Good morning! Sorry this post is coming a day late, due to some technical difficulties!
We’re moving on through our Week of Watercolor featuring the Hand in Hand stamp set. In today’s video I’ll be painting the umbrella. It seems like it should be simple, but I actually find the umbrella to be one of the more challenging images from the set to color! It is a bit tricky to capture the round-ness as well as the depth that’s created from the spines, or wires of the umbrella. But, give it a shot (or two or three!) I’m still working on mine, too. 🙂
Here is today’s video…
I’ve also had a few of you ask about keeping track of color names in your palette. I’m not always great at knowing the names either, but you will come to remember your favorite, most used colors. I created a few swatch pages in my sketchbook to correspond with the two large sections of paint wells in the Mission Gold palette. Here is an image showing one of those pages. I laid it out just like the palette, swatched each color and labeled it. It helps when deciding on colors, and also in remembering names.
Have a great Tuesday, everyone! We’ll see you back here tomorrow to paint the little pup!

Yeah, LOL I was watching this video yesterday, & it disappeared on me! LOL The video is GREAT, Betsy! AND THANK YOU for showing us HOW you label your colors! 😉 I’ve REALLY gotten into having swatches lately! ;)Yours looks GREAT!!! ;)<3
Yes, sorry about that! This one was filled with difficulties…first it was audio issues, then processing and upload issues! Sometimes it just seems to go that way, once it starts going bad you know you’re in for it! LOL.
Because of a new move and all that entails, I’m saving a day to watch and learn from your videos!! Such a treat! I’m so grateful for you!
Oh, moving is so much work! Good luck and hopefully you’ll be back to creating soon!
Thank you Betsy for these wonderful tutorial videos! They are so extremely helpful! I hope you continue these for future stamp sets!! Best wishes!
Thank you, Sandy! Glad you’re enjoying them!
I’m learning SO much as you guide us through these watercolor lessons, Betsy! I upgraded my watercolor paints, paper, and brushes for this special Week of Watercolor with you. Can’t wait for all of your background inspiration (especially using the stencils). Heartfelt thanks for guiding us Hand in Hand along this creative journey! Your continued guidance and inspiration make The Greetery a very special place to learn and grow! 💗
Dawn, thank you for your sweet comment! So glad you’re enjoying this series. 🙂
What I appreciate is learning to use the products I just purchased rather than getting them, but not even being able to fully appreciate using them before another set of products are introduced. The huge monthly releases are overwhelming. I realize that I have a choice to purchase or not but who can resist new stamps every month??? LOL. Thank you for taking the time to teach your techniques and even to learn along side us! Plus, I feel like this is taking my stamping to a whole new level. I think I’m going to like your new venture, Betsy. 🙂
Wonderful!
