Lunchbox Love Note with Angelica

Hello Everybody, and Happy New Year! I have a card to share with you today showcasing a few new products from The Greetery’s new Love Letters PS Collection.

The first thing I did was make the envelope. The envelope, red flowers, and red heart all come from the new Sent With Love die. I also added three BotaniCuts Lavender stems to give the envelope some height and extra color. And if you peek through the bouquet, you can see pink and white polka dot paper. There’s a die included in Sent With Love die set that die-cuts a liner for this envelope. So cute!

For the sentiment, I decided on a die-cut sentiment from Typed Greetings Die. I love typewriter fonts, and was a fan of this sentiment die set as soon as I saw it. to make the sentiment bold, I decided on a black background to add the white die-cut letters to. I attached the envelope and sentiment to a white Postal Frames panel, and adhered the panel to a Herringbone Parquet background.

This card is going to go right into my husband’s lunch box. I know he’s going to smile when he sees it. That’s all that I have for today. Happy Crafting!

TGIF – Thanksgiving BotaniCuts with Kelly

Hello friends! It’s Kelly and I’m so happy to be here today sharing one last Thanksgiving card for the season! I had so much fun pulling out all kinds of leaf dies in my BotaniCuts stash and inking them up in autumnal hues for a warm, glowing card! Autumn has arrived in all of her glory; Utah is truly putting on a show this year and it has been glorious to behold! I wanted to create a card that might capture just a hint of what we’ve been so lucky to experience!

To begin, I used the BotaniCuts: Wheat, Toadstool Garden, Mighty Oak, and the Jumbo Curiosity Buckeye Leaf dies to die cut all of the pieces I used for the focal point. I used sponge daubers and Distress Oxide inks to color them and then I set them aside to work on the background. I’m absolutely in love with the Herringbone Parquet die and used it to die cut an A2 panel of Kraft cardstock. I added gathered twigs and walnut stain Distress Oxide inks around the edges using a blender brush.

Once that was done, I stamped the arched portion of the sentiment, which is from the Thanks All Ways stamp set, using the same walnut stain ink. I also die cut an arch using the A2 Arches Die from Rustic Cream cardstock. I used this as the anchoring point for all of the foliage and the Thanksgiving sentiment. I adhered the arch using foam squares and then had fun tucking foliage here and there until I was satisfied with the arrangement. I added the cute toadstools on each side for interest and variety. I stamped the remainder of the sentiment on a Kraft strip of cardstock and added it using foam squares as well.

I couldn’t resist giving the foliage and toadstools a hint of sparkle with glitter. My favorite way to add glitter is to use a 2-Way glue pen to draw where I want it to go, and then sprinkle it over the areas with glue. I added the entire card front to an A2 card base using my favorite liquid glue: Tombow Mono Multi.

Speaking of glue, are you in the mood for a bit of humor today? Last week was “crazy hair” day at school for my 4 th grader. I found out the night before and had zero time to prep, so we went with an old stand-by: colored hair spray and large googly eyes attached all over the hair. Well….I didn’t have any washable glue on hand so I used Tombow Mono Multi glue!!! Let’s just say, he STILL might have globs of glue in his hair! LOL! That stuff REALLY works! I can rest assured that my cards won’t be falling apart! Ha ha! Anyway, that’s me just keeping it real for you all! I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and please know how VERY thankful I am for each of YOU! Thanks for joining me today!

Recollective Holiday Collection Day 1

Welcome! We’re so glad you stopped by, because we’re ready to kick off the reveals for our 2023 holiday collection! This year’s holiday collection is called Recollective and it will be available in the shop on Friday, October 6 at 10am EDT. Today we’re showcasing some of the products from this new collection. Wrapped in Love product suite

This adorable suite of products contains everything you need to make a holiday wrapping station in tiny paper form. The details make this set! The main die contains a roll of wrapping paper, little presents, a tiny scissors (that actually opens and closes when assembled with a brad!), rolls of string and ribbon, bitty tags, and even a tiny tape dispenser! The coordinating stamp set has different patterns for stamping onto the wrapping paper roll, plus lots of sentiments. The Sentiment Additions stamp set has sentiments geared more towards tag making. There is also a die available for cutting the words “wrapped” and “wrapping” from the set.

