Potted Wildflower Birthday with Dana

Hi Greetery friends! It’s Dana here today and I am stopping by to share a birthday card with you all. For my card, I mixed and matched lots of my favorite products from The Greetery. Let’s get started…

I started my card by using the Modern Planters die set to make my pots. I then used the BontaniCuts Wildflower Mix dies to create my blooms. I watercolored the florals and foliage and then assembled the stems and tucked them into my pots.

Next, I used the Wicker Weave stencil set to create my card panel. I trimmed the panel down and attached it to an A2 card base. I then attached my pots with foam adhesive. Lastly, I used the Tear Strips Tags: Birthday stamp set and Tear Strip Banner dies to create my sentiment.

Thanks for joining me today and I hope you enjoyed my card. I love how by just changing the sentiment this card will be perfect for many different occasions.

TGIF – Wildflower Windows with Angelica

Angelica is here with a simply beautiful set of window cards – such a clever yet simple use of products! Let’s hear all about it from Angelica…

I recently made a few cards using watercolors as my medium. It’s been awhile since I’ve done that, so I thought it would be fun to watercolor a few Wildflowers. I have watercolored them before, and loved the results. There’s no special technique to doing this, just brush paint onto the die-cut flowers, let the flowers dry, and see if you need a second or third coat of paint.

I die-cut 2 panels of Arches cold pressed watercolor paper with the Wildflower Mix dies, then added painters tape to the back of the panel to keep the little flowers and stems in place. I used Mission Gold watercolors to color the flowers. These paints are super vibrant, and have very stable lightfast. (The colors won’t fade.) I did do two layers of paint on the flowers, drying the panel with my heat tool before adding the second layer.

Once all of the pieces were dry, I unattached them from the tape, and glued them together. There is no wrong or right way to glue the flowers together, I just glued what I thought looked good. Once all of the flowers were done, I moved onto the card panel.

I trimmed 4 white panels to 3.75×5 inches, and used the small Window Dressing die to die-cut windows in the middle of the panels. I even turned the die 90 degrees for diamond windows. I stamped Thank You from Hoop Wreath stamp set, then attached the panels to card bases with foam adhesive. I made small arrangements of flowers for the window, and attached them with thin foam squares a few drops of glue.

I am so happy with how vibrant the flowers turned out against the white-on-white background. I hope I was able to share a few tips and ideas with you today. Thanks so much for stopping by!

TGIF – Spring Rustic Wreath with Kelly

We’re continuing the trend from last week’s TGIF where Dawn encouraged us to think beyond the seasons when it comes to our crafting supplies. Kelly’s here with another idea for you, this time using the Rustic Wreath dies for a springy project. This set was originally released in the fall, so it’s fun to see her springy take on these products!

Hello and welcome! It’s Kelly here today sharing a springtime card using an idea that I’ve had swirling
around in my head for a while; actually, since the Rustic Wreath was first released. I thought it would be
fun to swap out the twig looking wreath and color it with some green Distress Oxide inks and add some
of the petite flowers from the BotaniCuts Wildflower Mix.

To begin, I die cut the wreath base and 4 each of the two twig branches and used the assembly guide to
put the wreath together. I used liquid glue and followed each step on the guide until it was complete. I
used springy colors for the flowers and attached them using liquid glue and mini foam squares until I
was satisfied with the arrangement.

I stamped the sentiment, which is from the Lovely Blossoms stamp set, directly in the center of a
Crimped Circle using black ink. I added the wreath over the top using foam squares for dimension. The
background was created using the Seed Catalog Background stamp on an A2 panel of white cardstock. I
also added the swirl die that is included in the Frosted Frames die collection to frame the wreath.

