Good morning and happy 4th! I hope you have fun things on your agenda today! Just a reminder that since it is a holiday, we will not be shipping orders today and customer service is closed. We’ll be back on Monday!
I’m popping in to share a couple of fun cards with you to celebrate the 4th! I’ve had this idea rolling around in my head for a while and finally got a chance to carve out some time to create and play last evening. I was thinking it would be so much fun to combine the Wave the Flag Border and Stars & Stripes Bow dies with our Print Shop: Calico set. I saw the cutest sweatshirt the other day when I was out shopping with my daughter. It had a simple flag stitched out of strips of cute calico print fabrics. I have been itching to create some sort of paper version ever since!

To start, I pulled out the Print Shop: Calico rubber stamp and stencil, along with some linen textured cardstock. I knew stamping onto the linen paper was going to give my calico prints the perfect worn and weathered look I was going for. I started by stamping/stenciling panels of calico…all with shades of red, pink, blue, and white, making sure I had some that were more obviously red, blue and white to use to create the flag stripes and star portions. I used Distress Oxide Inks – Blueprint Sketch, Prize Ribbon, Tattered Rose, Festive Berries, and Tumbled Glass.

I created a total of 5 panels, and this was enough to cut all of the pieces for my Wave the Flag Border and Stars & Stripes Bow. I also pulled out my Rustic Star die to cut a few star shapes from the left over scraps to scatter in my background. After assembling the Wave the Flag Border, I also did something I haven’t done in a long, long time – I pulled out my sewing machine and adding some stitching. It really makes it look like fabric!

To assemble the cards, I pulled out my A2 Stitched Scallops die and diecut some panels to layer with my flag and bow, then topped it all off with a couple of sentiments from the Land of Liberty stamp set, cut with the matching die.

That’s all I have for you today – thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a wonderfully fun and safe holiday weekend!

You are amazingly creative!!! I love this so much more than any solid colored card stock. In fact, I am more likely to create a patriotic card than not and regret not getting this set!
You are amazing with designing these cards. Love them all!! I have the star spangled set and I have loved playing around with it. But now I have more ideas. I love to carry cards with to give to those who serve and have served. This is one set that I am so glad I got the entire set
Thank you so much.
Happy Independence Day everyone at The Greetery!!! Betsy, your cards are STUNNING! I LOVE this! You’ve really taken this set up a notch with what you’ve done! It is a MUST TRY! I think I’ll be giving this one a whirl! ;)JUST STUNNING!

They are spectacular cards.
Betsy, Thanks for these amazing, wonderful cards!
What a beautiful card! I love the worn look of the calico, perfect for old glory! Long may she wave.
How cute are these?!? I love ’em!!
Boy that linen cardstock really makes it look like fabric. Love the stitching detail. These are beautiful cards and thanks for the inspiration!

Love these! So soft and vintage and unexpected!
Love the pretty Red, White and Blue patterned papers on your beautiful patriotic cards, Betsy!
Wow! Now that sure is a glorious 4th of July card I’ve ever seen! I just love the calico set (my mom made doll clothes for my doll Baby First Step out of calico material….so PRECIOUS). I’ll have to get my Singer sewing machine out! What an inspiration you and your team are! I sure do appreciate the little details you add (color inks to use). Our town was hit with a bad storm…and we were without power 4th of July until Mon. 7th, 7:40PM… however, I enjoyed some folk’s fireworks right from my bedroom window, piercing among the trees 🙂
Carolyn, I hope everything is better with you and your community. I’ve gone through many storms without electricity, so I hope you really enjoyed the “ lights” in the sky! 😊
Happy belated 4th! 🇺🇸🧨 I hope you had a great 3 day weekend. Betsy, your cards are Amazing! Thank you for sharing your process, I always learn something new! God bless America!
