Angelica is joining us today with a beautiful project to get you in the mood for fall! I for one can’t wait! It’s my favorite season.
Speaking of fall, we have some fun new products coming to the shop soon! We’ll begin sharing peeks of our new Harvest Fest collection in just a few days, and it will hit the shop on Wednesday, August 30. I’m excited to share all of the details of this collection with you, so I hope you’ll join us next week!
Can you believe we are coming to the end of summer? We have had such a lovely summer here in WA state, and my daughter and I enjoyed every second of it. But now it’s time to buy school supplies and clothes, and we’re close to being back to 8pm bedtime. Since Autumn is right around the corner, I thought it would be fun to make a card for the season.
I die-cut Bristol Smooth paper with the Jumbo Curiosity Buckeye Leaf die. I pulled out a craft mat, a few Distress Oxide inks, and a water spray bottle, and started inking the die-cut leaves. I pushed the ink pads onto my craft mat, sprayed the ink with water, and then smooshed the leaves into the ink. I used a variety of yellow, red, and brown inks, drying the leaves in between each layer. I love ink-smooshing, but I have a bad habit of not knowing when to quit. Even though I could still see some white paper, I decided to stop before I put too much ink on them, and set the leaves under my MISTI overnight so they would flatten out.
For the background, I picked a really soft cream cardstock to work with. This paper was retired years ago, so I use it sparingly, but thought it would be perfect for the background. I decided to stick with the ink-smooshing theme, and wiped Antique Linen Distress Oxide ink onto my craft mat, and sprayed it with water. I smooshed the whole panel onto the ink, let it set for a couple seconds, then dried it with my heat tool. I picked Tea Dye Oxide ink to use for a second layer, this time not using as much ink. Once the panel was dried, I stamped a sentiment from the Fall Foliage stamp set, using black ink, and glued a few leaves to the panel. I trimmed the edges, and attached the panel to a card base to finish the card.
I’m not quite ready to say goodbye to our beautiful green leaves outside, so I will just enjoy how pretty these paper leaves turned out for now. Enjoy the last of your summer, friends!

Beautiful Card, Angelica!!! I love Fall too!
Beautiful! Nice design, would be great for so many occasions.
What a lovely card! Thx for the details, I love it & now want to see if I can do this!
Beautiful! And (I don’t know about you, but where I am, some of the leaves are already changing, and the deer that come around, are changing color too!) I love ink-smooshing too! It was the perfect technique to use, Angelica! 😉
Love it all especially font on sentiment.
A great way to dip into Autumn! And I have all the supplies to try this! I live in Washington, too, Angelica. On the dry side – and now very smokey – of the state.
Very pretty card! Fall is my favorite time, also, but sad to have summer come to an end, it was too short here.
Great color and card!
I love the Fall theme! Can’t wait for the new products! Angelica, your card is lovely and got me giddy for all things Autumn. Now I just need to find some time to play today!
“LOVE THE SWOOSHING EFFECT AND THE LARGE LEAF STAMP.”
This is so beautiful! I forget about ink smooshing – thank you for the reminder.
Beautiful. Love the blending.
Gorgeous! Wish it would cool off!
Beautiful! And I love the white spots you left on the leaves…antiques the design more!
This is the perfect card for fall! I enjoy summer, but the fall colors steal my heart!!
Gorgeous, love this! Thanks for sharing ❤️
Very nice!!!
Autumn is definitely in the air here in Western WA, Angelica. Shorter days, cooler nights and leaves changing colors. Gorgeous card and love the effects from ink smooshing! Fall is my favorite season, too, so looking forward to Harvest Fest.
STUNNING technique!!!
I’m with you Angelica. I used to live in New York up near the Canadian border and those fall leaves and the cooler weather are the BEST!. Thanks for sharing your technique. It’s on my calendar for Sept.1.
This is a beautiful card, Angelica! Thanks so much for explaining how you created it. I would love to try this. Happy Fall, soon!
Truly lovely, Angelica! You have inspired me to use the ink smooshing technique again. Just last night, I was looking through my two large Greetery bins and thinking about using the Buckeye die again. Betsy, the new Harvest Fest collection is sure to delight us all!💗
Angelica this is so gorgeous. I love using the sprays. The colors are really looking just right! Can you believe how quickly the summer has gone by…I have been picking acorn squash already and our weather is still quite warm. TFS and hope you are all ready for school to start !
Beautiful fall colors. Love it.
Gorgeous, it has me excited for fall 🙂
Wow, what a process you did to achieve beautiful results! We’re still feeling hot temps in Florida (not uncommon for August or September). Even though we don’t have a “Fall” here, I love artwork done with beautiful fall colors, like yours. TFS !!
Just beautiful! The bits of white makes it look realistic. Fall my favorite season!
