Layton’s Legacy

Good morning, friends. I’m participating in a special post today, for a dear friend in the industry, Lea Lawson. If you’re not familiar with Lea and her story, you can read more about it here on her blog.

In remembrance of her son Layton Caleb, Lea is raising money to purchase $50 Starbucks gift cards for all 50 beds in the level 4 NICU at the U of M Masonic Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. What a wonderful way to provide a hurting family with a token of care and comfort during a difficult time.

I created a card for Lea’s “Sensitive Sympathy” theme to share with you today. I used my watercolors to create a peaceful pink sunset scene, then stamped the small tree from the Christmas Eve set. I added a single stamped star to the sky, along with some glitter. The sentiment is from the Cotton Comforts set. I also created a matching envelope by sponging some inks to match my watercolored sky over the scalloped stencil from the Flappable stencil set. I’ll be sending this card to Lea for her card drive.

Sticker Giveaway Winner + With Love at Christmas Inspiration

It’s time to announce the two winners of the sticker giveaway! Each release brings some fun new packaging to The Greetery, including a cute sticker that wraps up your goodies. I offered to give away 10 stickers to two random comments that guessed this month’s sticker. Those of you that have gotten your orders probably already know that it’s the adorable bus from Christmas Care-A-Van!

Just a quick update on shipping and out of stock items before I share a project with you. All release orders have shipped and as of yesterday (Thursday) we are back to our usual same day/next day after 2:00pm EDT shipping schedule. woohoo!

As for out of stock items, no worries, everything will be restocked. Dies will be back in a couple of weeks, and any out of stock stamps will be back in about 4 weeks. Many have asked about the clear bubbles. We actually have a bit of stock left, we just need to get a chance to get them packaged up and then we’ll add them to the shop. Hopefully by early next week. This will not be a huge stock of them, but we have more coming.

Now for a quick project. After the busyness of the last few months I got to enjoy an annual day out with some friends yesterday! One of our stops was Bath & Body Works to pick up a few fall scents and check out what’s new for the holidays. I always find their packaging inspiring! Do you ever find yourself out and about and see something that makes you want to go stamp a card? 🙂 I love the new labels on these soaps…

I thought I could totally make a card like that! I pulled out my With Love at Christmas set and started by heat embossing the frame from the set in the center of a panel of cardstock. I then masked it off and stamped some of the individual flowers and greenery sprigs from the set around the frame. I also heat embossed a few of them with gold powder. I finished by stamping a sentiment from the Sentiment Suite: Thank You set inside the frame. I created some matching envelopes using the Flappable stencil set, and this time I sponged the striped stencil with Versamark and heat embossed it with gold powder. That turned out really fun!

All Insta-Inspiration

Insta-Inspiration: Bountiful Wreath by Caly Person + Shipping Update!

We had Christmas galore here on the blog for the last few weeks, but in reality, the air is just starting to get a twinge of that autumn crispness! The summer heat just wants to hang on this year! So today I wanted to share an Insta-Inspiration post with you featuring our Bountiful Wreath set. This amazing project by Caly Person is just gorgeous!

I love how she added shading to the stamped images using colored pencils. It’s one of my favorite techniques of late, and Caly did such an amzing job with it.. I also love how she used the Halfsies: Diamond die along the bottom of the wreath as well. Caly posted this card on Instagram a few weeks back, and I wanted to share it with you here (thanks for letting me share, Caly!)

Occasionally I’ll be sharing projects here that I come across on Instagram. Be sure to tag us with #thegreetery so we can see what you’re up to! If we feature your project in an Insta-Inspiration post you’ll receive a $20 gift certificate to the shop!

Now for a shipping update for the release orders. We are working our tails off picking and packing! With past releases, we’ve been able to get all of the release weekend orders out by Monday, but I’m afraid that was not the case this time. Due to the large number of orders, and also the size of the individual orders, it is taking us quite a bit longer to get through them this time around. We are making good progress, and *hope* to have all Friday orders picked and packed by the end of the day today (Tuesday), although they won’t all make the mail pick-up cut off. We should be able to finish picking and packing the remaining orders on Wednesday. I know the wait is not fun, so we are doing our absolute best to get them out as quickly as possible.

Let’s Make Memories – Release Day is here!

Good morning! We are busy putting the finishing touches on all of the products in the warehouse and all of the details into the shop! In a few hours, all of the new products will go live in the store. (10am EDT today!)

Stock Update

We had a large restock of stamps and dies just last week, so unfortunately any stamps that are currently out of stock will not be restocked for the release. We will get them back in as soon as we can – likely about 4 weeks. We do have a few stand-alone dies that will be restocked this morning. They are:

First let’s talk about Speed Tagging! I put together a video for you that introduces this new product and also shows it in action.

These Speed Tagging tags are just so fun to stamp – you should see the gigantic pile of tags I have! I can’t wait to put them to use on our gifts this year.