Winterland Layers stamp set and die

This set is filled with wintery branches, berries, and sprigs. There are some easy and unique layering possibilities with this set. The branches can all be stamped on their own, or layered to create fuller, layered images with ease. It’s wonderful for stamping backgrounds as well.

Big Beautiful Bow die

From the sneak peeks, I think this one is going to be a customer favorite! It’s an easy-to-assemble generously-sized bow that can be a focal point all on its own. It makes a great package topper, too! The included “ribbon strip” is 5-1/2″ long, making it the perfect size to stretch across an A2 card. The tag is a great place to stamp a small sentiment.

Let’s get to some projects!

First up I have several projects using the new Wrapped in Love product suite. First up is this fun card…

  • To create a two-tone scissors, diecut it from two colors then snip the handle portion from one set and layer it over the other. I used gold metallic and black to create the cute scissors on this card.
  • Have fun creating all sorts of colors and patterns of paper rolls using the various prints/patterns from the Wrapped in Love stamp set. You could also cut them from patterned paper. Heat embossing some with metallic embossing powder is a pretty effect.
  • The tiny sprig and heart images from the Wrapped in Love stamp set can be stamped onto the tiny tags found in the die set.

The Wrapped in Love set is also great for tags. The wavy paper diecut makes a great tag base. The Wrapped In Love Sentiment Additions stamp set contains sentiments geared more towards tag making.

  • The unrolled paper from the Wrapped in Love die makes a great tag base.
  • The sentiments in the Wrapped in Love Sentiment Additions set are great for tag making.
  • Diecut the scissors from metallic/mirror cardstock and attach the two pieces together with a tiny brad to create a realistic scissors!
  • If you want to create a tag that “opens”, adhere two of the wavy paper diecuts together along the paper roll portion on the left, then fold on the scored line to create a tag base that opens (almost like a book). Inside would be the perfect place to stamp a “to: / from:” sentiment.

The wavy paper diecut is a great place for building a wrapping station “scene”, but the diecuts from Wrapped in Love are so fun for other things as well, like creating a fun frame around a sentiment like this next card.

  • Our Halfsies Diamond die is perfect for framing a sentiment.
  • Heat embossing a sentiment onto a dark-colored diecut adds some drama.
  • Diecut the Wrapped in Love elements from several coordinating cardstock colors then have fun putting all of the bits and pieces together. You’ll have enough elements for several cards, or stack them up and have fun creating all-over designs or frames like I did here.
  • The BotaniCuts Juniper die is great for cutting small snippets of greenery to add here and there. Diecut several that you can snip apart and add to your designs. I kept a pile of them inked and ready to go on my work table to add to my projects as I was creating.

For my next card I had fun creating some glam goodies by diecutting the Wrapped in Love elements from rose gold mirror cardstock.

  • Add instant glam to diecuts by cutting from mirror/metallic cardstock. Rose gold scissors and tape dispenser? Yes please! 🙂
  • The pine branch from the Winterland Layers set was my go-to image for adding some quick texture to backgrounds. Stamp it in the corners with a coordinating ink color and it adds just the right touch of depth/color to backgrounds.
  • Wrap the ribbon spool with some twine or string to add some extra realistic texture to your design.
  • Attach the two scissor pieces with a tiny brad to create a tiny scissors that opens and closes.

I used the same pretty color combo on this next card which features a sentiment from the Wrapped in Love set, but this time I paired it with our new Big Beautiful Bow die and some BotaniCuts Rowan Branch diecuts.

  • Create two-tone ribbon strips for the Big Beautiful Bow by cutting the strips from two colors (cream and rose gold were used here), then trim one strip in half down the center so you can layer it underneath, allowing the bottom strips to extend beyond the edges of the top strip.
  • The BotaniCuts Rowan Branch can be snipped apart to create smaller sprigs.
  • Use the Winterland Layers set to stamp a few images in the background before layering the diecuts to add some dimension to your design. A little glitter is a pretty touch as well.
  • Cut the Big Beautiful Bow from two cardstock colors. Mix the pieces to create two bows (see the opposite rose gold + cream bow on the pink arch card a little later in this post).

