TGIF – Comforting Holiday Cards with Laurie

Hello Greetery friends!  It’s Laurie Willison here!  I have recently been asked for some “thinking of you” type cards for the holidays.  These cards are always so hard to make but they are definitely needed.  When I think of sympathy or thinking of you cards, I think muted tones with sentiments to show the love or concern being shared in the mail.  The Comfort and Joy Stamp Set is a great one for this type of card.  

Today’s card is super simple, as always!  On an off white card base, I added the largest A2 Arches Die in white cardstock, layered with a strip of gold cardstock.  After doing a little ink blending, I added the branches from Big Branches Pine Die to the front panel.  I added in a Dried Citrus Slice for a slight pop of color and then finished off the card with that beautiful sentiment.  

You know I love clean and simple with lots of white space but I always love to share a few 

tips for adding in more detail:

  • Use a background stamp on the base of the card in a similar color to create a subtle detail.
  • Add in more branches or even berries for more color.
  • Using white ink, add in some snow or glitter on the pine branch.

Cruisin’ By for a Birthday Break with Laurie + Sneak Peek of All That Glitters

Hi all and happy Friday! We’re taking a break from the holiday projects with a birthday card by Laurie. But first, sneak peek time! We have a new collection coming to the shop on Tuesday, 11/21 called All That Glitters. It’s filled with gorgeous holiday(ish) and wintery things!

It’s that time of year when I love putting together all sorts of bits and bobs and tags and toppers…a whole platter of goodies to use for wrapping gifts and treats. I’ve been having so much fun putting together this year’s collection of goodies using elements from the new All That Glitters collection…

We have a fun new tag concept to share with you that’s beautiful and classy and oh-so-quick and easy. I think you’re going to love it! What else do you spy?

Now let’s turn it over to Laurie for the fun birthday card she’s sharing today. Loving her fun tips for creating stencils using your dies! Read on for all the details…

Hello Greetery friends!  It’s Laurie Willison here!  Birthday cards are the ones I use the most, so I love being able to create one here and there to add to my stash.  Let me give you a quick rundown on how to make this card….plus a fun little idea to create a tool with a die set you may already have. The supply list for this card is simple….the stamp set is Top Down Day with the coordinating die set, and the Silver Lining Die Set.

First up, let’s create that tool I was talking about.  The Greetery has an awesome set of dies called Silver Linings. These make the most amazing layered clouds but also work great in stencil form.  Grab the dies and any kind of stencil material you might have.  You can use cardstock, a plastic folder (the school supply kind) or actual stencil material.  Click HERE to find the stencil material on Amazon.  Cut 2 pieces of the plastic or cardstock down to 5 ¾” x 5 ¾” square.  Use each of the Silver Linings Dies to cut the top off of each square.  If you would like to add in an easy “hill” or “slope” on the bottom, cut an arched edge along the bottom.  Check out the pictures below to see how I created mine. 

To create this card, I used washi tape to create a frame around the front of a white card base.  You can use any size of washi depending on how big you want that area of white space to be.  Next, grab those new stencils that you just created and line them up in the masked area.  Just add in different layers of ink with different pressure to create your cloudy day. Using the “hill” end of the stencil, I added in some green ink for the grassy area.  Next, slowly remove the washi tape to reveal your little cloudy scene.

Stamp up the little car, balloons and the sentiment and add them to your card front.  I love using foam tape or foam squares to give each of those die cuts dimension. I added a couple little circles of silver cardstock for hubcaps too!

TGIF – Big Beautiful Puffy Bows with Laurie

Laurie is here to give us a fun and simple way to make our Big Beautiful Bow die even more beautiful and dimensional! Read on for all the details…

Hello Greetery friends!  It’s Laurie Willison here! I’m sure by now you’ve seen the Big Beautiful Bow Die. For sure, it is the most amazing bow die I have ever used! It’s so easy to put together and makes the most gorgeous focal point! On today’s card, I’m going to share an easy way to create a little extra dimension with the bow die.

To create this card, I used the Fair Isle Stencil to create the main card panel. I love how just by changing up the colors, you can create so many different looks with this stencil set. Using fun foam, I layered the panel onto a teal card base….and then the bow! 

This new bow die has an amazing look of dimension to it but I decided to try some glitter fun foam to give it a little extra. I cut the 2 bottom parts of the bow with red cardstock and then the rest of the parts in the glitter fun foam. I love the finished look of the bow! 

After adding it to the card front, I die cut some branches from the Botanicuts: Juniper Die to tuck in around the bow. Using the Bright and Bubbly Stamp Set and matching die, I added the Merry and Bright Sentiment to the bottom of the card. I love how quick and easy this card was to make!

Pumpkin Kisses with Laurie

Hello Greetery friends!  It’s Laurie Willison here!  Stopping in with a Fall card….in hopes that Fall temps come soon!  I am ready for summer to go away! I grabbed a couple of the new products from the Harvest Fest Collection and paired them with a few older favorites.  Let’s get started!

