It’s time for a Make & Tell Tuesday video!
Today I’ll be filling up our Just Mason Around jar with a bouquet of BotaniCuts Roses. I’ll show you how easy these are to color using just some ink blending.

The key to creating flowers with lots of interest is mixing the shades and values from layer to layer. Make your leaves and greenery more interesting by using lots of different colors – I blended several different shades of green, and even some blues and yellows. We’ll finish off the design with an easy watercolor background over some embossed script from Pretty Postmarks.
Here’s the video – I hope you enjoy!

Great video Betsy. Cheers.
Beautiful!
Love the video, Betsy. I made a few cards with watercolored roses, which were beautiful. The sponge daubers do look quicker & easier though, & I’m going to try. Thanks for sharing your wonderful talent!
I just need to say….I’ve never water colored anything, ever…until I bought your ‘Love Letters’ release and found myself painting ‘Sketchbook Roses’ using gold embossing and a small water color set! Thank you so much Betsy, I love, love, love the new goodies in the latest release and my Valentine’s this year are way more special than they would have been!
I love watching your videos as you make everything come to life. Such detail can be achieved with minimal products and this turns projects into memorable ” masterpieces” in my opinion. Well done, Betsy!
Love this video! I’ve made my first couple of flowers all white and they’re gorgeous but I’m anxious to try to add color to the next ones so your video is very helpful. You make it look so easy so I need to go shopping for some finger daubers and some more oxide dye inks and try this out 🙂 Thank you for all your lovely products and your helpful tips!
The video is so helpful. Love watching you work. What a great release.
I enjoy seeing how you use different colors to get the effect and color you want. I do have a question…do you “prime” your ink sponges with re-inkers…or are you pads so moist that the sponges absorb a lot of ink. I notice they are quite dark with ink. I’ve just gotten some sponges but find they don’t have nearly as much ink from my pads as your are. Thanks.
My sponges are well-loved! I think they work better after they’re “broken in” and are pretty saturated with ink. My pads are very moist though too – some more than others, but I find the Oxide pads to be pretty juicy.
So lovely, Betsy. I love your video tutorials. I always learn something. I am enjoying my goodies from the latest release. My craft table is covered in beautiful roses!!
Thank you so much for providing us with amazing eye candy and inspiration!
Thank you Betsy for the tutorial. Back to work on my roses I go.
SO BEAUTIFULLY DONE, BETSY…YOUR CARD AND YOUR VIDEO!
Thank you, Betsy, for showing us how to make all of these wonderful stamps come to life!
Betsy, another beautiful video. You make everything look SO easy.
I do have a question though … do you somehow clean ink from the Cricut mat pieces somehow? I am definitely going to try that for keeping dies in place and use some in my Misti as well.
Thank you for all you share with us and answering questions
Yes – just spritz it with water and wipe it off or rinse it in the sink and let it air dry. Getting the mat wet will not take away the tackiness – it will come back once it’s dry. If you need to refresh the tackiness you can spray it with a lightweight adhesive like iCraft’s Pixie spray (a stencil adhesive)
I so enjoyed watching you create this gorgeous card, Betsy! Love the blooms and background!
Hi Betsy! I really enjoyed watching you bring colorful life to your roses. It was very helpful. I’m always fascinated with the grouping of colors including your blues and greens in the leaves. A big takeaway was watching your watercolor wash background. (I would love to know the colors mixtures you used before you started.) Each time you share your process, my confidence grows to sit down for a more serious practice. As an interested beginner I’ve been studying the color wheel a lot lately but maybe a book on color theory would help. Any suggestions? Your bouquet is beautiful and I continue to learn from your wonderful videos! Thanks so much Betsy!
Thank you so much, Betsy! I love your videos and learn so much. I was amazed this time at how many shades of blues and greens you used for the leaves. Can’t wait to do more ink blending! The card is gorgeous.
I have looked high and low at stamps and dies….the ones that truly catch me attention are always yours 😊. I have a hard time doing challenges (for another company) because I forget, and use something of yours and I get disqualified! I love the artistic, professional, and mature look of your cards…..
Can you please explain how you did your mason jar. It’s very pretty!
I used our Just Mason Around stamp set of course, and Distress Oxide inks. I used Tumbled Glass for the first two layers. I sponge the ink onto the stamp using daubers instead of applying directly from the pad, which lets me build up color/intensity of color. I sponged just a bit of Cracked Pistachio for shading and to give a little more aqua tone to the ink, and finished the third step of the jar with Broken China ink. I hope that helps!
Love the roses in a jar video, could you please tell me the colors of reds that you used in the roses?
Suggestion, you list the colors in with the products that you use😁
Thank you
Stella
Lovely card!
Beautiful!!!