Next up is another card using the new BotaniCuts Rowan Branch die.

  • Bright red berries against a blue background is always a striking way to create a classic holiday look.
  • Create a faux watercolor background by blending ink onto a panel of watercolor paper using Distress Oxide inks, then spritz with a bit of water and some white ink for snow.
  • Layering two of our BotaniCuts Rowan Branch diecuts is a nice way to fill an A2 card front.
  • Our Frosted Corners die is a pretty way to add some snowy details to your design. I especially love the little “ice” crystals for scattering among the branches.
  • Our Comfort & Joy set is perfect for letting someone know that they’re in your thoughts over the holiday season.

Next up I again used the new BotaniCuts Rowan Branch, this time sprinkling in some of the new BotaniCuts Juniper. I wrapped it up with a big red bow and created a background using our Herringbone Parquet die. The sentiment is from the new Comfort & Joy set.

  • The BotaniCuts Rowan Branch and BotaniCuts Juniper go nicely together – the Juniper sprigs can be used to add some fullness to the Rowan branches.
  • Add some sparkle to the berries and branches using Stickles or liquid glue and your favorite glitter.
  • Add some subtle ink blending around the edges of our Herringbone Parquet background to add a rustic touch and bring out the texture of the woodgrain.
  • Use colored pencils to add some shading to the Big Beautiful Bow.

Speaking of that new Big Beautiful Bow die, stacking two of them makes a dramatic focal point! I turned this next card into what looks like a wrapped gift.

  • Stacking two Big Beautiful Bows creates a full, round bow that makes a gorgeous focal point.
  • The BotaniCuts Juniper die cuts the perfect little sprigs for tucking in and around the bow. You can leave them intact or snip them apart as needed.
  • The small tag included in the Big Beautiful Bow die is a great place to add a small sentiment. The smallest sentiments from the Sentiment Suite: Christmas set (or any of the Sentiment Suite sets) fit nicely on the tag.
  • Our Tartan Builder Diagonal stencil is perfect for creating holiday plaids.

Next I have several projects using the new Winterland Layers set.

  • The Winterland Layers set creates beautiful focal points, but clustering the images around the outer edges is a great way to frame a sentiment
  • Choose a palette of three or four ink colors with which to stamp images from the Winterland Layers set – here I used Rusty Hinge, Tea Dye, Forest Moss, and Iced Spruce Distress Oxide inks.
  • Add a bit of colored pencil shading to the leaves, white pen dots and a bit of glitter to the berries to further step up the Winterland Layers images.
  • Our Herringbone Parquet die adds just enough texture to add interest to the background without distracting from the design.

This next one uses some non-traditional ink colors for a sugar-plum inspired card using Winterland Layers and a sentiment from the new Comfort & Joy set.

  • Stamping images in unexpected colors can create beautiful effects – here the foliage was stamped in soft pinks and browns for a frosty sugar plum look.
  • Our A2 Arches dies and stencils are great for creating focal points and framing sentiments.
  • Add some glam with metallic cardstock like the rose gold used here (available from Cardstock Warehouse).
  • Adding paint splatters make you nervous? Stamp them instead with the splatter images in the Winterland Layers set

The images from the Winterland Layers are easy to stamp to create borders and backgrounds. This next card again uses a sentiment from the Comfort & Joy set. This sentiment would be great year-round as well if you omitted stamping the holiday season portion of the sentiment, which is a separate stamp, so easy to do.

  • The Winterland Layers set is great for stamping pretty backgrounds. Don’t worry too much about aligning the berries, etc when stamping this way as it can take on a more freestyle look.
  • After stamping, add white dots to the berries using a white pen, along with some glitter and some colored pencil shading to define the berries.
  • White ink splatters are a great way to add a snowy look. My favorite white ink for splattering is Amsterdam Acrylic Ink in Titanium White (Amazon link)

TGIF – Fall Folk Fun with Angelica

I had so much fun creating with the new Harvest Fest Collection, and made a lot of “extras” when working with the products. So today I am going to share how I put these two cards together in no time, since I already had the hard work done.

