Praise God, from whom all blessings flow…a familiar phrase, perfect for celebrating the season of Thanksgiving as well as praise-worthy events all through the year. I loved creating with these new products – I have so many projects today!

I’m not even sure where to start, but let’s dig in with this card using Pitcher-esque, Bittersweet Bouquet, and a background done with the Shiplap Builder die! To stamp the Bittersweet Bouquet, I strayed from traditional bittersweet colors and went for a more muted pallette. I used Victorian Velvet, Hickory Smoke, Aged Mahogany, and Scattered Straw Distress Oxide inks. I recently added Victorian Velvet to my ink collection and it has fast become one of my favorites! I also added some shading to the leaves and berries using colored pencils.

The Pitcher was stamped with Antique Linen and a bit of lightly sponged Frayed Burlap for the third step. When stamping a light colored pitcher like this one here, I actually omitted the first/bottom layer and stamped just steps 2 and 3. That leaves the highlight along the side of the pitcher white, which looks great for the lighter color.

Next let’s talk about that background. I think I might be addicted to creating shiplap backgrounds! These planks started off white, and I sponged them with Frayed Burlap and Weathered Wood oxide inks. I decided to do something a little different by creating a chevron pattern with the planks. Very easy to do, just start somewhere near the center and just keep on building and adding planks until the entire background is filled, then trim off any excess planks hanging off the outer edges. I created a “shelf” for my pitcher using a darker sponged brown plank, and set my pitcher on a Cozy Cup Coaster diecut. The sentiment is also one that’s included in the Pitcher-esque stamp set.

My next project again uses the Bittersweet Bouquet and Pitcher-esque sets, but this time using a much more traditional bittersweet color combo. So vibrant and fall-ish and different from the first card!

This pitcher was stamped with Blueprint Sketch for the first two steps, and Chipped Sapphire for the third step. I also added some splatters to make my pitcher resemble a vintage enamel-ware pitcher. I layered my pitcher and bouquet over a Crimped Frame diecut and added the “hello autumn” sentiment using the sentiments from the Bittersweet Bouquet set.

Let’s talk a little about that background! I used the Square Dance stencils and die to create this fun plaid. I sponged the diecut with shades of yellow, orange, and red using the stencils. I also used the stencils to create the two-tone blue check that’s peeking out from under the diecut. I just off-set the two patterns slightly so that the blue shows just a bit from under the diecut. Such a fun effect! You’ll need to do a bit of creative trimming at the top and bottom of that panel underneath – I just snipped away the pieces that were showing from behind the diecut with my scissors at the top edge, and trimmed the bottom edge even with the diecut using my paper trimmer.

Next up is a non-fall card using the pitcher from Pitcher-esque, because it’s definitely not just for fall! The pitcher will go wonderfully with all of our Budding Beauties sets for creating pretty bouquets. Here I also used the floral cluster that’s included in the Pitcher-esque set for a more vintage look.

There is a die for that little flower cluster embellishment – I diecut it from a scrap of copy paper to use as a mask, and placed it on my pitcher diecut before stamping on it so that the area where I wanted to stamp that little bouquet would remain white. After stamping the pitcher (here again I just used steps 2 & 3 for a lighter color pitcher), I filled in that masked area by stamping the multi-step floral cluster from the set. My pitcher is filled with a mix of things from Budding Beauties Summer, Petite Eucalyptus, and even a berry sprig from the new Bittersweet Bouquet. The sentiment is from the Pitcher-esque set. Everything is layered over a Postal Frames diecut on which I also stamped some text using the Pretty Postmarks set.

My next card uses the individual berry/leaf clusters from the Bittersweet Bouquet set. I diecut and stamped several of them to create a wreath by tucking the stems into a Square Dance background. I once again did some shading on the leaves and berries using colored pencils after I stamped them. Colored pencil shading is definitely my current favorite technique!

The background was made by diecutting the Square Dance die from gray cardstock, and sponging over just step A from the Square Dance stencil set with black ink. Such a quick and easy way to create this fun gingham look! For the sentiment, I started with a plank cut with the Shiplap Builder die. I layered the “autumn” word from the Bittersweet Bouquet over the top. To create the bottom portion for the “blessings” sentiment I diecut the smaller rectangle using my Sentiment Suite: Basics die. I embossed it by running it through my machine again, this time with one of the planks from Shiplap Builder, just to give it that woodgrain texture. I then used some twine to add the “hanger” to the top and also attach the small “blessings” portion.

