Good morning, everyone! I’m so excited to be back creating things that I can share with you! I’ve been busy creating…but it’s all stuff that I can’t show you just yet. It wouldn’t be fun to spill the beans before it’s time. 😉
But today I have a video for you using the Fleur Impressions stamp set along with Distress Oxide inks. I used these inks on almost all of my projects for our first release, and so many of you have asked about them, and commented on the vibrant colors. So I thought I’d put a video together for you, showing you the technique I use for stamping with them.
If you haven’t tried them, Distress Oxide inks are a little different from what you might be used to, if you’re used to stamping with dye inks. They are more opaque as they are a hybrid of dye and pigment inks. They work wonderfully for ink blending and creating backgrounds, of course. They might not be the first thing you reach for when stamping BUT, the results can be really beautiful if you change up your stamping technique just a bit as I show in the video.
To stretch your colors for working with layered images like those in the Fleur Impressions set, you can use a combination of direct pad to stamp inking, and applying indirectly with a sponge. Using the two techniques can give you a broader range of colors and intensity of color, perfect for layered stamps.
Here’s the video for you!
I hope you get a chance to try it out, and if you do, I’d love to see it. I’ve seen so many pretty Fleur Impressions projects on Instagram! If you’re posting, be sure to use the hashtag #thegreetery so we can see what you’re up to!

Hi Betsy!!!
Thanks for a great video! I can’t wait to try your technique! Question: do you have a sticky pad on your MISTI holding your masks? I only see a very few pieces of Washi tape. Happy Stamping!
Sandy, I do! I don’t like messing with the magnets. I lose them, and they just don’t stay put for me. I cut down Cricut cutting mats to fit inside my MISTI. They’re sticky, and hold things in place. I use a little washi to give a bit of extra hold when the mat starts to lose its stickiness, and then replace it altogether every few months or so because they do lose their stickiness entirely after awhile.
Thank you Betsy for your response and suggestion of using Criket mats for sticky pads! Will have to try that!!
YES! This is a GREAT VIDEO, Betsy! Your flowers & card are STUNNING!!! I LOOOVE Oxide Inks & use them all the time! I think they’re my favorite ink! I LOVE the technique you used to create your GORGEOUS card! ;)<3
Great video, Betsy! Love the way you used the Distress Oxide inks. I can’t wait to play with this set. I can finally pick up my goodies today. I guess Dutch customs loved the stamps and dies a lot, because it took them almost a week to clear and release my package. 😉
Oh no! That’s never fun when things get hung up!
Oh but it would be SO much fun to spill the beans early. 😉 Love this technique! I can’t wait to give it a try. Thank you for showing us! xo
SUPER gorgeous..and love your tips and tricks!
Love your video and definitely going to give it a try. I am wondering if the distress inks smear at all. I have had trouble with that.
I haven’t had a lot of trouble with them smearing, but I think they could if you’re not careful, especially if you’re inking your stamps directly from the pad to the stamp. They’re pigment, so they take longer to dry, and they’re very juicy, so there’s a lot of ink when inking directly. I do find I get messier fingers when I stamp with them vs dye inks!
I am going to need to invest in some more distressed inks I see! Thanks for the instruction. I can not wait for this set to come back in.
Oh!!! a whole new world for creating gorgeous images!! Your videos are so helpful, Betsy– and my finger sponges are on the way. I can’t wait to try this!
I think you’ll love them!
I’m so glad you are back creating and “creating”! I wish you all the best in your new company, you know we love you and your creative heart.
Oh, Betsy! Watching you at work has been sooooo very helpful! I used Fleur Impressions last week to create a very special Mother’s Day card. Can’t wait to try your techniques to add Distress Oxides to the stamps creating all of these lovely layers! My mom’s next card will have more defined, soft layers of color. Heartfelt thanks for helping me ‘blossom,’ Betsy!
Thank you, Betsy – this technique makes the flowers look even more painterly (is that a word?)! It looks like fun, too! I also liked the way you stamped using the negative die-cuts!
I’d say that’s a word, for sure. 🙂
Great video! Luv your tips……more please? Thank you! ❤️
Absolutely gorgeous Betsy, the Greetery card and the distress color! You are amazing! I have these flowers on my wish list!
While I used distress oxide inks for my first attempt with this stamp set, I didn’t get the varied shades like you demonstrated in this fabulous and most helpful tutorial! Thanks so much for sharing! LOVE your first release and want to wish you well on your new company! I see many things sold out quickly so glad I was quick on the trigger and got my order in early! 🙂
I really enjoyed your video, thanks for sharing your Distress Oxide technique. I love those inks but always use them for blended backgrounds, not stamping. I did try to use them directly on stamps but would end up with a blotchy mess. I will be trying them again, but this time with sponge daubers as you demonstrated. Beautiful, elegant card.
This is so beautiful and very, very helpful!
Beautiful, beautiful card and great technique with the oxides Betsy…can’t wait to try it!! I am so in LOVE with the Fleur Impressions stamp set and know it will be a favorite “go to” stamp set for years and years to come! Thanks for the great video today too! :0)
Beautiful! You will let us know when things are back in stock, won’t you?
I’ve been stamping for a long time and you’ve now thought me something new! Thank you so much!!!
Awesome video, Betsy, and appreciate you explaining what you’re doing to achieve such beautiful results! I’m patiently waiting for the restocking of this set.
what is the green pad you used in your Misti instead of magnets? Beautiful flowers, I have never tried the distress oxide inks.
Thanks for sharing your gorgeous project and technique video. I’ve used the oxide inks for stamping but never with sponge daubers, lovely effects achieved on the florals.
I just saw your answer about the green pad when I submitted my question. And I already ordered some on Amazon. Will be wonderful not to have to replace each item every time stamped in the misti anymore. Thanks.
You’re welcome! One more tip – when you cut the mat to fit in the MISTI, make sure you cut it so it fits just right. You don’t want it to be too small or it will shift around inside the MISTI and it will be difficult to get your images to line up.
Good to know!
Wonderful video, thanks Betsy! Good luck with your new venture 🙂
I really like that you are giving instructions on your cards after we have received the products. So easy to follow along and learn more about different styles, coloring techniques, and ink products. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for the video and wonderful tips today! I have a few of those inks but loved seeing how you used them. Scrapbook.com had them on sale too!
Your work is so beautiful and that was so kind of you to take time and make the video!
Thank you so much for your wonderful video. It makes my heart happy to see you creating again and sharing your inspiration with us. My head is spinning just trying to imagine what your next release will include. I don’t usually wish time away but I just can’t wait until June!!
Beautiful card! Thanks for the great video.
Thanks for the video! Some very good tips and instructions 💕 can’t wait to try this technique out 😀
so pretty, love the color combination and how you arranged them on the card
How lovely . Just my style of crafting . Beautiful .
Betsy, the color effects using the distress oxides as you did are amazing. I’ll definitely be trying this with my inks. tfs
Wonderful video! Thank you.
Hi Betsy! First, I’m so happy to see you again and sooo appreciative of your videos. I have the finger sponges for many of my inks and have also tried stamping with the distress Oxides. But- your video is extremely helpful. It shows me that I need to layer with my oxides a few more times along with blending the inks. I absolutely love the variation of colors you achieved along with different options. I’ve been gone for awhile, attending my youngest daughter’s wedding across country. Now I can’t wait to play with some of the beautiful products from The Greetery! Thanks again! 🙂
