Angelica is joining us today with a gorgeous card using our new BotaniCuts Rowan Branch die. So perfect for the upcoming holidays, or even a winter birthday with a different sentiment! Let’s hear all about it from Angelica…
Have you started making your Christmas cards for the upcoming season? I sure have, and I have a specific card I want to share with you today. As most of you know, I love making die-cut backgrounds, and when I saw the beautiful BotaniCuts Rowan Branch Die, I knew I wanted to make a background with it.
I started first with the branches. I die-cut white card stock with the die set, then colored the branches with Distress Oxide inks. I used Ground Espresso, Candied Apple, and Rustic Wilderness inks, applying the ink with sponge daubers. I glued the pieces together, splattered white paint over the branches, and added Ranger Multi Media Matte to the snowy parts of the branches. I sprinkled Distress Rock Candy clear glitter over the adhesive, and set the branches aside to dry.
While the adhesive was drying, I made a background. I started with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink. I smooshed the ink pad down onto my craft mat, sprayed the ink with water, then started smooshing a panel of watercolor paper into the ink. I dried the paper, then did a second layer of the same ink. Picked Weathered Wood ink as my last layer, smooshing the paper into the ink one time. Once the panel was dried, it was time to add the branches.
I made a quick arrangement of the branches not the background. I glued the pieces into place, and trimmed the edges. I attached the panel to a card base with foam adhesive, and finished the card with a Comfort And Joy sentiment, cut with the matching die.
I love how pretty these branches look against the inked background. And believe me- this card is so sparkly in person. Adding the glitter to the snow really elevated this scene. That’s all that I have for now… Thanks for stopping by!