When I get new product on my desk, I love to play. I might have a card idea, but I’m going to cut several die-cuts, or stencil several backgrounds. I always stamp extra sentiments, so when and if I need a card on the fly, I can quickly assemble one. That’s what I am going to do today. I had an extra panel that I had made with the Fall Folk Stencil Set, so I die-cut a window from the panel with the large Hoopla Oval Inserts Die. I also die-cut 2 red frames with the large Hoopla Oval Die.

To assemble the cards, I die-cut 2 Harringbone Parquet backgrounds, and attached them to card bases. I attached the Fall Folk panel I had die-cut the Oval out of to my first card base. I glued one of the red oval frames, and added a few die-cuts that I had pre-made from the Autumn Harvest Die. To finish the card, I attached a gold heat-embossed sentiment from Thanks All Ways stamp set. Again, I had several sentiment words and banners heat-embossed and die-cut, ready to go.

For my second card, I glued the second red oval frame over the Fall Folk oval, and attached it to the second card base. I kept this card clean and simple, adding just the gold heat-embossed Thanks All Ways sentiment.

I am so in love with this Fall Folk stencil set. I even had my daughter make a few panels with it! She had a blast. I hope I was able to share some tips on cardmaking, and how to set yourself up to make quick cards!

TGIF – Fall Florals with Dawn

Hello there! It’s time again for Inspiration Friday at The Greetery and today is my turn to share!  I find that each month when the release is over, there are still ideas buzzing around in my head, and these Inspiration Friday posts give me a great opportunity to pull those products out again and give them some love.  Many months, however, the ideas are abundant in the middle of working on my release assignments and making a little something extra to share for Inspiration Friday is a great way to mix up those products and get those ideas out of my head and onto a card front before the release is even over!  Such was the case this month….I couldn’t wait to mix up these sets and pair them together for a beautiful and playful card!

I started out with that cutie-patootie Jumbo Curiosity Acorns die and blended some purple and orange on the leaves.  That was really the jumping off point for the whole color scheme of this card! Once I had the acorn in place, I started layering Wildwood florals around it, creating a diagonal spray of florals. The sentiment from Wildwood was the perfect compliment, cut with the matching sentiment die, and tucked into the bottom of the spray. The Herringbone Parquet die made for the perfect background for my spray.

I hope this has given you a bit of inspiration today, and a little nudge to go get creative yourself! Pull out something you haven’t played with in awhile, or something you love but haven’t gotten enough creative time with, and make something pretty!

Pumpkin Kisses with Laurie

Hello Greetery friends!  It’s Laurie Willison here!  Stopping in with a Fall card….in hopes that Fall temps come soon!  I am ready for summer to go away! I grabbed a couple of the new products from the Harvest Fest Collection and paired them with a few older favorites.  Let’s get started!

To create this card, I used the Herringbone Parquet Die on a white card panel.  I adore this little bit of texture with the wood grain look in the background.  This plate will be good for all occasions of cards!  Next, I stamped and die cut the branches from the Rustic Wreath set and added those to my card front.  I grabbed some of the stems from the new Wildwood stamp set and tucked them in behind the pumpkins from the Autumn Harvest Die set. I needed a little shine so I hot foiled a couple of stems from the Fall Foliage Hot Foil set and cut them with the coordinating die.  

To finish off the card, I stamped the perfect fall sentiment from the Top Down Autumn Day Stamp Set onto the center circle die from the Round About Fall Foliage Die.

TGIF – Cozy Autumn with Kelly

Hello friends! It’s Kelly here today sharing some autumn inspiration with you using some older favorites paired with some of the fabulous new products from the Harvest Fest Collection! I haven’t even attempted to start putting it away because the ideas keep flowing! I was so thrilled to use the cute sweater from the Hearts at Home: Sweater die as the focal point for this card! I couldn’t wait to give it an autumn vibe by coloring it in shades of tan and brown for a cozy feeling!

