Strength for Today with Angelica

Hello, friends! I’m so happy to be joining you here on The Greetery’s blog. I have two cards to share with you today, showcasing one of my favorite stamp sets from the Autumn Air Collection, Strength For Today stamp set.

For my first card, I made a simple tone-on-tone background, using Pierced Plaid Pierce Plate for the smaller panel. I added a die-cut Strength For Today sentiment, and finished this clean and simple card with a watercolored Jumbo Curiosity Dragonfly.

I used the same products on my second card, this time adding a frame. I stamped some teal cardstock with Elegant Arches Stamp, and die-cut a window with the coordinating A2 Arches die. I backed the frame with a Pierced Plaid panel, and attached the sentiment and dragonfly with foam adhesive.

Fresh & Lemony Ensemble with Dawn

Hello there!  It’s Dawn here, and it’s my turn to share a project and today, I wanted to play a bit more with the new Large Lemon stencil and die and made a birthday card along with a coordinating gift tag.  Won’t these be fun to gift together?!

For the card, I layered up a couple of the A2 Stitched Scallops die cuts and topped them with the big ole lemon! Haha! I love that thing! Behind the lemon, I layered one of the new Bird of Paradise Border die cuts.

PRO TIP: You can totally change up how you use that Bird of Paradise border die cut! It doesn’t have to be a border at all, if you snip it apart and use the leaves wherever you need them for your design! In this case, I just cut it in half, making two pieces out of it and then, when tucking them behind the lemon, I angled each section outward diagonally. This creates more of a frame around the lemon AND it hides the bottom “straight edge” of the border die cut, so that you can’t tell it’s also a border at all!

I used the Large Lemon stencil to add some shading to the lemon and added a bit of ink blending to the bases of a couple of the flower leaves, too.

PRO TIP: Cut three sets of the flower dies — each set from a different color card stock, and then mix and match the centers so you end up with 6 flowers in a few different color combos that all coordinate with your card!

Lastly, I finished things off with a sentiment from Squeeze the Day Sentiments stamp set and matching die.

For the gift tag, I just punched a hole at the top of the lemon to run some twine through and voila!  Gift Tag! The sentiment is from the Four Square Holiday Tags stamp set and matching die.

I hope I’ve given you a bit of inspiration today, to create a little coordinating set of your own!

TGIF – Travel-inspired Vintage Type with Angelica + Vacation Notice for June 22-29

Happy Friday! Angelica is here sharing a fun project with us today, but before we get to that, I just wanted to drop a note about next week…

We’re taking a bit of time to rest and rejuvenate before we head into our busiest season of the year! We’ll be operating with very limited staff next week, June 22-29. Orders will ship out, but not every day as is our usual shipping schedule. Please allow extra time for your order to be processed. Customer Service will be closed. We look forward to responding to any customer service inquiries when we return on July 1.

Now let’s hear about Angelica’s beautiful card…

I recently traveled with my family to Sweden. We stayed with our best friend from high school, and he took us all over the region, including Old Town, Stockholm. I couldn’t get over how beautiful the old buildings were, and the cobblestone roads and alleys were beyond charming. Two colors that kept popping up throughout Old Town were Sweden’s flag colors: yellow and blue. I used those colors as inspiration for today’s card.

I used the Vintage Type Stamp + Cut Combo to make the yellow typewriter. I die-cut light yellow and gold paper to add accents. Once I had the typewriter put together, I stamped a sentiment from Sign Off stamp set onto the typewriter “paper”. Before I attached the typewriter to a card base, I stamped the card base with Fresh Floral Background stamp. I attached the typewriter to the card base, and finished the card with blue and green Graceful Stems die.

I love how this card turned out, and I love where the inspiration came from. That’s that I have for today. Thanks for stopping by!

TGIF – Honeycomb Birthday Tags with Wanda + Save the Date

Hey everyone and happy Friday! Wanda is here with a super fun project using some of the Hey Honeycomb products from our last release. Perfect timing for some inspiration, as we just restocked the Honeycomb Balls! Before we get to that, I just wanted to give you a little heads up that we’re busy getting everything ready for our next new product release!

