Heather is here for this week’s TGIF with a gorgeous autumn card. I love how she created her textured tone-on-tone background with diecuts! She used the BotaniCuts Mighty Oak die, which was just perfect for this technique. We are actually expecting our restock order of this die to land here today, so keep an eye out for that if you’ve been waiting for to come back in stock! 😊
Here’s Heather with more on her project…
I look forward to the autumn season and everything that comes with that every year. I am ready for cooler temperatures and watching the leaves change color. I look forward to visits to the apple orchard and picking out pumpkins to sit on our front porch. The BotaniCuts Mighty Oak die collection is perfect for bringing autumn into my craft studio and I love all of the textures and detail in the leaves and acorns.

The first time I created with this die collection, I cut out the pieces from watercolor paper that I had painted in various autumnal colors. This time, I took a cue from all of the details in the die cuts and cut out the leaves, veins, and acorns from one color of cardstock. I used Kraft cardstock for my project, but you could recreate this with your favorite autumn colors or even just use white cardstock.
I arranged the leaves and acorns onto a piece of Kraft cardstock to create a textural, tone on tone background. The “blessings” sentiment is from the Blessed Blooms stamp set and cut to with the coordinating die. I tucked a few colorful oak leaves and an acorn under the sentiment that I had left over from a past project. This card would be beautiful for a Thanksgiving dinner invitation or just to send a bit of autumn in the mail to a loved one.
Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a wonderful weekend!

LOVE the tone on tone background! So gorgeous!
This card is stunning! I might even give this a try.
Great card. I love it and will try this.
Really like your card
Stunning!
Adore all that texture!! And kraft too!
This card is a beauty. Would you recommend not cutting the dies apart to make it quicker and easier to cut?
Can
I tend to leave dies with lots of pieces wired together. If you’ve snipped them apart already, here’s a tip – arrange them on your paper and then put some strips of washi or painter’s tape across the backside to hold them all together in place. That way you’ll be able to pick them all up together and make cutting multiples much quicker because you won’t be handling individual dies and arranging them on your paper each time you run them through. 😊
Awesomely beautiful background. I actually woke up this morning thinking about making a card with this set, so this is
just great inspiration! Thank you!
I love this! It will be much quicker than coloring all the leaves!
Stunning card, Heather!! You are SO creative….and inspiring. Love the idea of adding texture by putting die cut on a base of the same color.
I love your design Heather with it’s beautiful tone on tone. The dies have so many nice details built in and are beautiful in any color. Hope you have a great weekend!
Love the tone on tone. What a beautiful card!
LOVE this tone on tone! It’s a beautiful, striking card. I’ll definitely be CASE-ing this. Thank you for the inspiration!
I’d love to see a Pinterest icon to make pinning this beauty easier.
Thanks!
Tonia – the first image is not a pin-able format, but the other two are. 😊
Beautiful! Love the tone on tone.
Ohhhhh Heather this is STUNNING! I really love this idea. My creativity is already running wild with ideas for all kinds of sets I can do this tone on tone technique with. I’ve seen it before but not as a background with die cuts – brilliant!
I’m a sucker for fall pieces, this one is a MUST!
Heather, this is an awesome idea! It looks fantastic! I got to try this! Thanks for the inspiration.
Wow! At first glance I thought you used a really cool embossing folder. Very pretty!
I don’t do enough with kraft… I love this look. I think it would make a beautiful birthday card for someone with a fall birthday. Lovely job Heather and thanks for sharing.
Even though Fall colors make my favorite cards, I LOVE this tone on tone card! I am inspired! Thank You

This card really caught my eye right away. I think its fabulous. Definitely something I want to try.
Great card!
I am lazy…I would want that background to be an embossing folder 🙂
This is a beautiful card
Our Queen of Kraft is at it again with this tone-on-tone fabulous Fall card. Love the idea of water coloring paper first and then die cut because leaves can really be multiple shades. Thanks for the great design, Heather! That Betsy seems to know just what we need to make us happy. 😊
Great card! I love the tone on tone background.