To create this card, I used the Herringbone Parquet Die on a white card panel.  I adore this little bit of texture with the wood grain look in the background.  This plate will be good for all occasions of cards!  Next, I stamped and die cut the branches from the Rustic Wreath set and added those to my card front.  I grabbed some of the stems from the new Wildwood stamp set and tucked them in behind the pumpkins from the Autumn Harvest Die set. I needed a little shine so I hot foiled a couple of stems from the Fall Foliage Hot Foil set and cut them with the coordinating die.  

To finish off the card, I stamped the perfect fall sentiment from the Top Down Autumn Day Stamp Set onto the center circle die from the Round About Fall Foliage Die.

Fresh & Summery Hello with Laurie

Hello Greetery friends!  It’s Laurie Willison here!  I have a quick and simple card today that incorporates the new Aida Cloth Texture Plate.  I know the Aida Cloth print works so well with the stitching theme cards but how about just as a texture plate?  I am here for it!!  I love how easy these plates work to add a little texture in the background.  

To create this card, I first die cut the largest Postal Frame Die in white cardstock and layered it on to a white card base.  Using the Aida Cloth Texture Plate, I ran another piece of white cardstock through for that amazing detail.  I cut the panel to fit just inside the dotted frame on the Postage panel.  

Next, I grabbed the Big Branches: Ruscus Die and die cut 2 pieces of green cardstock.  By trimming one branch down, I was able to create the look of a full swag in the background of the card. After assembling the moth from Jumbo Curiosity: Moth Die and Stencil set, I popped the moth up in between those 2 branches in the background.  To finish off the card, I added in the hello sentiment from Opposites Attract Stamp Set and then a few clear drops for some bling!

You know I love keeping it clean and simple but for those of you who do amazing things with detail, here are a few ideas….

Tips for adding in more details: 

  • Instead of the texture plate, mask off the background and use a background stamp for some extra color and detail. 
  • Add in a few extra of the mini moths from the Curiosity Summer Findings Die Set.  
  • Use the new Hoopla Dies to create the frame instead of the Postage Frame Die.
  • Tuck in some floral images from any of your favorite Greetery Stamp Sets.

Fresh Air Thinking of You with Laurie + Handiwork Sneak Peek #2

Happy Tuesday, friends! Laurie is joining us today with some brand new inspiration using an older set from our lineup – I always love seeing fresh takes on some of our classics!

I’m also popping in with the second sneak peek of our Handiwork collection which is coming to the shop on Friday! I’m so excited about all of the fun things in this collection…I had so much fun designing them, and even more fun creating with them! What does your little eye spy in today’s peek?

Now let’s hear from Laurie about the project she’s sharing today…

Hello Greetery friends!  It’s Laurie Willison here with another clean and simple card.  I love taking the gorgeous Greetery elements and making them pop.  I absolutely love the window in the Fresh Air Stamp Set.  The little scene it creates is perfect for an occasion but I love how it works for a Thinking of You card.  

To create this card, I used the brick layered stamps from the Fresh Air set for the background, onto a piece of white cardstock.  After stamping, I die cut the panel with the Crimped Frame Die.  I stamped the sentiment from Sentiment Suite: Thinking of You, along the bottom in black ink.  With a layer of fun foam behind the crimped panel, I added it to a white card base.

Next, I stamped and die cut the window and popped it up on foam squares.  I love adding dimension with foam tape, foam squares or even fun foam to make card fronts come to life.  Last, to keep it nice and simple, I stamped and die cut the floral swag and added it to the window. 

You know I love keeping it clean and simple but for those of you who do amazing things with detail, here are a few….

Tips for adding in more details: 

  • Adding in some blue or even gray ink blending directly on the card base would be great to separate the window from the surrounding white space.  
  • Adding a larger die cut sentiment to the card front would make for a very elegant look. 
  • Replace the white card base with a colored cardstock for more color variation.
  • Make a 3 layer bifold card with added florals to create a fun interactive card with the window as your centerpiece.

Beautifully Simple Big Branches with Laurie

Hello Greetery friends!  It’s Laurie Willison here.  I have a super simple card to share using The Greetery’s Big Branches: Ruscus Die.  I love that the Big Branch dies are big enough to cover a card front.  Using the greenery is gorgeous but using the negative is a lot of fun too!

To create today’s card I simply grabbed a white card panel and die cut the Ruscus branch right out of the center.  I laid it on a white card base to give me an idea where to add in some ink blending.  Using a blending brush and my favorite green ink, I added in color directly to the card base.  Using a heavier hand, I added ink to the bottom of where the branch would lay and then blended out with lighter coverage at the top. 

I attached the card front to the card base with foam tape for the perfect dimension.  Last, I grabbed some black fun foam and die cut the Let’s Have a Word:  Beautiful die.  I love that fun foam works so well for a dimensional sentiment!