Next week we’ll be showcasing lots of new products coming to the shop as part of our Garden Party collection. There are lots of fun summer items, but also some great basics, and things for year-round occasions. This collection is filled with all of the pretty things you might find at a summer garden party. We can’t wait to show you everything! We’ll kick off the week with some sneak peeks starting on Monday.

Hi there my creative and crafty friends! It’s Wanda here on The Greetery Blog today to share a project with you! I am always so excited and happy to share with you. Happy Summer! For my project for today I created some festive and fun gift tags using lots of my favorite Greetery supplies! I am obsessed with honeycombs now, thanks to Betsy! I have some special birthdays coming up and I always love to make something handmade….

I created two gift tags – one is a gift box decoration and the other one I haven’t decided yet – maybe a tie on to a bottle of champagne, or as a gift bag tie on! 

I started by die cutting two of the big tags using the Tag Team Duo dies – they are the perfect size tag! I used the Tag Team Duo matching stencils to stencil pink polka dots on one tag and mint green stripes on the other tag. For stenciling I used Distress Inks and blender brushes. The perfect party backgrounds!

Next I die cut all the pieces to make a Hey Honeycomb Balloon and a Hey Honeycomb Ice Cream Cone. I used cardstock shades to match those cute Party Honeycomb Balls. I added bits of ink shading and also Stickles Diamond glitter glue. I affixed the honeycomb balls to the die cut pieces using liquid glue.

For the accents I splattered on some white paint and created gold streamers for both tags. I added a pretty ribbon from my stash and little scattered gems and pearls. For the sentiments I used the Tear Strip Banners Dies along with the Tear Strip Tags Birthday stamps. These were perfect across the bottom of my tags. 

For the gift, I wrapped it in Kraft wrapping paper first. I added a star border using the Star Strip Die and made it from matching cardstock to the balloon. Just a little extra touch. 

This is such a fun way to embellish a gift! These tags would also be nice for a graduation party gift, or any other celebration!

Patriotic Card Showcase

Hi all and happy Friday! This past Monday we celebrated Memorial Day here in the US, which, along with the start of summer, always puts me in the mood to create some USA-inspired cards. One of the cards I’m sharing here today was posted on Instagram on Monday. I’ve had a few requests to share more details about that card, so that’s on today’s agenda, along with a few more patriotic cards!

I had some fun ideas for using our Rolling Hills stencil set to create some patriotic backgrounds. I wanted to experiment with using it in both the traditional way it was designed, but also in some more unconventional ways. This first card is the one I shared on Instagram on Monday (it’s also our Card of the Week, so everything used here is 15% off!). I used the striped hill stencils from the Rolling Hills set to create a flag background. This was easy to do, just by positioning the stencils in a different way than they were designed to be used.

Over my striped flag background I layered a floral panel that was done with the Print Shop: Spring Mix set, and cut with the coordinating die. The sentiment is actually from a holiday set (Comfort & Joy), I just trimmed off the bottom line of the sentiment to make it appropriate for this occasion.

Here is a little step by step for you for creating the background…

With the Fourth of July approaching fast, I decided to play around with a few more ideas, again using the Rolling Hills stencil paired with a few other goodies. This first one uses the Rolling Hills as they were designed, but stenciled in patriotic reds and blues.

I foiled some fireworks in the sky using our Glow hot foil plate, and added some small gold stars cut with the Ribbon Maker: Pinked Stars die. The sentiment was done with our Bold Alphabet dies to spell “America”, and a “happy birthday” sentiment from the Four Square Birthday stamp set.

My last card uses the stripes from Rolling Hills in a completely different way. I envisioned creating a sort of flag-blowing-in-the-wind kind of look! 🙂 I just kind of went free-form and started at the top (very much like the first card I shared in the step-by-step above) stenciling the various striped sections from the Rolling Hills stencil set, building the design as I moved along, nestling various striped sections, rotating and positioning as needed to fill in each area. I filmed the process and I’ll share a quick Instagram reel soon!