To begin, I die cut all of the sweater pieces using Vintage Cream cardstock. I colored it using finger daubers and Distress Oxide ink. I also added some ink splatter to mimic the look of flecked yarn using watered down ink and a fine-tip paint brush. I glued the waist, neck, and wrist portions to the sweater using liquid glue. I set the sweater aside to dry and then got to work on the rest of the elements I planned to use on this card.

I die cut the Round About Fall Foliage die twice and then colored the leaves using the same technique as the sweater making certain to add in quite a few autumnal tones for variety and interest. I glued them together around the circle portion using liquid glue. My next step was to cut and color the cute pumpkins from the new Autumn Harvest die. These are perfect because they are the same scale as the sweater so they create a balanced look without overwhelming the design.

I used the Herringbone Parquet die for the background and used teal cardstock with Ground Espresso ink around the edges. I layered all of the elements onto the background and even snuck a few leaves from the To Pie For die collection to tuck here and there! Once I had everything arranged, I stamped the “is in the air” portion of the sentiment, which is from the older Fall Foliage stamp set, using Black Soot Distress Oxide ink. In hindsight, I would have stamped this first, but I hadn’t planned the sentiment! Ha ha!

I die cut the Let’s Have a Word: Autumn from dark gray cardstock and then glued it over the top of the focal point using liquid glue. I also added some white paint splatter here and there for some contrast. The finishing touch is a sprinkling of glitter to the leaves and pumpkins! I had so much fun creating this card! I decided yesterday that it is much less painful to embrace autumn than it is to lament the passing of summer….so I am embracing autumn with all of my heart! It truly is one of my FAVORITE seasons and I plan on celebrating it to the fullest this year! Thanks for joining me today!

Wildwood stamp set + die + Sentiments die

Last, but certainly not least, we have a new floral stamp set that’s packed with gorgeous bouquet-building elements. It has a slightly wild feel, making it perfect for fall, but don’t discount it for year-round gorgeous floral projects! The coordinating die cuts all of the floral elements from the set, while the Sentiments die cuts the three sentiments included in the stamp set.

I created two ensembles of projects to share with you using today’s new introductions! You’ll have to let me know…are you drawn to the light & airy set or the dark & moody? I’m loving the dark and moody lately, especially for fall. All those dark, rich colors!

Let’s get to it! First, let’s take a look at the dark & moody projects…

Let me share a few details and project notes about each. First, let’s take a look at this deep, rich floral card made with the new Wildwood set.

  • Create a rich, deep background using the new Herringbone Parquet die cut from dark green/teal cardstock. Brush with some dark brown ink, then brush with white gouache.
  • Stamp the floral images in earthy colors. Mix lots of shades of greens and golds for the foliage.
  • Add some metallic accents for even more drama. The new Round About Fall Foliage die can be snipped apart and bits and pieces tucked into your floral bouquet.
  • Pop some of the floral elements up with foam adhesive to give your bouquet added dimension.
  • Let the florals take center stage by choosing a smaller sentiment – this “with love” is included in the Wildwood set.

Next let’s take a look at this Thanksgiving card done in rich, warm tones, using our new Fall Folk stencil, perfect for the Thanksgiving season.

  • Using pigment inks such as Distress Oxides let you achieve rich, colorful looks even on darker toned cardstock. I used Rustic Wilderness, Crackling Campfire, Iced Spruce, Antique Linen, and Ground Expresso on honey/gold cardstock.
  • Use colored pencils to add details to the Fall Folk stencil. Simple lines and dots are easy to do and add more texture to your design.
  • Keep it simple and just add a sentiment (Thanks All Ways was used here) over the pretty stenciled panel. Quick and easy and perfect for mass producing.

Next is this pretty fall scene using our Elegant Entrance: Arches die and the Autumn Harvest die to add the fall corn stalk bundles, pumpkins, and gourds.

