Hiya! I hope you had a fabulous week! It’s been a hot one, summer is definitely here! Since I’m not a lover of the heat, that means time to turn on the AC and curl up in the craft room.
I have lots to share with you today including a couple of cards and a super early sneak peek of some new goodies coming to the shop! (shhhhh!)
Speaking of new goodies, mark your calendars! We have a new collection coming to the shop on Wednesday, June 29 called Sweet & Sunny and those two words pretty much sum it up. I’m excited!
We’ll share some official sneak peeks beginning a week from today, but I’m breaking the rules and sharing a super sneaky peek today! I really didn’t intend to when I started working on my projects for today’s TGIF, but they were just lying there on my desk and turned out to be the perfect thing for my projects. I couldn’t resist. I figure when you’re the boss you can get away with it, right? And I didn’t think you’d mind. 😉
For today’s projects, I started out with an idea to create some “dark mode” Print Shop cards. You’ve probably noticed my slight obsession with dark backgrounds lately – well, the obsession continues. I pulled out the latest additions to our Print Shop line-up – Garden Goodness and Daisy Days. I challenged myself to use a slightly different-to-me color combo (no pink allowed!) and wanted to try to create the feeling of a glowing garden.
For the Daisy Days card, I started out with the black panel from our matching Fill in the Blank papers. I stenciled the Daisy Days design using Oxide Inks in shades of blue, yellow, and green. I used Tumbled Glass, Blueprint Sketch, Chipped Sapphire, Mowed Lawn, and Mustard Seed. I left the daisies white so my design would have some lightness to it, and stamped the daisy petal details using Tumbled Glass. The focal point is a pretty butterfly, which is one of my sneaky sneak peeks of what’s coming to the shop as part of our latest collection, and I’ll share more details about that soon!
For my second card I used the Print Shop: Garden Goodness stamps and stencils. I created the design on white cardstock, then used the matching die to cut an overlay from black cardstock. The dragonfly is another sneak peek (although it might look a little familiar *wink*). I used the same ink colors for my Garden Goodness panel that I listed above for the Daisy Days version.
The sentiments on both cards were stamped using the Curio: Labels set, stamped onto diecut labels from the Curio: Divider & Details die. For both of my cards I added some additional colored pencil shading to my stenciling/stamping as well as some white pen details to really make things pop on the black!
Thanks so much for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed my “dark mode” projects and they’ve inspired you to keep cool and keep crafting this weekend!

Beautiful cards Betsy! As always!
Loving the sneaky peak butterfly and dragonfly! Can’t wait to see the rest!
Soooo gorgeous! You sold me on dark backgrounds with this set at the release, and these are even more spectacular with the awesome sneaky peeks!
Are these die cut and glued onto the black paper?
Hi Cheri! The Daisy card uses our Fill in the Blank papers linked in the post, so it’s a single layer card, no diecutting (except the butterfly). For the dragonfly version, I diecut the Garden Goodness die from black cardstock and used the “negative” to overlay my stenciled design, so it’s just one piece. You might find this video helpful that shows this towards the end… https://youtu.be/h_yHbD-tJyY
Great cards Betsy!!! It’s such a clever idea to cut your background from a dark cardstock! I must try that!!! I’m all about butterflies so I’m really looking forward to the next release!
Beautiful cards, and they really do glow! Looking forward to more reveals!
SMILING HERE!!! 😉 LOVING the NEW LARGER SIZES for the Butterfly & Dragonfly, Betsy! 😉 I’ve been seeing butterflies EVERYWHERE out there & I DO LOVE the larger sizes! NOT TO MENTION the dark background for your latest collections! The flowers ARE GLOWING! 😉 Yes, a NICE BRIGHT SPOT on a HOT DAY! (We’ve been cooking too! LOL But, I like the heat better than the cold!) 😉
Stunning cards!!! Those colors just pop right out using the black backgrounds!
Beautiful! And thanks for the “early” sneak peek!
Just amazing, Betsy!! I’m so happy that new summer goodies are coming soon! I have a special wish for the boss.💕 It would be so lovely to have a little bee (like the fireflies) and a pretty bee skep! I am having great fun with the Garden Variety collection!!💗

LOVE THESE! I’m having so much fun playing with these print shop sets. And I can’t wait for the new release! Your dragonfly and butterfly from the curio set are my favorite so I’m excited for the bigger versions.
I think you captured the “glowing garden” look fabulously! The dragonfly card is definitely one I would love to copy!
Beautiful cards!
Who else feels like Betsy just turned on a black light and let her cards glow and shine? As a teen I was enthralled by black lights and especially wanted to wear white and neon colors. A blast from the past and I’m all in on this one!
Simply beautiful Betsy! I would never have thought of cutting an overlay from the black cardstock…what a great idea. I love the black backgrounds and how the flowers really do pop. Plus excited to get the larger versions of the butterfly and dragonfly. Love the sneak peak!

I so enjoy your dark backgrounds. The tumbled glass distress ink is so perfect with the dark. I am looking forward to the 29th, even if I haven’t used everything I got last time yet…. you have my interest peaked!!!

Your “glowing garden” cards are BRILLIANT. Really gorgeous. Thanks for sharing and – you’re right – we don’t mind.
Did you realize that your link to “fill in the blanks paper” goes to “404 Page Not Found”? Just letting you know in case you can fix.
Have a WONDERFUL weekend.