To add even more depth to the background, I used a couple of shades of ink – bright red (Festive Berries Oxide) and a deeper red (Aged Mahagony) for stenciling the stripes. To finish off the card I added some gold ink splatters and a few Rustic Stars (small and large). The “celebrate” sentiment is from the Birthday Blooms stamp set, cut with the coordinating die. The pinked edge along the bottom was cut with the Ribbon Maker: Pinked Stars die.

TGIF – Award Winning Love with Wanda

Hi there my creative and crafty friends! It’s Wanda here on The Greetery Blog today to share a project with you! I am always so excited and happy to share with you. Hope you’re doing great! I am still so in love with the new release and I decided to make another project featuring some of the new items. I was inspired by the awesome Award Winning dies and really wanted to make a more vintage/masculine project using them. It’s always fun to see how using a different color palette or style can change the look of our favorite stamps and dies….

My finished card is an A2 cream card base. I covered it in diamond harlequin paper and then layered a Postal Frame diecut in cream. The star of the card is the Award Winning Dies! I used the XOXO from the Typed Greetings Dies to make the center of the award stand out. 

I started this card by die cutting all the pieces of the award using patterned papers and cardstocks. I generously inked up all the pieces with Antique Linen Distress Ink to make it all look aged and vintage. In between the bottom two layers of the award, I created a rosette layer by folding strips of paper in an accordion fashion. Then I glued all the layers together to make my award. I die cut the XOXO using silver and black cardstocks and attached it to the award using foam dots. I added a mirrored heart charm also. Finally I added a couple silver streamers die cut from the Hey Honeycomb Balloons die set. 

It is always nice to have some masculine cards on hand for the guys in our lives! My husband loves the vintage look, so he will most likely be the recipient of this card for our anniversary this year.

TGIF – Hey Honeycomb Balloons with Dawn

Hey, Friends!  Dawn here to share a fun project with you!  I wanted to put that cute new Hey Honeycomb balloon die to use and create a birthday balloon cluster, pairing one of the Honeycomb Balls with a sentiment from Inflated Sentiments!  Can we just talk about the color of that PINK honeycomb ball?!!  Oh my word, I love it so much!  I need that color in ink and card stock and all the things!  LOL!  And I love that when it’s opened it’s going to be such a fun — and unexpected — pop of color here, since that same color isn’t anywhere else on the card!  It truly is as the stamp from the Hey Honeycomb Sentiments set says….”birthday surprise inside”! 

I used the Ticker Tape rubber stamp to stamp the background.  I wanted a subtle pop….not a major contrast that might distract from the focal point.  But also not as subtle as like a Versamark would be.  To achieve this, I used a dark gray ink but stamped it off once first, before stamping it on the card base. 

I added a sweet flower from the Hey Honeycomb Flower Power die set, to accent one balloon, so each of them has its own fun details.

PRO TIP: I even used one of the flower dies from the same set, to create the leaves!  I just cut a few of the petals apart and tucked them behind the flower and voila!  Leaves!

A strip of glitter card stock at the bottom, upped the birthday fun factor, to finish things off!

TGIF – Sweet Postal Baby Cards with Kelly

Hello and welcome! It’s Kelly here today with a pair of baby cards for two sweet little bundles of joy! I feel like everyone is having babies lately and they’ve all been girls! I wanted to make two cards tailored specifically for the two most recent babies who I am delivering gifts to, and the Baby Face suite of products is the PERFECT choice! I’ve paired it with a few of the postal themed products that were released earlier this year; every time I stamp the “handle with care” sentiment or look at the “special delivery” sentiment, I think how fun it would be to make a baby card with them, so here we are!

I actually “copied” myself and used the same layout as a pair of lilac cards I made for release day a few months back. Sometimes is nice to not have to reinvent the wheel and just get straight to creating! I was absolutely giddy when I was making those little sweet peas! To begin, I die cut the pieces for the peas using the Baby Face: Sweet Pea Die. I used finger daubers and Distress Oxide inks to color them and added the faces using the Baby Face Sentiments Stamp Set. I chose to use one of the green inks that I used to color the peas to stamp the faces. I wanted them to be more subtle, but you could definitely stamp them in black for more contrast, depending on the style of your card. I also added some colored pencil details to the stems, blossoms, and to give definition to each of the individual peas.