  • The Elegant Entrance: Arches die coordinates with our A2 Arches die. Here I used the arch that is one size above the doors to cut them out with a frame around them. I used the arch that is the same size as the doors to cut an opening in my card front.
  • When adhering the pumpkins and corn husks, make sure to adhere them only to the doors themselves so as not to interfere with the doors opening if you want them to be an interactive element.
  • I adhered the Thankful sentiment from the Thanks All Ways set, using adhesive just on the left side of the word so that it didn’t interfere with opening the doors.
  • Start a sentiment on the outside and finish it on the inside.
  • Set aside the arch cut out from the Herringbone panel to use on another project – it’s too pretty to go to waste!

Next is a card using the new Round About Fall Foliage die. I love how quick and easy it is to stack these to create dramatic focal points in no time!

  • You’ll notice in the background that I used the green Herringbone arch that was cut from my previous project. I layered it over another Herringbone background done in dark brown wood tones.
  • I stacked three of the Round About Fall Foliage dies – just align the center circles and rotate them into a position that you like. Mine are inked in shades of pink and orange.
  • Add some floral elements to your Round About diecuts – here I added a few blooms and greens from the new Wildwood set.
  • Top it off with a diecut sentiment like the Let’s Have a Word: Autumn used here.

Next, a few super easy pumpkin-shaped notes using Plump Pumpkins and Fall Folk dies.

  • Diecut the Plump Pumpkins “on the fold” to create the pumpkin-shaped notecard bases. To do this, just fold a piece of cardstock and position the top of the pumpkin so that it extends above the fold so as not to cut through the fold.
  • Create a shadow effect by diecutting the pumpkins from two shades of cardstock, then stacking them, offsetting slightly to create the shadow. Trim away any excess from the bottom pumpkin.
  • Back the diecut pumpkins with metallic cardstock for lots of elegance! Rose Gold Mirror cardstock from Cardstock Warehouse was used here.

That wraps up our dark and moody ensemble, now let’s take a look at the light & airy projects!

First let’s take a closer look at this slimline card…

  • Diecut the larger Fall Folk motif twice from a Crimped Slimline panel to create a gorgeous background that’s so easy to create.
  • The shorter of the two Plump Pumpkins is the perfect focal point to place in the center of the diecut background.
  • The Round About Fall Foliage diecuts can be snipped apart into smaller bits, perfect for adding little bits around a sentiment or base of a pumpkin.
  • Pumpkins don’t have to be orange! I love sage green ones – so pretty!
  • Add a bit of shading to the background (under the Fall Folk cut-outs) using colored pencils.

This next card combines our new Wildwood florals with the Elegant Entrance: Arches…

  • The window panes in the Elegant Entrance: Arches die are the perfect place for tucking floral elements, foliage, etc.
  • The Curio: Cover die is one that I reach for over and over – those woodgrain strips are so versatile! Stack a few under the arch doorway to add “steps” and ground the arch.
  • The Herringbone Parquet die is striking when done in dark colors, but it takes on a light and airy look when done in softer colors.

Next is a soft and pretty Thanksgiving card using a Plump Pumpkin diecut and some Wildwood florals…

  • Create a soft, weathered background by brushing some tan and gray inks over a white Herringbone Parquet panel, then brush over with white gouache to soften it a bit.
  • Stamp some of the foliage from the Wildwood set onto the parquet background using soft neutral inks.
  • Arrange some Wildwood diecut images around the base of the pumpkin. Keep it soft with shades of gold, sage green, and even a bit a lavender.
  • The gold embossed sentiment (from Thanks All Ways) done on a dark diecut adds just the right amount of pop and contrast.

Next is a softer take on our new Fall Folk stencil…

  • Use the Herringbone Parquet die to create saw-tooth borders. Just trim away the edges by snipping it the edges apart from the center of the panel. You may want to cut it from a panel slightly larger than 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ so that the edges stay more firmly intact when trimmed away from the rest of the parquet panel.
  • Adding some splatters to the stenciled designs adds a rustic touch.
  • A strip cut with the Curio: Cover die makes for a great grounding element that coordinates perfectly with the woodgrain saw-tooth borders.

