Thank you so much for joining us for the fun this week for the launch of our newest collection! Now let’s wrap up the week with a gorgeous project from Heather!
I really enjoyed creating with the new from the Leaf & Blade Autumn Collection that I kept going for the project I am sharing today and paired some of the new products with a fewer older ones. Autumn is one of my favorite seasons and I love the rich colors associated with the season. I incorporated darker tones in my project and played with adding color to darker colors of cardstock. After creating all of the different elements, I put everything together to create Thanksgiving tags for my family that I plan on using on our table settings.
For the tag bases, I used a dark green cardstock and stenciled the Berry Branch stencil onto it first with a layer of white ink and then color on top of that. Adding a white ink layer first gives a place for the dye inks to sit on and brightens them up as opposed to stamping directly on the cardstock and the ink soaking and blending right in. You can use this technique with stenciling and also for stamping like I did for the leaves from the new Fall Foliage stamp set. I stamped the images with white ink on kraft cardstock and then stamped the images again in color over the top.
I bundled the different leaves with wheat stalks created with the BotaniCuts Wheat die collection and layered them onto the tags next to the names. The letters to make the names are cut out using the Slim Alphabet dies cut out from gold foil cardstock. The gold color goes beautifully with the fall color palette that I used on the rest of the tag and adds to the rich look. A bit of twine added to the end of the tag will be perfect to tie the tags onto a napkin or other table decor that I decide to use for our Thanksgiving dinner. Tags like these would be wonderful to add to a gift for a loved one or dinner host/hostess.
