Let’s get to the projects! First up I have a trio of cards using the new Jumbo Curiosity die and stencil combos paired with that pretty Leaves All Around frame. I had so much fun inking up these pretty insects and frames! If you saw the sneak peek image, you’ll see I created a whole rainbow of them. Now it’s time to put them to use on some cards.
The stencils make it easy to add lots of color and shading. When I was finished stenciling I also used black and white pens to add lots of dots and details to make them even more interesting. Really easy to do – for the most part I just followed the details built into the dies with the detail cuts and pierce-points.
I used various shades of greens, and even a little blue, to stencil the Leaves All Around design onto the coordinating die. I embellished the frames with some BotaniCuts Hollyhocks blooms. I love this set for the versatility…you can omit the stem and use just the blooms for a completely different look. I used one bloom at the top and a cluster of two at the bottom, done in the same colors as the insect inside each frame. I was loving the simplicity of these, and opted not to add sentiments. That way I can use them for any occasion. They would make a gorgeous gift as well if you created a boxed set using our Stationery Box die!
I just love the dragonfly in jumbo form! I used my favorite Blueprint Sketch ink to stencil some color onto the wings. He’s hovering in a garden of Honeysuckle Stems, which are from the set we introduced yesterday. I finished it off with a happy birthday sentiment, which is from our Print Shop: Spring Mix set.
For my next card, I was completely inspired by this gorgeous Pottery Barn bedding. I recreated a similar look using lots of different elements, including our new Jumbo Curiosity Butterfly and BotaniCuts Hollyhocks. Here’s a test as to how big of a Greetery fan you are…can you identify all of the other elements? I’ll name them below this photo!
There are Ginkgo leaves, a Crocus petal, a stem of Bluebells, some Strawberry flowers and berries, and some tiny Wildflower Mix blooms. Did you get them all? The sentiment is from our Signed & Sealed set. All of those bright-colored elements on the black background just pop!
Up next might be my favorite card of the release! I stacked up a whole garden of BotaniCuts Hollyhocks onto a Crimped Slimline diecut. Before adhering them to my panel, I sponged a bit of Tumbled Glass ink for some blue sky.
I also added a couple of butterflies…I used the new Jumbo Curiosity Butterfly as well as the original smaller version from our Curio: Summer Findings set. Using them together works wonderfully so you have a variety of sizes. The sentiment here is again from our Print Shop: Spring Mix set.
Up next I have a pair of cards that uses the new Leaves All Around frame in a little different way…I love how you can easily change it up! For this pair of cards I snipped the frame in half and used half on each of these two cards.
I adhered each of the half-frames to a piece of cardstock that was trimmed by hand before adhering to give the cardstock panel that pretty leafy edge. I used a pencil to lightly trace the outline of the leaves, then trimmed it with a scissors before adhering the leafy half-frame (it doesn’t need to be exact at all, as the leaves cover up the edge). This let me create that pretty edge with a contrasting cardstock panel layered underneath. I used the Jumbo Curiosity Moth and Butterfly, and the sentiment is from the Sentiment Suite: Thank You set.
Lastly, I have a fun window card using the BotaniCuts Hollyhocks set. I used my Deco Frames dies to cut a frame, and also a window from my card base. I sandwiched a panel of acetate between the frame and the card base, giving me a clear surface to which I adhered my hollyhock stems.
I sponged some blue ink on the inside of the card, and also stamped a happy birthday sentiment from the Print Shop: Spring Mix set. I also added the smallest bee from the new Honey Bees set to the front of my card. I was in need of some birthday cards, and my stash is feeling a little better after today’s projects!
I hope you enjoyed taking a look at today’s projects as much as I enjoyed creating them!