Tips for adding in more detail:

I said this last time….I love all the white space (it’s my favorite) but you could also add in some more detail on the card base by adding a stamped image on the ink blending.  That way a little more detail shines through.  You could also make that card front into a shaker card by layering some acetate behind the branch creating a little window.  Adding in some fun bling in behind would really shake things up!  (pun intended) 🙂  One more thought would be to add in some flower die cuts or leaves to the branch.  This would add in lots more color to your card front.

Pretty Floral Panel Card with Laurie

Hello crafty friends!  It’s Laurie here with another quick and simple card showcasing one of my new favorites…Take The Cake!  I love, LOVE this stenciled and stamped image 1. Because it’s gorgeous. 2. It’s SO easy to blend up this amazing bloom and 3. It works for something other than a cake!  It makes the most perfect little focal point for your cards!

Today’s card was so easy to make!  The fun little Takes the Cake floral piece is extra fun because it is the same one I made while on The Greetery’s Instagram live for the release.  I knew this little creation needed to be made into a card!  Using the details die, I cut it out and then added foam squares.  I popped it up onto the Crimped Square die from the Crimped Note Card Die set. 

I needed a little more dimension so I popped that focal point up on fun foam right on to the yellow card base.  To finish off the card, I stamped the sentiment from the New Day Sentiment Set.  The end result is the perfect clean and simple look!

Tips for adding in more detail:

You know I love a clean and simple card but for those of you who love to add in more details, you could absolutely put the floral piece onto a stamped background, maybe the new Sparkler Background or Spring Meadow Background.  You could also add in some ombre ink blending on the card base to give some color variation.  And, of course, pearls or liquid enamel dots would look awesome for the flower centers.  Lots of possibilities to add in more details!

Dragonfly Days with Laurie + Save the Date!

Hey there! Betsy here, just popping in with a little update before I turn it over to Laurie today for her springy card!

We’ve been busy, busy behind the scenes getting everything ready for the release of our next new collection! In just a few days we’ll start sharing some sneak peeks of our Hip Hip Hooray collection…coming to the shop next week Wednesday, April 26!

Hello everyone!  It’s Laurie here with a quick and simple card using one of my favorite Stencil and Die combos….The Jumbo Curiosity: Dragonfly Die and Stencil set.  I love how quick and easy these dragonflies are to put together and then adding in the color with the stencil is just so much fun.  They are so easy to mass produce, as well!

Today’s card uses 3 dies, one stencil and one stamp set:

New Day Sentiments Stamp Set

To put this card today, I first die cut the dragonfly and then added in color using the stencil, some soft spring colored inks and a blending brush.  I find it easiest to die cut the pieces first, lay them onto a sticky mat and then layer on the stencil.  I get perfect color placement this way.  

Next, I die cut the 2nd from the largest Arches Die and the smallest Crimped Frame Die.  After cutting the Crimped Frame die in half (with one piece smaller and one larger), I added them to the Arched die cut panel and trimmed the sides down.  This gives the Crimped Frame a wrapped look and just a fun quick and easy background detail.  I placed the Arched panel with the rounded side down and stamped the sentiment at the bottom, then attached the panel to a light gray card base with foam tape.  To complete the card, I attached the dragonfly to the panel with a thin foam strip for some added dimension. 

Tips for adding in more detail:

You know I love a clean and simple card but for those of you who love to add in more details, a stenciled panel in the background would be a great way to add in more color.  You could also use the Big Branches: Ruscus or Eucalyptus Die in the background.  A scored background using your scoring tool is also another favorite of mine.  Such a great way to add in clean lines but gives the card a little more detail.

Bunny Kisses with Laurie

Hello crafty friends!  It’s Laurie here with a quick and easy Easter card!  I just love the new Bunny Kisses Die and had to pair it with the blooms in the Springtime Stamp Set.  This card was so much fun to make, so let me show you how I did it!

To get started, I chose 3 different colors of Alcohol Markers and made some grass.  This type of grass is super easy to make just by a flick of the wrist.  Once I had a good little patch of green grass, I cut the panel down to 4” x 5 ¼”.  Using the smallest of the Postal Frames Dies, I centered it and cut out the middle of the grass panel.  I attached the outside negative frame to a white card base and then popped up the middle panel with foam tape for a little extra dimension.  

Next, I die cut that adorable Bunny, glued on its little pink nose, colored his little eye black and flicked on some pink Alcohol Marker for his ears.  Super easy!  I stamped and die cut the large bouquet from the Springtime Stamp Set and matching die, then attached it to the bunny, in between his hands.  I popped up the die cuts with foam tape on the Postal Frame. To finish off the card, I stamped the Happy Springtime sentiment by masking each word to create the stacked look.  

Tips for adding in more detail:

I love all the white space (it’s my favorite) but you could also add in some clouds using the new Baby Face: Lamb Die (the body works perfectly for a cloud shape) or just add in some blue ink blending for the sky.  You could also add in other blooms from the Springtime Set to add in more color!