One more card using the Round About Fall Foliage and some Autumn Harvest diecuts, along with a sentiment from Thanks All Ways…

  • I stacked four Round About Fall Foliage dies to acheive the fullness on this card. Two from rustic white cardstock and two from a very pale green.
  • Add just a little color to the diecuts by coloring the berries. Here I used metallic watercolor in a copper color.
  • The Herringbone Parquet die was used on so many of my projects for the release – most of which I distressed in one way or another, but it looks beautiful cut from kraft and left alone as well!
  • Add some metallic stems to your pumpkins and gourds for a bit of glamour. These were cut from Rose Gold Mirror cardstock.

I loved the dark, dramatic pumpkin notecards I shared above, and had to make a softer, more neutral version as well…

  • Cut the Plump Pumpkins “on the fold” as mentioned above to create the shaped notecards.
  • The Fall Folk die gives these an elegant look.
  • Ink the pumpkins with light brown ink at the base to add depth and shading. Add some splatters using brown watercolor to further distress them.
  • Line the notecards with a pumpkin cut from metallic cardstock.
  • Add a sentiment to the outside, and finish it on the inside. Thanks All Ways was used here.

Harvest Fest Collection Day #1

Welcome to our first day of product reveals and projects for this year’s fall collection, called Harvest Fest! We’ll be showcasing all of the products from our newest collection here on the blog today and tomorrow, and they’ll be available in the shop on Wednesday, August 30 at 10am EDT.

Before I get into today’s product intros, just a heads up that Laurie will be hosting an Instagram Live on our Instagram channel on Tuesday evening, 8/29 at 8pm EDT/7pm CDT. If you aren’t able to join us live, you can watch it any time from our feed.

A note about blog comments

Herringbone Parquet die

This wonderful new background basic is perfect for quickly adding woodgrain texture to your background. The design cuts and embosses a herringbone pattern that stays intact to fill an A2 card. Keep it simple by cutting it from cardstock, or experiment with inking techniques using your favorite mediums to achieve realistic wood effects.

Angelica is joining us on our Youtube channel today to showcase several of today’s new products…

Now for some projects from me! First are several projects featuring our new To Pie For die and other new products being introduced today.

First up is a set of adorable packaged notecards using our To Pie For die and a few other coordinating products, both old and new!

  • Create folded round notecard bases by cutting the plain circle from the To Pie For die “on the fold”, then attach your embellished pie to this base.
  • Our Hey Cupcake die coordinates well with our To Pie For die, offering more topping options
  • Our Fall Foodie Phrases set has lots of great sentiment options to create a mixed occasion notecard set, great for gift giving.
  • Small paper pie tins (available from Amazon HERE) are a great way to package a set of notecards. Each one will hold 4-6 notecards depending on the level of embellishments.
  • Our Sweet & Fancy Labels set is also a great companion sentiment set for the pies (used here to create the label).
  • Wrap your notecard set with a band cut with the Ribbon Maker: Petite Scallops die, or one of our other Ribbon Maker dies. Stack the card-filled tin on top of some 4″ envelopes and wrap to secure, adding some twine if desired.
  • Add “sugar” and “whip cream” to your pies using glitter and white puffy paint.
  • Use the largest die from the Crimped Circles set to cut a piece of acetate to use as a clear top for your pie tin.

Next is a fun card that makes me think I can smell the warm apple cinnamon!

  • Our Frosted Frames die is perfect for pairing with the To Pie For die to create a cute scalloped border
  • To create rustic colored wood backgrounds with the Herringbone Parquet die, cut it from colored cardstock (red was used here), then brush over it very lightly with a brown ink pad (directly from pad to paper), then use a paint brush to lightly brush with white paint or gouache. Splatter with white and brown inks to add further distressing (I’ll share a reel for this technique soon! 🙂 )
  • The apple slice included in the BotaniCuts Apple set is perfect for pairing with the new Cinnamon stick die for a cute accent.

