Curio Autumn Findings die

Our collection of curiosities is growing! This die includes all sorts of natural elements you might find on an autumn nature walk…seeds, leaves, nuts, and more. All of these pretty dieucts fit inside the spaces of our Curio: Divider & Details die, and coordinate with the other elements from our Curio line. They work wonderfully on their own as well!
Projects – let’s get to them! I loved creating with all of these goodies!
My first set of projects uses the new Rustic Wreath products. I had fun playing around with stamping or building the wreaths from diecuts. So may options…whether you want a quick project or you want to take the time to pour on the details! I created this set of wreath-shaped cards three ways – a stamped only version, a diecut only version, and a combo where I stamped the wreath, but then embellished with just a few diecuts.
I put together a video showing how I put these wreath-shaped cards together. I’ll show how easy it is to stamp the wreath, as well as how to build the wreath using the Twigs die. In this video I’m building the wreaths onto the shaped card bases, but the same concepts apply if you’re just creating the wreaths on a plain/single layer diecut – you’ll just ignore the part about creating the shaped bases and just start with a regular single-layer diecut. 🙂
The bits and pieces I added to the more embellished wreaths were all done with items from our new release – bits and pieces from the Curio: Autumn Findings die, as well as some of the individual leaves from the Layered Leaves set we introduced yesterday. The sentiment used on all of these is from the Rustic Wreath set.
My next card is one of my favorites from today. Here I again used the Rustic Wreath Base and Twigs die to build a pretty wreath in shades of white. I tucked in some thistle stems, cut with the new Curio: Autumn die, and also tucked in a few foiled leaves using the new Fall Foliage hot foil plates and matching dies.
Inside the wreath, I foiled the Let’s Have a Word: Autumn hot foil plate using a pewter foil, onto a Deco Frames diecut.
Next I pulled out the Curio products we released earlier this summer, and set to work creating this pretty assortment of autumn goodies! All of the Curio: Autumn Findings elements fit inside the Curio: Divider & Details die.
To create some interest in the background, I stamped several of the leaves from the new Fall Foliage set using a very soft pink – Tattered Rose. It’s just enough to make it interesting without taking away from the more vibrant diecut elements designed to be the focal point. All of the elements were diecut from white cardstock and sponged with Oxide inks and shaded with colored pencils. I also tucked in a few foiled Fall Foliage leaves for a bit of shine. My favorite part? It just might be those tiny maple seeds…they’re so realistic!
Speaking of the Curio: Autumn Findings die – its use can definitely go beyond pairing with our other Curio items. It’s wonderful on its own as well! For this card, I started with a Crimped Slimline base and had so much fun inking up the large 5-point leaf from the set in all sorts of colors. I sponged and splattered them for lots of texture, and also added some shading with colored pencils.
I arranged them in a cascade down the front of my slimline card, and also tucked in a few berries and seeds from the Curio Autumn set. The Crimped Slimline background was cut from textured watercolor paper and stamped with some Fall Foliage images before adding the diecuts, to create a subtle, yet interesting background. I found a wonderful ink color for this technique is Weathered Wood Oxide. It’s a soft, blue-gray that makes beautiful shadows! I finished it off with a few diecut twigs using the new Rustic Wreath Twigs die, and a sentiment cut with the Let’s Have a Word: Autumn die combined with a sentiment stamp from the Fall Foliage set.
My last few projects really make use of the new Fall Foliage items…the hot foil, stamps, and matching dies. They are so great for mixing and matching! First up is a set of notecards. These were super quick and easy! I started with the Deco Notecard die for my notecard base.
I foiled the Fall Foliage hot foil with an assortment of different metallic foils. For each notecard, I stamped the same foliage image that would be the focal point of that card onto the notecard base using beige ink. Then I layered a notched square diecut over the top, cut with the Deco Notecard die, and attached the corresponding foiled image to each using foam tape. I stamped the “thanks” sentiment from the Rustic Wreath set along the bottom, and added some gold ink splatters. Quick and fun and so elegant! I need to pull out my Stationery Box die to create a matching box!
For my next card I was envisioning one of those glorious autumn days where the sky is blue and the golden leaves are glowing in the sunshine…those are my favorite days! To create this look, I started with a panel of white cardsock, sponged with some Tumbled Glass ink to create a backdrop for my golden leaves.
The leaves were done with a combination of the new BotaniCuts Ginkgo and the new Fall Foliage Hot Foil, foiled in shimmering gold foil. I topped it off with an “autumn” sentiment, foiled with gold onto vellum and cut with the outline die from the foil set.
And last but not least, a card with a bit of a different feel than the others today. I pulled out some brighter colors for this one and filled up my background with the leafy images from the Fall Foliage stamp set.
I wanted to play around more with the shadow idea I used on the slimline card earlier in this post. I started with a panel of watercolor paper and stamped the leaf images directly onto thee watercolor paper using Weathered Wood Oxide ink. Then I layered the same diecut leaves over the top, but stamped in bright ink color, and attached with foam tape for lots of dimension. I off-set the diecuts a bit so the “shadow” stamped underneath would show. This was fun and easy to do! I topped it off with a Written in Ribbons sentiment – actually two of them layered to give the sentiment a little more definition and echo my “shadow” theme of the rest of the card.
That wraps up my projects today, but we have more in store for you!
Now that you’ve gotten to meet all of today’s new products and see them in action, you can “greet” them for a chance to win a prize! We’ll be giving away TWO $50 gift cards for today’s blog hop.