Since I was copying myself, I knew I would want more coverage on the card front, so I also die cut the smaller blooms and leaves from the BotaniCuts: Hibiscus Die to mimic some larger pea blossoms to fill in the arrangement. I really like how they look with the smaller peas for a more dramatic presence! Sometimes it’s fun to mix and match things that you wouldn’t otherwise think of!

Once that was done, I got to work on the postcard base. I used the Airmail Border Stencil in the same pink and green from the peas on a white A2 panel and then added the pierced details using the Postcard Details Pierce Plate. I had so much fun gussying up the rest with the Baby Face Sentiments Stamp Set on the pierced lines….so many fun sentiment options!

I used the Postal Modern stamp/die set for all of the fun “postal” details, including the perfect “handle with care” and “special delivery”! I placed the peas and the additional blossoms and leaves using foam squares for dimension. I added the entire panel to A2 card bases using a tape runner. I usually like to use liquid glue, but it can be tricky with the pierced details…you don’t want it seeping through the tiny holes! Ha ha! I was especially excited to use the postage theme, because I am packaging up the baby gifts in some darling decorative pink/gold polka dot suitcases, rather than a gift bag! I’m so excited to put everything together! My daughter had a decorative suitcase when she was a little girl and it held her barbie clothes and accessories, so I know these new mamas will be able to put the suitcases to good use
in the future!

TGIF – Make a Wish with Angelica

Hello, friends! I am so happy to be joining you today. This month is a busy month for my family. We have FOUR birthdays, including my daughter and mine, to celebrate. We are traveling abroad this month for our birthdays, and I made a birthday card for a friend that we are visiting in Sweden.

I started with the background. I used the Celebration Streamers confetti stencil to add orange confetti to 4.75 x 6.75 inch peach cardstock panel. Next, I made Curly Q Streamers. I die-cut colored cardstock, and glued the streamers together. I also die-cut a few glitter streamers, and glued them to the background. I used thin foam squares to add the top layer of streamers to the panel.

Now let’s move onto Takes The Cake. I die-cut pink cardstock for the cake, and glitter paper for the frosting. I die-cut a Cake Stand from mirror paper, and glued the stand to the card panel. I attached the cake to the top of the stand with thin foam strips. I finished the cake with a Takes The Cake sentiment, stamped onto a die-cut Banner. I also added the Takes the Cake stand as a base for my cake.

This card has a little dimension because of the thin foam squares, but not enough to where it would be difficult to travel with without it being damaged. I’m looking forward to passing this onto my friend.

TGIF – Sew Adorable Gift Tags with Dawn + Save the Date!

TGIF! Before we get to Dawn’s fun project today, just a bit of news! We hope you’ll join us next week for some fun while we release a new collection of products and celebrate our 5th birthday. I can hardly believe it! We hope you’ll join us here on the blog. We’ll start the week on Monday with a few days of sneak peeks, and then we’ll have a couple of blog hops and product showcases before our new Confetti Encore collection hits the shop on Friday 4/26!

Now I’ll hand it over to Dawn so she can tell us all about the cute tags she’s sharing with us today!

For awhile now, I’ve been wanting to use the hoopla dies and such to make a set of little embroidery-inspired all-occasion gift tags.  I finally got around to making them and they turned out so darling!  I stamped the to/from on the back of the larger ones, and the smaller ones I’ll use by adding onto packages more as an embellishment with the bow and I can also just write the to: info on the back.

I used the Rose Tapestry stencils to create the main images for each tag.  I just stenciled one panel and then used the Hoopla Round Inserts and Hoopla Mini Inserts dies to cut the floral panel apart.  Before I die cut it though, I ran it through my die cutting machine with the Aida Cloth Texture Plate, to give it a more realistic touch.

I used some of the dies from Embroidered Blooms to add some various sprigs and leaves to some of the tags and layered up a couple of them, by using the Four Square Tags die and the Four Square Holiday Tags stamp set along with the hoops (Round and Mini).  It was fun to pull together a variety of tags….some more layered and some less….and I can’t wait to use them on some birthday and “just because” gifts this spring and summer!