This time I created a shaker card and filled it with our new Apple Spice Bits…

  • Create a shaker card by diecutting the plain circle from the To Pie For set from a panel of cardstock (I diecut my panel first with the Herringbone Parquet to add texture). Back it with clear acetate, then layer over your card base (add the shaker contents first!) making sure foam adhesive completely closes off the circle area so your shaker elements stay contained. Top it off by adding the crust to the card front.
  • Weave in some of the strips left from the diecut negative of the crust to create realistic woven top crusts.
  • The Blessed Blooms set used here for the sentiment is a great fall go-to for sentiments.

The To Pie For set can be super fun, but it can also take on an elegant look here like on this Thanksgiving card which also uses the new Thanks All Ways stamp set and matching die.

  • Use shades of brown to ink your Herringbone Parquet panel for a relistic wood look. Oxide inks were used here in Brushed Corduroy, Walnut Stain, and Ground Espresso.
  • Use the strips left from the negative of the pie crust and weave them in. Cover any exposed ends with the leaves from the set.
  • Ink the leaves and the crust from light brown ink to make everything look as if it was created from dough! Tea Dye Oxide ink was used here.
  • Use your fingertips to slightly bend the scallops of the crust for added dimension.
  • Heat emboss your sentiment with gold embossing powder for an elegant touch.

Now for a few projects using our Caramel Apple die paired with some of the other new goodies!

First up are some fun caramel apple tags.

  • Diecut the apple “on the fold” to create a shaped base.
  • Ink the caramel diecuts with oxide inks to create the perfect caramel color. I used Brushed Corduroy and Gathered Twigs.
  • After inking, press the diecuts into a Versamark pad (or other embossing ink), then coat with Ultra Thick Embossing powder to give the caramel some shine. Repeat if needed to get a nice thick glossy coat.
  • Use liquid glue once it’s cooled to add the Nutty Bits. Sprinkle them on the wet glue, and place a clear stamping block on top while it dries (that was such a great tip from Nicole Spohr in her video last month!)
  • Add some tags – our Tear Strip Tags die is a great companion, stamped with the Fall Foodie Phrases set or the Tear Strip Tags: Halloween set.

Another fun shaker card, this time using the Caramel Apple die…

  • Cut the apple from a panel of cardstock, then cover the opening with acetate to create the shaker window. Use foam tape on the backside all around the apple shape to contain your shaker bits. Adhere this panel to the card base (adding your shaker bits first)
  • Instead of diecutting the Herringbone Parquet (which cuts slits between the planks), use it with a rubber embossing mat and your machine’s recommended embossing sandwich to emboss the design instead of cutting it. This leaves a solid panel without any cuts between the planks.
  • The Curio Cover die has the perfect “wood” strips to use as a “shelf” or grounding element for the apple.
  • The Cozy Cup Coaster die is a great to add a little “fabric” scrap under the apple.

I couldn’t resist creating a spooky bad apple for a fun Halloween card!

  • The Fall Foodie Phrases set has tons of mix and match sentiments. Getting a little creative with other sets, alphabet dies, or a bit of masking allows you to create even more. The Bold Alphabet dies were used here for the “bad” portion of the sentiment.
  • Create a “bad” apple by diecutting from red cardstock, then sponging with with dark red and even black ink. Add some black splatters!
  • Add some spooky stars and sparkles using the Pinwheel Party stamp set

And last but not least, a project using the new Jumbo Curiosity Acorns die…

  • Vibrantly inked diecuts placed on a dark background make for a striking effect.
  • The weathered wood panel here was created the same way as the red background on the Apple Pie card earlier in this post, this time I used a muted blue-gray cardstock.
  • Cluster some other diecuts in with the Jumbo Acorns – leaves from the BotaniCuts Mighty Oak and Jumbo Curiosity Buckeye Leaf were used here, plus a few blooms from the BotaniCuts Apple die.
  • Acorns don’t have to be brown. Ink them in shades of gold, brown, and green. They can even be pink if you’d like! 🙂
  • Heat emboss the sentiments using gold embossing powder onto dark cardstock to further the dark, dramatic look. The Thanks All Ways set is so elegant!
