TGIF – Sweet & Sunny Peek #2 + Simple Slimline Thanks with Angelica

Happy Friday! We have an extra fun Friday post this week with a sneak peek AND a pair of gorgeous cards by Angelica!

First off, one last sneak peek of our new Sweet & Sunny collection before we start the full reveals and project showcases on Monday.

Today’s peek has me all a-flutter! We have some new product combos (dies + ??? 🤔 ) featuring jumbo-sized versions of some of our popular dies. There’s also a new BotaniCuts…can you guess it? I loved creating this rainbow of goodies for your sneak peek enjoyment! The new products we’ll be showcasing will go up in the shop on Wednesday, 6/29 at 10am ET.

It appears Angelica and I were on the same rainbow wavelength! She has a pair of gorgeous cards to share with you for today’s TGIF. Here she is to tell you all about them…

I have been doing a lot of die-cutting lately… which means I have a LOT of paper scraps. I decided a few days ago that I wanted to make a couple slimline cards, utilizing those paper scraps. (I absolutely love making die-cut backgrounds!) I picked a rainbow of colors to work with, and pulled out Inside And Out Berry Branch die to die-cut the paper with.

This die gives you a variety of branches to work with. I picked the two larger branches to make a simple background with. I started with pink at the top, and worked my way down to navy blue.

I attached the branches to white card stock with glue, making sure to be really delicate when adding the glue to the delicate die cuts. Once finished, I trimmed the panels down, and attached them to Sea Salt card bases.

For the sentiments, I picked two from Sentiment Suite: Thank You stamp set. I white heat-embossed the sentiments onto black card stock, and die-cut them with the coordinating die. I used glue to attach them to the cards.

I adore how clean and simple these cards turned out. And I love how versatile this die is. That’s all that I have for today. Thanks so much for stopping by!

TGIF – Frosty Thank You with Norine

Happy Friday! It’s TGIF time and Norine is here today with the most beautiful wintery thank you card. Her timing is perfect…we’re supposed to get our first winter storm of the year today, so I’m in the mood for some frosty goodness. 🙂

Hello Greetery friends, Norine back with you today with a thank you card that is a bit of a cross-over between Christmas and Winter. Your choice. It can be anything you need it to be, and if you’re finished Christmas card crafting then this card has you covered for the thank yous that come next!

I’m going to be honest here. I didn’t set out to make this precise card. I didn’t have anything specific in mind and no particular inspiration, so I just sifted through my Greetery sets and pulled all the ones that appealed to me in the moment…..

which ended up being a stack like this! Ultimately I used only a fraction of these stamps/dies, but that’s an indication of how the creative process works for me some days.

The first stamp set I was inspired by was the red rubber Fond of Foliage background stamp, which I inked up with three shades of blue/green inks – Ranger Distress Speckled Egg, Bundled Sage and Stormy Sky. I spritzed the stamp liberally with water from a mister bottle and closed the stamp positioner onto a watercolor paper panel, leaving it closed for a minute or two, to really soak into the cardstock. I chose those colors because I felt that they nicely straddled a Christmas or Winter theme.

Once dry (helped along with my heat tool) I stamped a second layer of unfocused detail around the edges and 2 corners of the panel, using Iced Spruce Distress ink and the Big Plans background stamp.

Next, I stenciled and glitter embossed a snowflake die cut from the Snowflake Soiree die and stencil set, I die cut the pine boughs with the Botanicuts Pine Bough die set from watercolor paper and painted them with the smoosh technique and more Ranger Distress Ink colors. I layered them together, then touched the edges randomly with Embossing paste and Silver glimmer paste, then touched the paste in sparkle glitter and let them dry.

I die cut a leafy branch from vellum paper with a die in the Signed, Sealed With A Kiss set, and die cut both the inside and outside die cuts from watercolor paper using the Inside and Out Berry Branch set, painting them with varying shades of blue/green ink/paint. Then I hot foiled the Opposites Attract Thank You sentiment using Spellbinders Sky Bright Glimmer foil and die cutting afterwards. I die cut extra layers of the “thank you” sentiment to give the greeting extra oomph. Then I layered all the components together and adhered the layers, with the snowflake to finish on top. Some clear flat sequins finish the card.

TGIF – Unconventional Trees, 2 Ways

TGIF time! We’re heading into the last weekend before Christmas and I hope you’re all doing well.

I had a little time to create this week, and wanted to share a couple of different ideas I had for creating trees using some unconventional supplies. While your holiday cards are likely finished up and already on their way, these fun trees would also be perfect for post-holiday thank-yous or even winter birthdays.

My first unconventional tree was inspired by my dad (hi Dad! 😊). He’s always making cute stuff out of old barnwood and other supplies, and lately he’s been making some really cute trees. I took his idea and turned it into a paper version using our Shiplap Builder die. I mitered several planks to create the tree. My dad was probably able to just whip that out in no time, but it took me a bit to figure out the best way to get it just right! The planks were sponged and splattered before diecutting, like I showed in THIS video. I used Frayed Burlap and Weathered Wood Oxide inks along with some white gouache for the white-washed effect.

