I wasn’t sure what kind of background paper would work, so I was delighted to find a pastel plaid paper in my stash to supported the color scheme without demanding too much attention to itself!

I don’t know…I feel a little right now, like I do when I manage to make something from a fridge full of leftovers that nobody suspects is recycled anything. Surprised, smug and secretly pleased! But also the tiniest bit guilty for not “making more of an effort”. What are your thoughts? Can you relate?
