The team is definitely a fan of our new Takes the Cake product suite! Laurie is here today showing a fun way of using the pretty floral panel from the Takes the Cake set – sans cake. 🙂 I also always love Laurie’s little tips she shares…makes me want to go create!
Hello crafty friends! It’s Laurie here with another quick and simple card showcasing one of my new favorites…Take The Cake! I love, LOVE this stenciled and stamped image 1. Because it’s gorgeous. 2. It’s SO easy to blend up this amazing bloom and 3. It works for something other than a cake! It makes the most perfect little focal point for your cards!
Today’s card uses these awesome Greetery supplies:
Take the Cake Stamp and Stencil Set
Take the Cake Floral Detail Die
Today’s card was so easy to make! The fun little Takes the Cake floral piece is extra fun because it is the same one I made while on The Greetery’s Instagram live for the release. I knew this little creation needed to be made into a card! Using the details die, I cut it out and then added foam squares. I popped it up onto the Crimped Square die from the Crimped Note Card Die set.
I needed a little more dimension so I popped that focal point up on fun foam right on to the yellow card base. To finish off the card, I stamped the sentiment from the New Day Sentiment Set. The end result is the perfect clean and simple look!
Tips for adding in more detail:
You know I love a clean and simple card but for those of you who love to add in more details, you could absolutely put the floral piece onto a stamped background, maybe the new Sparkler Background or Spring Meadow Background. You could also add in some ombre ink blending on the card base to give some color variation. And, of course, pearls or liquid enamel dots would look awesome for the flower centers. Lots of possibilities to add in more details!
Hope you enjoyed today’s card! Many of you were with me when I started it on instagram, so I am happy to share the final look! Hope you all have a great day!

I LOVE this, Laurie! Clean and simple takes the cake!
The cake florals are perfect for new day sentiments! I did watch you stencil and I have 12 pretty florals ready to go! Also die cut and stamped several sets of the new day sentiments on a retreat, so will follow your lead for a few clean and simple notes! Thanks for your inspiration Laurie!

I concur! You’ve created a stunning card and I always love the clean and fresh look you achieve. I really love seeing creative ways to use the cake panel (other than a cake). I didn’t “really” need a cake set. But now I’m thinking I need a floral panel. Thanks for sharing (and I really enjoyed your instagram live session with the stamping time at the beginning.