Once my tree was assembled I embellished it with some diecut leaves and branches. These were cut using a few different dies – the BotaniCuts Mighty Oak and Inside & Out Berry Branch. I always seem to have a little pile of these on my desk left from other projects and they were perfect for this.

For the background, I wanted some texture, but also didn’t want to distract from the tree, so I layered some Inside & Out Berry Branch diecuts over my background, cut from the same paper. I added a few splatters and gold stars as well, cut using the Pinwheel Party die.

My next tree uses the Macramé Openwork Base die to create a cute fringe-y tree.

To create the tree, I used the straight openwork die from the Macramé Openwork Base set and cut it twice, directly side-by-side, like this:

Then I trimmed it down to the height I wanted my tree to be – I used the twig and pole hangers from the Boho Banner die as the center of my trees, so I trimmed down my fringe portion just a bit shorter than that, to allow for the trunk to extend beyond the tree. Then I just used my paper trimmer to trim each side from the lower outer corners to the center of the strip like this…

You can use as many layers as you’d like, depending on how “fluffy” you want your trees to be – I used two layers for mine. On my project today I used white cardstock, but colors are cute too as you can see from the other trees in my photo – they use two layers as well, but cut from different shades of green cardstock.

For the background on this one, I created a shiplap background using the same ink colors and technique that I mentioned above. I added some white ink splatters and gold stars to finish it off. The sentiment is from the Tree Trimmings set and was heat embossed with white over the shiplap background.

All Make & Tell Tuesdays

Make & Tell – Oopsie Daisy Bouquets + Colored Pencil Shading

Is your work table still covered in holiday goodies? I’m not sure I’m ready to put away all of the Christmas and winter stamps and dies, but I know that I am ready for a little spring!

For today’s Make & Tell video, I’ll be giving some wintery items from our November collection a fresh spring look by combining them with the Oopsie Daisy set.

I used one of my current favorite techniques – using colored pencils to add shading to stamped images. It’s like half the work of coloring is done before you even start! Plus the solid stamped images, especially those that have some layers like the Oopsie Daisies, usually have some shading already built in that you can just enhance a little further using the colored pencils.

I had some bits and pieces left after making the video, so I created this second card as well. Which one is your favorite – the blue or the pink? I love the big blue daisy on this one and the fuller bouquet. 🙂

TGIF – Frozen Inspiration from Kelly

Happy Friday! Ready to get crafty this weekend? Kelly’s here to provide a little TGIF inspiration. I loved reading about her inspiration for the projects she’s sharing today. Inspiration is everywhere!

Hello Friends, it’s Kelly here! I’m thrilled to be here today sharing two cards for this week’s TGIF feature! My family went to see Frozen II this weekend (with the rest of America) and I just loved it! It was a visual treat and while yes, I was watching the movie, I was also designing cards in my head at the same time! Ha ha! These two cards are directly inspired by Elsa and one of her outfits in particular.

I knew that the Nordic Frames paired with some of my favorites from the new release as well as the Frosty Flakes Stencil from the previous release would be the perfect combination to recreate the look and feel of her beautiful dresses. I used a combination of silver embossing and Moonstone Glimmer paste with the stencils to give these cards that icy feeling that I was hoping to achieve! I added some coarse Crystal glitter as well, even sprinkling it over the Nuvo Drops to give them a frozen appearance! By switching up the colors in the Pine Blossom cluster, It really gives the bouquet a completely different feeling than what I used during the release! I love when a stamp set is versatile like that so I can get extra mileage from it all season long! I decided to use the Flappable Stecils to create some coordinating envelopes to complete the presentation!

I can’t wait to use these in the depths of winter when some may have lost their hope for spring. I personally try to embrace the beauty of every season, and these cards hopefully will do the same when they make their appearance in someone’s mailbox to brighten their day! Pine Blossom stamps & dies

Looking for the perfect winter floral? The Pine Blossom set will have you pining for your craft room! Wintery without being overtly Christmas, this set will have you creating the winter days away. The Pine Blossom set features a multi-step bouquet along with lots of individual bits and pieces for building your own clusters and bouquets. There are also a handful of sentiments included, done in a pretty font combination with a touch of nordic flair. The matching eight piece die collection features dies for the bouquet as well as the individual flowers and sprigs.

This set comes on a 6″ x 8″ sheet and includes a full-color printed stamping guide.

Nordic Frames die

This beautiful Nordic Frames die collection will be a staple on your desk this winter and beyond. The lovely detailing around the edges is the perfect finishing touch. Stack them to create dramatic layers, or nest them while cutting to create pretty frames. Backing them with paper in a contrasting color will allow a pop of color to show through the diamond cut-outs for a pretty effect. They’re equally pretty when used with an embossing mat, perfect for one-layer cards.

Inside & Out Berry Branch die

This unique die concept has so many ways to play! This single die allows you to cut a pretty lacy branch outline as well as individual leaves and berries, all at once. Use them to create pretty package toppers, or pair them with the BotaniCuts Pine Bough die for even more layers!