I added the wreath in the middle of the background panel using additional foam squares. I also stamped
the accent sentiment, that is also included in the Lovely Blossoms stamp set, and die cut it using one of
the small banner dies in the Sentiment Suite Basics die collection. The bow is from the fabulous Put a
Bow On It stamp/die set. I used three different colors of ink to the main bow image, layering the ink with
finger sponge daubers for a natural look. The detail image was stamped using the darkest of the 3
yellow inks. I added it to the bottom of the wreath and then positioned the accent sentiment portion
using mini foam squares.

I added the panel to a top-folding A2 card base using liquid glue and then sprinkled some glitter over the
top of the wreath for some sparkle and shine. I didn’t have a particular recipient in mind when I sat
down to create this card, but I love that it could be used for a sympathy card all the way to a birthday
card, depending on your needs. This is one that I’ll add to my stash for a rainy day! Thanks for joining me

Wildflower Mix with Kelly + Save the Date

Happy Friday! Kelly is here with a couple of gorgeous projects! But first, a little heads up that new products are coming to the shop soon! We’ll start sharing some sneak peeks a week from today. Our newest collection is called Garden Variety and I can’t wait to show you all of the fun things!

Now let’s hear from Kelly and the amazing projects she’s sharing today…

Hello friends, it’s Kelly here today! I’m so thrilled you’ve joined me today as I share a duo of bold
wildflower birthday cards! I can’t decide which layout I like better: landscape or vertical, so I made one
of each! The flower clusters are so much fun to create, so I just kept going and going, which turned out
to be plenty for two cards.

To begin, I die cut all of the flowers and stems twice using the BotaniCuts Wildflower Mix dies. I also had
a few stems and flowers left over from a previous project so I added those in as well. I colored all of the
stems and flowers using finger daubers and Distress Oxide inks. I chose to give each type of stem a
unique combination of inks to really give some variation and depth to the stems and leaves. I chose
traditional colors for the flowers and then glued them to the stems using liquid glue. I was having such a
fabulous time as each new sprig was added to the pile.

For the background, I simply die cut the largest frame in the Nordic Frames collection using black
cardstock. I added some white paint splatter, allowed it to dry, and then added it to the black card base
using foam squares for dimension. Once that was done, I got to work on the sentiments.
I die cut the outline for both the “Celebrate” and “Birthday” words and then stamped them using the
Birthday Blooms stamp set in black ink. The companion sentiments, which are also from the Birthday
Blooms stamp set, are heat embossed in white onto strips of black cardstock. I added the main
sentiment piece to the front of each card using foam squares. I glued the different wildflower clusters
here and there until I was happy with each arrangement. I added the companion sentiment to the card
using additional foam squares.

Once I finished, I realized that I hadn’t added any pen or colored pencil details to the leaves and flowers.
I used a black pen to add centers to some of the flowers and then a few colored pencils for the leaves
and additional flowers. I opted not to add any glitter or sequins, which is surprising for me! Ha ha! There
is a method to my madness, however; I didn’t want any stray glitter specks to fall onto the black
cardstock and make the cards look too busy. I felt it would compete with the ink splatter, so I resisted. If
you can’t live without a little sparkle, you could always use a Wink of Stella glitter pen or something
similar to add glitter where you’d like. Thanks for joining me today!

TGIF – Thinking Outside the Curio Box

Good morning and happy Friday! I’m back again for this week’s TGIF. I hope you don’t mind another Curio: Confections card! I have this set out on my desk and have been having so much fun with it. We’re expecting another batch of these dies to arrive here today, so watch for them to come back in stock in the shop very soon! I was inspired to use this die in a bit of a different way for today’s project!

I’m loving the natural trend I’ve been seeing in home decor…dried florals, warm woods, and linen textures. That whole vibe was what inspired today’s project. I thought it would be fun to take the Curio Confections candies and instead turn them into little frames, paired up with the bitty flowers from our BotaniCuts Wildflower Mix die.