I loved the way that little “autumn” sign turned out so much that I made another one and used it on this card that turned out to by my favorite project from this release! This time I paired it with the autumn addition to the Top Down Day set.

I pulled out my Top Down Day set and stamped the car image using Speckled Egg distress oxide ink…another recent addition to my ink collection and I LOVE this color! I also sponged the image with a bit of Rusty Hinge ink to give it a rusty look, and also added some splatters of both ink colors. For the pumpkin cluster I used the new Top Down Autumn day addition. I stamped two of them – one for the back of the car and another for the top of my sign. After stamping I again pulled out my colored pencils and added some shading. They almost look watercolored, but they are just stamped and shaded with the pencils! I love adding other shades to the foliage for lots of interest. If you look closely you’ll see I used blue and yellow pencils over the green stamping to create really interesting color variations. The background was done with two shades of ink (Speckled Egg and Frayed Burlap) and the Square Dance stencils, just like I showed in the video above. I added a few more Shiplap Builder planks along the bottom edge of my card to ground the car image.

My last three cards of the day use the new All Blessings Flow set. When designing the products for this release, I couldn’t get this phrase (part of the old and familiar doxology) out of my head, and decided it needed to be turned into a stamp! I chose a pretty script font, then filled the rest of the set with sprigs and leaves in all different shapes and sizes. I’ve been wanting some simple one-step images to stamp, and this seemed like the perfect set for them.

I stamped them in lots of different colors and then…yup, you guessed it…pulled out my colored pencils again to add lots of shading to them. I find coloring this way to be so relaxing! I arranged a whole bunch of those colored sprigs around the diecut/stamped sentiment from the set and layered them over a Nordic Frames diecut. In the background is a Square Dance diecut, cut from kraft cardstock and stenciled with the Square Dance step A stencil to create the gingham look.

My next card uses more of the sprigs from the All Blessings Flow set, done up in all shades of green. Once again they were stamped and then shaded with pencils. I decided to create some rustic looking wood using the Shiplap Builder die to go in the background. I love how that turned out and it was really easy – I hope to have time to put a video together for you soon showing how to get some of these different wood looks!

For this rustic wood look I started by sponging Frayed Burlap and Weathered Wood oxide inks onto white cardstock. Then I brushed over it with some white paint. I added splatters of both the paint and the ink, and once it was dry, I diecut it with the Shiplap Builder die. I staggered 6 planks over a Crimped Frame diecut to create the background, and arranged my sprigs from the All Blessings Flow set over the top. The sentiment is from Pitcher-esque. I used the same faux wood technique to embellish the flap of my envelope.

My last card is an idea I’ve had floating around my head for a while. I wanted to use the Shiplap Builder dies to create a faux wood background, and then stamp images over the top to resemble the look of wood burning.

So I started off by building my background with the Shiplap Builder die. I sponged a few pieces of white cardstock with different inks – Walnut Stain, Frayed Burlap, and Weathered Wood, intentionally mixing the colors in different ways and intensities to create different shades and tones. I diecut these pieces with the Shiplap Builder dies, then mixed them all up so that I had a bunch of planks in a variety of shades and colors. I used them to build my background (just cover your card front with adhesive and line up the planks, trimming off excess from around the edges). Then I arranged the sentiment and sprigs from the All Blessings Flow set into my MISTI and stamped the whole works at once with dark brown ink. This let me decide on an arrangement that I new I liked before I just started stamping onto my background. I love how it turned out and I think it would make a great guy card – could definitely swap out the sentiment and use the same idea for a birthday or even father’s day card!

Lots happening around here, even though it has felt a bit quiet here on the blog! It’s been a busy and exciting time here as we work through some growing pains (but in a good way!)…an additional warehouse space, prepping for our holiday releases, and more!

A few things today…

We just did a major restock in the shop, adding more than 16,000 items!

Most items are now in stock, but we are expecting a few of the stand-alone dies may go quite quickly (namely Fit to Be Tied, Crimped Frame, BotaniCuts Sunflower, Sentiment Suite: Basics). We have orders already in the system for more of those dies, so if you miss out on this batch, hopefully the wait won’t be so long! Unfortunately it’s sort of a snowball effect of the longer manufacturing times we’re encountering.

And for some really exciting news…we’re getting ready for our next release! Next week we’ll be sharing sneak peeks and projects using our latest collection called Gathered Blessings. This collection is chock-full of fall goodness. I can’t wait to share all of the details!