They’ll also work for cards, of course, and I’m anxious to play around with these more on future projects. Here is one card that I put together. It uses the Halfsies Diamond die to create the perfect home for that cute hexagon dotty tag.

I embellished around it with a bunch of the bits and pieces from the Speed Tagging Christmas Sentiments set. I also added the small companion sentiment to the small banner from the Sentiment Suite: Basics die set. A bit of Tumbled Glass Oxide ink was sponged in the background to give a little color.

Next I have several projects using the Candy Pops collection, but first an introductory and how-to video…

I had so much fun with these Candy Pops projects – I can’t wait to make more! This first set is classic Christmas. I used the 1/2″ deep bubbles here with the tear-away rectangle backing, and filled them with some chocolate mint candies. So quick and easy. I added a little glitter to the wrapper details as well as the holly.

My next project is a little more elegant looking. I filled the 1/2″ deep rectangle bubbles with Hershey Nuggets. Three nuggets fit perfectly inside. I did a mix of both silver and gold nuggets, and added metallic details to the design. I heat embossed the sentiments with metallic embossing powder. The wrapper details were cut from metallic cardstock, as were the berries. Very quick project to put together – can you imagine a whole basket of these? How fun would that be!

My next project was done with a little girl in mind. My girls love these cute flavored lip balms, and what a fun way to package them up! I used two of the 1/4″ deep rectangle bubbles here back to back. Instead of using the Tear Away Rectangle to create a backer, I just added the bubbles to the diecuts and tied them together with twine back-to-back. The recipient can just untie the twine to get the treats out of the packaging.

I had a whole lot of glittery fun with my next project! This time I changed it up a bit and trimmed one end of the wrapper off to create more of a lollipop look. I used paper straws for the stick portion, and embellished them using the swirl (circle) and diagonal stripe (rectangle) details that come nested inside the main Candy Pops dies. These basics are great for so many occasions – birthdays, halloween, and more. I sponged that swirl with a rainbow of inks, and glittered it up. The sentiment was stamped using the Candy Pops Sentiments stamp set onto a Sentiment Suite: Basics diecut banner.

We’re kicking things off today with a couple of videos. This first video showcases the Flappable stencil set.

This next video showcases the With Love at Christmas set, and also shows how to create a tri-fold card that I’ll be sharing below!

I’m excited to share my projects with you using these new products! First up is the set of tri-fold cards I show in the video. These were so fun to put together. I used the same steps shown in the video, except I stamped multiples instead of just a single card like I show in the video. I stamped each step of the bouquet onto each white card base before changing out the stamp in my MISTI for the next step. They came together really quickly that way. I went to town with all of the different accessories from the set, along with the Addressed die set to create an entire coordinating ensemble. The labels for the envelopes were stamped and diecut using full-sheet adhesive label paper. This would be the perfect thing to wrap up for gift giving! I always give a bundle of handmade cards to my grandma, so I think these will be going to her. I think she’ll love them!

This next card set using the bouquet and the die that cuts just the top edge of the bouquet to create a gift card holder. Like I mentioned in the video, the die does not cut edge-to-edge on an A2 card allowing you to create a pocket. I just added adhesive around the edges when adhering the diecut panel to a card base, which created a nice pocket to tuck the gift card. Here I also used the Flappable stencil set to stencil the striped border along the bottom edge. I used the pretty label dies from the Addressed set – the larger one on the envelope, and the smaller one on the card front. The sentiment on the card front is from the Christmas Care-A-Van set, and the sentiment on the envelope label is from a set you’ll see more of tomorrow!

My next card uses all of the individual floral bits and pieces from the set, rather than the big multi-step bouquet. I diecut a whole pile of them and stamped them up in all kinds of colors. That is one of my favorite things to do! Here I started with a panel of watercolor paper and stamped some of the flowers directly onto the watercolor paper. I wet the paper and added some loose color, and also allowed the water to make the ink of the stamping run just a bit. Over that I layered a few of my stamped diecuts. Of course I had to finish it off with a matching envelope!

My next set of cards was more of me playing around with my pile of stamped diecuts. I realized that the Flappable stencils are fun to use with the Halfsies Diamond die. I stenciled the plaid on the top portion of my card base, then flipped it around and stenciled the bottom half. I then layered the Halfsies Diamond diecuts over the top and used the double ended banner die from the Sentiment Suite: Basics die set to cover the seam where the two plaid patterns meet. This card was so fun that I created it in two different color combos!

I really wanted to pull out the Bottled Up set again from last month and stamp some jars in pretty holiday green, so that’s what I did for this next card set! I once again used the individual bits and pieces from the With Love at Christmas set to build bouquets in the bottles. I stencils some glittery twigs in the background using the Mason Jar Fillers stencils. I just masked off part of the stencil to make the bunch of twigs narrower so it would fit in the jar.