I started out by diecutting the Curio Confections from both white cardstock and some cotton fabric. I really wanted something with more of a linen texture, but couldn’t find any in my fabric stash, so opted for just some lightweight cotton muslin instead. I backed a piece of the muslin with a double-sided adhesive sheet before diecutting it with the Curio: Confections die. I used these fabric diecuts as my “canvases” for creating the flower designs. To create the tiny “wood” frames, I used my cardstock diecuts and inked them up with shades of brown Oxide inks. I used Gathered Twigs and Ground Espresso. For some of them, I diecut the plain “candy” shape from the center of the “wrapper” portion to create frames. I layered these over my muslin diecuts.

Inside each frame I arranged small leaves and flowers cut with our BotaniCuts Wildflower Mix die. I snipped the leaves from the stems, since I just wanted to create small clusters. The coloring on the flowers was done with colored pencils. I also added some “hangers” for my frames using brown twine and tiny brads. I assembled my card by first adding the outer wood frame to my card base using our Curio: Cover die. Then I took my assortment of frames and played around with different arrangements until I settled on this design. I stamped a sentiment in the oblong frame in the upper left corner, using a sentiment from the Pitcher-esque set. You could swap out the sentiment and use this card for all sorts of occasions.

New Opposites Attract Script Dies – Available Now!

Happy Monday! Just popping in with a little surprise and a little inspiration for your Monday. We just added a new die to the shop, which coordinates with the script sentiments from the Opposites Attract set, which was released back in November. Opposites Attract is one of my favorite sentiment sets and now there are even more layering options with these new script sentiments! The new script die can be found HERE.

Here are a few cards using these new dies along with the Opposites Attract stamp set existing dies…

This first card is something I’ve been wanting to create for awhile! I wanted to play with creating an ombré effect with lots of little blooms from the BotaniCuts Wildflower and Forget-Me-Nots sets. I started with tiny blooms and light colors and worked towards larger blooms and darker color concentrated around that pretty sentiment. I love the layering possibilities with the new script dies!

This next card uses the Lovely Blossoms stamps. I love this set and have been wanting to pull it out again! I stamped the blooms directly onto a panel cut with the Crimped Frames die, then layered the Opposites Attract sentiments over the top.

Lastly, a birthday card using our BotaniCuts Sunflower die (with leaves from the BotaniCuts Rose set). I was obviously on a pink kick with today’s card trio, so instead of traditional yellow, we have some soft, pink blooms. I diecut and stamped three of the “happy” sentiments from Opposites Attract, then layered the “birthday to you” script over the top of the leaves and blooms.

TGIF – Wildflower Stationery Set with Angelica

Happy Friday! Angelica is joining us today with some inspiration for creating your own set of pretty stationery, perfect for gifting. Her project is amazing! Enjoy…

My elderly neighbor has a birthday coming up, so I decided to make her a gift. If you know me, you know I LOVE to make card sets. And surprise! That’s exactly what I did for Miss Laura. She doesn’t get out much, so I thought cards and postage stamps would be a perfect gift to help her stay in touch with her loved ones.

Starting with BotaniCuts Wildflower Mix, I die-cut several watercolor panels, and painted them with Mijello Mission Gold Watercolor paints. I glued the flowers together, and grouped them in little bouquets. I “tied” the bouquets together with the small twine ribbon from Fit To Be Tied Die Collection.

For the Blue background, I stamped Painterly Stripes Background onto TE Blue Corn card stock, using Blue Corn ink. I attached the panels to card bases, and got the Postal Frame panels ready.

For a dainty sentiment, I used a stamp from the gorgeous Pretty Postmarks Stamp Set. I set the sentiment up in my MISTI, and stamped all of the Postal Frame panels the same. Once finished, I attached the white panels onto the card bases, and glued on the bouquets.

For the gift box, I started with a 12×12 card stock, and trimmed it to 9×9. I picked a stamp from Summer Sketches stamp set to stamp a background with. Once finished, I used my Envelope Punch Board to make an envelope box. There’s lots of tutorials on YouTube on how to make an “Envelope Maker Box”. Jennifer McGuire has a great one, and that’s the tutorial that I followed. You can find it HERE.