Berry Branch Stencil

The Berry Branch stencil features pretty, delicate branches, leaves, and berries, perfect for creating all-over backgrounds. Sponge with your favorite ink, create ombre effects, or play with other techniques or media, such as colored pencils or embossing paste. Changing up your color combos will make this stencil a go-to year-round!

Speed Tagging Christmas Prints

This paper collection is designed to coordinate with our Speed Tagging die, giving you even more options for this great basic. The Speed Tagging Christmas Prints feature pretty tags, printed on a sturdy 110 lb. cardstock. This collection includes three different designs, two sheets of each, for a total of 42 pretty tags to cut and go! Of course the Speed Tagging Christmas Sentiments stamp set is the perfect complement for adding sentiments to finish the look.

I’m excited to show you project using these new products. I have so many…I just couldn’t quit creating!

First up is a pretty ensemble using several new items – Pine Blossom stamps and dies, Inside & Out Berry Branch dies, Nordic Frames, and the new Speed Tagging Prints. I started out with the largest die from the Nordic Frames set, cut from white cardstock and sponged with some soft green ink. I then layered the bouquet from the Pine Blossom set over the top, along with some of the sprigs from the Inside & Out Berry Branch die, cut from dark navy cardstock. I stamped a sentiment from the Sentiment Suite: Thank You set onto one fo the pre-printed tags and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder. I topped it off with a bow die that you’ll be seeing more of tomorrow! The matching envelope was done with the Flappable stencil and finished off with a sticker. Yes, a matching Pine Blossom sticker! You’ll hear more about that later in the week as well.

My next project again uses the Pine Blossom set. My favorite thing about this set is how it can take on different looks depending on your color choices. I went much softer here and it’s almost spring-like, but still feels like a hint of winter with the pine branches.

For this card I stamped two of the bouquets and arranged them one directly above the other on the largest rectangle from the Nordic Frames die set. It’s all I needed to make this dramatic all-over design. For the sentiment, I stamped a sentiment from the Sentiment Suite: Christmas set onto layered banners cut with the Sentiment Suite Basics die. I also created a matching gift box. This was quick and easy, using a purchased kraft gable box that I simply embellished with the Pine Blossom bouquet. I layered a few individual flower/sprig images from that set as well, for a little added dimension. The tag was cut from the new Speed Tagging Christmas Prints.

For my next card I wanted to play around with all of the individual flowers and sprigs from the Pine Blossom set. I decided to pull out my Halfsies Diamond die and create a pretty focal point.

I diecut and stamped several of the individual pieces from the set and arranged them inside the diamond opening created by the two Halfsies Diamond diecuts. I finished it off by stamping that pretty sentiment from the Pine Blossom set inside. I just love this one turned out – I’d love to try it in some different color combinations!

My next few cards explore some of the possibilities of the new Inside & Out Berry Branch die.

This card was quick and easy to put together. I used just the inside cuts from the Inside & Out Berry Branch die. I cut them from white cardstock and added color and shading with colored pencils. I clustered them all together using the string die from a new set you’ll be seeing more of tomorrow. I layered them over the two larger Nordic Frames dies. I just love that detail design around the edges of the Nordic Frames dies! The sentiment, which just complements so nicely with the little matching details is of course from the Pine Blossom set.

As I was creating these projects, I was thinking it might be fun to try and layer some of the Inside & Out Berry Branch sprigs with the Berry Branch stencil.

For this card, I started by sponging different colors of ink over the Berry Branch stencil using small finger daubers so I could get the ink more precisely where I wanted it, and created different color leaves and berries. Then I layered some of the diecuts over the top and let the stenciling peek out from under. The diecuts don’t match up exactly, but that’s ok, I think it’s a fun effect! I finished it off with a sentiment from the Pine Blossom set.

This next card uses both the inside and outside parts of the Inside & Out Berry Branch die.

I diecut the berry branch from watercolor paper and popped out the interior cuts so that I could watercolor them. Then I nested them back inside the outer border and layered them over a couple of Nordic Frames panels. The back panel was watercolored to match the diecut branches. The smaller panel was cut from black cardstock and splattered with white and gold ink. The sentiment is from Pine Blossom, heat embossed with white.

*TIP – when using the outer portion of this diecut, either alone or with the pieces nested back inside, it helps to use the Press ‘n Seal trick. With the diecut laying on your desk, nest the pieces back inside, then cover with a piece of press ‘n seal so that you can lift it up to add adhesive to the backside, then press onto your project. This will help keep all of those pieces in their proper places!

My final card for today goes all out with the Inside & Out Berry Branch (no pun intended 🙂 )

Here I used the same technique as the card above, using both the inside and outside pieces of the die. This time I cut them from different colors. The outer portions were cut from a mint green cardstock and the insides were cut from white. I added color to the interior cuts using colored pencils before nesting them inside the mint green outlines. The inside of this one is finished off with some of the mint green interior cuts that I had left over, along with a sentiment from the Sentiment Suite: Christmas set.