To close the flap, I made a belly band. I cut white card stock to 1.5″ x 11″, and scored lines at 2″, 2 3/4″, 7 1/4″, and 8″. I folded the band on the scored lines, and glued the ends together.. I stamped a Sentiment Suite: Birthday sentiment onto the band, and added a last minute strip of blue card stock for added interest. I finished the band with my last flower bouquet.

I can’t wait to get this over to Miss Laura’s. I left enough room in the box for some postage stamps, and might even go find a pretty pen to match! I hope I have passed on some crafty inspiration… Thanks for joining me today!

TGIF – How Does Your Garden Grow?

Happy Friday, friends! I’m up for today’s TGIF project – it’s something I’ve had in mind for a bit, and was excited to find some time this week to put the idea into action! I’ve been loving the BotaniCuts Wildflower die from our latest release, and I thought it would be fun to combine it with our Square Dance die (which makes a great lattice background!) to grow a cute springy garden. While it’s been pretty nice here, we are still a ways off from having real flowers growing, so the paper version will have to do for now.

I set to work creating this spring scene by starting off with the BotaniCuts Wildflower Mix die. I used the same technique as in THIS introductory video for the die — sponging with ink and adding details with colored pencils and pens. When I was finished coloring, I assembled the little blossoms onto the stems. I then had a whole garden of wildflowers to arrange on my lattice background.

I decided it would be fun to create a card base that allowed the lattice to peek-a-boo to the inside of the card, so I pulled out my Nordic Frames die and diecut it from the front of my card base. This left just a narrow border around the edges. Since you are using the negative portion of the diecut, any die that’s slightly smaller than your card base will work – the design or pattern of it doesn’t really matter, you just need it to create a window. I sponged some Tumbled Glass Oxide ink to the top portion of the card base – both on that outer frame/card front and on the inside of the card, since it shows through the window.

I then went to work arranging my wildflower stems on the Square Dance lattice diecut, tucking the stems into the squares, and layering them to create a full garden. Once I was happy with it and the flowers were all adhered, I secured my lattice panel over my card base (the one I just cut the window from). The lattice just gets adhered to that narrow frame around the edges. To give the inside of the card a cleaner appearance and cover my flower stems, I cut a second lattice and adhered it to the inside of the card, back-to-back against my front lattice piece.

To finish it off, I decided my garden needed some grass, so I used the Drifting die to cut the gentle slope and pretty scroll detail along the bottom. This die was designed to be snow drifts, but sponge it with some green ink and it makes for pretty rolling hills, too! Finally, I added a sentiment which was done with the Let’s Have a Word: Spring die and a “happy” from the PreText Sentiments stamp set, stamped onto a matching PreText Banners diecut.

Bunny Hop Stamp + Stencil and Die

Hippity-hoppity, happy Easter! This stamp + stencil set is filled with all of the sweet things of spring. The included multi-step stencils work together with the stamps to make creating the bunny wreaths super easy! There are also individual bunnies in the stamp set, which can be layered over the wreath for added dimension, or used on their own to create other fun designs. While this set is perfect for Easter, it’s also wonderful for sweet baby projects!

PreText Sentiment stamp set and PreText Banners die

Do you find yourself looking through your various sentiment stamps to find little phrases to combine with your favorite word dies? Not anymore! Are you ready for some projects? We also have some videos for you today!

Let’s kick it off with some projects using Bunny Hop.

This one-layer Easter card was so fun and quick to create. The stencil and stamp combo make it so quick and foolproof. Once I was finished stenciling and stamping the bunny wreath, I diecut just the inner portion to create a window so that I could stamp the sentiment on the inside of the card.

I put together a video while I was creating this card so you could see this set in action. After the video I did add a little colored pencil shading to the tulips and bunnies, and also a little glitter to their tails. 🙂

The other card from this duo is stepped up a bit with some added layers. That’s one of the fun things about this set – you can make a quick and easy card, or spend more time on the details…whatever you’re in the mood for! This time I diecut the inside and outside of the bunny wreath and layered it over a mint green background which was stamped with the Painterly Striped Background stamp. Inside the wreath I added the new Let’s Have a Word: Spring diecut. I finished the sentiment with the “happy” from the new PreText Sentiments stamp set and matching Banners die. I popped the wreath up some foam tape for extra dimension.

My next card uses the individual bunnies, tulips, and carrots from the Bunny Hop set. I thought it would be so fun to create w scene with them and our new BotaniCuts Wildflower Mix dies. I pulled out a new die we’ll be showcasing tomorrow to create a slimline card base. This gave me lots of room for a whole train of hopping bunnies!

Between the bunnies I scattered some of the small tulip and carrot clusters from the set. The taller blooms were created with our new Wildflower Mix die. The shorter sprig way on the left was created with one of the carrot tops from our new BotaniCuts Carrot and embellished with a few blooms from the Wildflower die. Those sweet little bunnies hopping through the garden make me smile!

For my next project, I thought it would be fun to use the Bunny Hop set to create a baby card.

I used the same one-layer card design as I did in the video above and just cut a window from the center of the bunny wreath. The “welcome baby” sentiment is from the Balloon Bouquet set. Instead of stenciling the 4th step – the carrots – I omitted that step. Instead I pulled out the little heart stamp and matching die from the Signed & Sealed with a Kiss set. The hearts fill in perfectly where the carrots are supposed to be! I was so happy with how that worked out. To finish it off I added some colored-pencil shading and Stickles to the hearts. I also added polka dots to the bunnies using a white gel pen.

My next card is my favorite of the day. Do you ever have an idea for something in your head and then it turns out just like you envisioned it? I thought it would be so fun to create a dramatic look with some bright orange carrots and a mix of wildflowers on a black background.

I had so much fun arranging these bright carrots and blooms on a black background, cut with another new slimline die we’ll be showcasing tomorrow. For the sentiment, I used a combination of stamps and dies from our new PreText set and the Let’s Have a Word: Easter die. Before adding the sentiment though, I couldn’t resist adding some white paint splatters which just really gave the whole thing a fun pop! Can you imagine swapping out the sentiment for a summery thank you card? It would be perfect!

My next card again uses both of the new BotaniCuts – the Wildflowers and the carrots, but this time for a much softer look. This time I clustered them into a bouquet, tied up with our new Put a Bow on It set.

The BotaniCuts carrots have some small cut-line details that make them so realistic. They’re very easy to color – I just sponged them with shades of orange and added a little colored pencil shading to each of those cut-line details. There is one small cut slit at the top in which you can tuck the carrot greens. Here I also tucked in three wildflower sprigs, and filled in with more carrot greens. The But a Bow on It set includes several sentiments that can be stamped on the longer tail. I used the “happy easter” sentiment here.I layered my carrot bouquet over a new Nordic Circles die (you’ll be seeing more of these tomorrow!)

For my final card today, I really wanted to try combining the new Wildflower Mix dies with our BotaniCuts Lily die that was release last year for Easter. I love how they work together!

Once again I went with a slimline card base. I am absolutely loving this new size! It’s just the thing to spice up your card making – there’s nothing like a new size to play around with different arrangements and layouts. I used our new Crimped Slimline (more on that tomorrow!) I covered the smaller panel from the set with a whitewashed shiplap using out Shiplap Builder die. I diecut and assembled a single lily and bud, then filled in around it with an assortment of wildflower stems. For the sentiment I again pulled out the handy Pretext Sentiments set and matching Banners die to pair with our new Let’s Have a Word: Easter die. I love how this one turned out and I think I have just the right person to send it to!
